    If I'd seen this video before I bought my 3.2, I might have held out for a V8. The MPG on my 3.2 is so bad around town, I might as well have the V8. It's probably more efficient pulling all that weight anyway and man I would enjoy that sound!

      I can’t comment on the 3.2, but I can only commend the 4.4 V8, it’s such a peach and the soundtrack is so intoxicating!

      @@NathanMannin I live in Santa Barbara which has a lot of stop signs, and not even driving aggressively, I get 13 MPG (US gallon). I believe that would be about 15.6 UK. On the highway, I max out at an average of 28 US MPG. The 3.2 does also sound pretty good, and it has dual exhaust and is no slouch, but it is just such a heavy car!

    Have enjoyed your S80 V8 videos. Thanks. Is it possible to lower the sat nav when the car is running or is it always raised? Do you still have the car?

      Hello! Thank you so much for watching! Yes you can lower the sat nav screen via remote control or through the steering wheel buttons behind the wheel. I only have it raised for aesthetic purposes because I love how retro it is, and seeing how out of date the maps is with all the new roads and building developments around 😆 Unfortunately I no longer own this car, however I would own another in a heartbeat!

    No premium sound. No FourC. No premium leather. No compass mirror. No nothing.
    What the point of the V8 if the rest of the car is base.

    • @NathanMannin
      @NathanMannin  Год назад +10

      I don’t need premium sound when I have a 4.4 V8. It comes with plenty standard which I’m more than happy with. The seats are supremely comfortable as they are, so no hardship there either. You also need to take into account there’s literally none for sale here. I also bought it because it was the cheapest one at the time. What’s the point? It’s a Volvo with a V8, that speaks volume in itself 😉 Even without the extras, it’s still and exceptional car.

    • @geoffreycarter3981
      @geoffreycarter3981 Год назад +2

      The standard stereo on this is pretty satisfying tbh. I have not tried the premium one but Im very happy without it and I consider myself a bit of an audiophile. Plenty good for the car. And I'm glad mine does not have the 4C, it would be very pricey to maintain. Ventilated Seats are a must though in my opinion if they are going! Nothing worse than a sweaty back to ruin comfort.

    • @prose1733
      @prose1733 Год назад

      Well, yea, I can see your point, but we don't need to glorify something more than it is.
      The thruth is: the Volvo P3 was developed for the Si6 engine for the american market. Not the V8. The only reason why there was a V8 version is because that engine was already on the shelf as it was used in the P2 XC90 and the T6 was not ready at launch of the P3 platform. Sure, a V8 is a V8 and the sound is second to none but for all intents and purposes the T6 is the better engine. Once the T6 established itself on the market, the V8 was out the window, just as with many other brands, like the Audi S5 B8 for example which traded its V8 for the V6T transforming the handling and performance of the car like night and day.
      In that perspective, the only reason why anyone who originally configured a S80 would want it with the V8 is as a loaded executive premium package. Then its kind of a cool car. If it's not loaded, the V8 is just old tech and added cost on top of an ordinary S80. That is the somewhat strange thing about this car: Who configures a somewhat stock S80 with a V8?
      As a second hand a decade old nice-to-have-car, the issues and drawbacks with the V8 are well known by know. The corrosion of the front subframe which is unique for the V8 being one of the major ones. The cost of the part alone should scare off most potential buyers. Unfortinately, the S80 sedan never was much of a popular configuration of the P3. Even less so the P2 S80. Even the maxed out ones are left to rot. Noone drives them. The question then becomes for what benefit are we keeping these old gas guzzling dinosaurs running around if its just for the engine? Compare that to an alternative: If one wants the most out of "that" volvo design from the P3 generation, the recommendation would be to go find a V70 T6 and he or she will be immensely more rewarded in terms of "car package" than one will ever be with that old V8. Those are some seriously loved cars even today as they really have little competition among newer cars.

    • @prose1733
      @prose1733 Год назад

      @@geoffreycarter3981the cost of a full setup of FourC shocks is a grand Eur (less than a grand brittish shillings.) and well worth the money. Not opting for fourC in the V8 is like skipping the AirCondition.

    • @prose1733
      @prose1733 Год назад

      @@ch6290 how is it a silly comment to tell the truth? The S80 deserves more than this because it it aint nothing special because of the V8. There is no need to glorify it because of that. In most peoples view the V8 is a slow thirsty piece of junk and an encironmental hazars as such. The amount of fuel this thing consumes is just ridiculous in times of this. Its not even an option for something you use everyday. What makes the S80 special is all the other stuff that was available of which this S80 has none except the keyless enty option, satnav, sunroof and a few other things.
