Doug, just want you to know that your Metal Theory course helped me more than 4 years of weekly lessons in the boondocks of northwest New Jersey back in the 80s. Many thanks to you. I was also a big fan of the Hawk album. Still am. Glad to see you're still out here doing your thing.
Thanks a lot. Yes, I was one of the few doing this type of thing back in the 80s. Glad that I was able to help you out. Always great hearing from my original students.
Working with Doug over the summer with sessions every two weeks has increased my guitar skills tremendously. I am expanding my repertoire quickly and learning new genres. More importantly, I am learning how to apply my developing technical skills. It is a lot of work and the recordings of my playing show constant improvement. I can’t wait to compare my progress in six months.
I love that. Just the mention of that course takes me back to when I was recording it in Chatsworth California in '95. I demonstrated a lot of midi equipment and software of the time which made 25% of the course dated quite quickly but the rest of it remains good advice. Glad that you enjoyed it.
You know I’ll be signing up for that, Doug. I need to catch up with this awesome young female guitarist I’ve been following. It’s like she’s become competition for me 🤘-Brent 💪
Hey Brent. See you next Wednesday. I put the Video Review in out store. Now there are no excuses for not hearing from you at least every other week! Always good to see you.
Doug I'm from India🇮🇳 and I recently get to knew about your you tube channel, i followed it, by the way I've a good question for you to ask, so basically I turned 17 this year and I really want to play guitar, I don't know there are several guitar acoustic, electric ones... Could you prefer me which one should I pick as a beginner,,, and the 2nd question that I want to ask you is , how many months would it take for me to learn and play it perfectly? And last but not least, how's the actual process to learn a guitar, and remember that I'm very sure that I wanna learn guitar desperately, but I've got no guider so please guide me ❤ lots of love from india 🇮🇳
Thanks for subscribing to my channel. Weekly, for the next five weeks I'm going to upload a beginning guitar lessons. That should get you started. I teach rock guitar so I recommend that your first guitar be an electric because it will allow you to create the sound of rock guitar. Plus, typically an electric guitar is easier to play. Last, that's a very good question, "how many months would it take for me to learn and play it perfectly" I can't answer that because I haven't learned to play perfectly yet. So far I've been playing about 708 months and I'm not there yet. Good luck on your journey.
Probably not. Did you know Rusty was one of my original Metal Method students? So, beginning with my lessons helped him along the way. He's a really good guy and an extraordinary player. He probably gives online lessons.
With respect to Zoom, would one simply need the Zoom Workplace basic subscription? I ask because tech companies tend to obfuscate the product that an average Joe needs and I am thinking the basic plan would suffice, as it is free. Is this correct?

Good luck in all your endeavors. You have been a light in the dark for so many up and coming guitarists.
Thank you very much. Thanks for commenting.
I am 50 years ol;d and I bought your cassette tapes when I was like 12 years old.... you are the Obi Wan Kenobi of the guitar world
Thanks. That's a good way of putting it.
I took your lessons on VHS many years ago and they were fantastic!
Thank you.

Thanks Steve. I appreciate the hard work you've put into our project. I continue to be amazed by your progress.
I think this is exactly what i have been looking for! I am excited!
I look forward to meeting you Steve.
Your songwriting course helped me just as much as the “metal method” lesson.

Awesome!
Thanks Mike. Most probably already know this, if not, Mike has a great RUclips channel. Check it out: www.the-art-of-guitar.com/

Can you help me to play stuff like Rusty Cooley? I love his technique etc

Is this correct?
Zoom is free for you. Yes the basic subscription. I pay for a professional subscription so the time of our meeting isn't limited.
I can alternate pick somewhat fast my legato is so so sweep picking is not too good
Sweep picking is cool but... I don't consider it an essential technique unless you're performing shred.
