There are local bands and City wide events throughout the year. The town has a fantastic walking trail that begins at University of Arkansas goes along a stream with wildlife for several miles and accesses Cooper Park which is across town. Cooper Park has a public pool, Tennis Courts, a historical walking tail along a pond and old historical cabin homes. The park also has a Youth Activities Building and Senior Activities building. The Senior building provides a free lunch to Seniors. It has a workout room with many machines and weights and a full basketball Court. There is also a Park Downtown with Basketball Courts and many playgrounds options. The town has a symphony orchestra that plays often at the University. The University also brings in many venues and of well known personalities and Music Venues for the Public in their large Auditorium with theater seating. The town has large historical Library and also a Regional Hospital. Not to mention the hiking trails, canoeing, boating and fishing along the River and the two near our town. You should come for a visit.
Miss this place. I was born there, but my parents moved all the way out to Ohio when I was 2. My Dad was originally from Ohio anyway but met my Mom while traveling for work. But they used to take my Sister and I back for 2-3 weeks every Summer. Then both my grandparents on my Mom’s side of the family died, I graduated high school, got a job and generally just very wrapped up in adult life. Lost my connection to the place. Haven’t been back in 11 years. Finally going again in 2 weeks. Used to stay right at the Comfort Inn you drive by at around 7:04 in the video. I know this video’s old, but I’m glad I found it.
I'm moving to Mountain Home for a new job this summer. I've never been there before but I'm looking forward to a short drive to work and going to the lakes every weekend. Not to mention great people as well. Thanks for posting the video.
its great if you have some amount of money and are older/retired. if you're coming here expecting to make any money and don't have a job lined up good luck because the class gap is startling. also the average age is probably 60. basically a giant retirement home. dont bother dressing nice ever because anywhere you go itll just be a bunch of old shits. the only way it could be worse is if you lived in Norfork or Gainesville. if you are some old codger I highly recommend it
My hometown. I love it, but so many of the old landmarks are gone in the name of progress. The town's lost it's flavor, so to speak. Too urban now. Sad.
Been here in Mountain Home since 2003. I'm from St.Louis and southern Ohio. I don't see a YMCA anytime soon or a roller skating rink. Place is Retirementville,USA
We used to roller skate on the walks beside the Baptist Church., there was a rink NE of the square in the early 50's. Then there was was a nice one built in the mid 50's at Gassville. You have to make money to keep a business alive... There were 3 movie theaters in the early 50's. There was a nice park with tennis courts and a swimming pool, too. With the lakes and rivers to swim and fish in, we never needed a YMCA.
I grew up in Baxter county. Went to school in Mtn. Home. So called progress has ruined a wonderful place. Call some place paradise, .... kiss it good bye. Peace
This place is awesome there are nice people Ive been living there all my life the school has some decent kids but who am I to blame its the best and most beautiful place ever
THIS IS A TERRIBLE MOVIE TO SHOW PEOPLE THINKING ABOUT MOVING TO MT. HOME, ARK. DRIVER DRIVES TO FAST AND NEVER TALKS AND SHOWS NOTHING. a TOTAL WAIST OF TIME.

I Live here right now and I'm 13 this state is sooo boring nothing to do unless you go to missouri or something. They need to put malls in Mountain Home. Water Parks something! Mountain home school sucks ass I wouldn't come here if I were you guys. when I'm older I'm moving up to Michigan.
Jeremiah, I live in Monticello, Arkansas. I don't do the church thing and well I have to do the Walmart thAng if I want to buy something. I have worked off most of my life and been all over this nation. I choose to live here because of the people, friends and family. These other places may seem so much better, but in the end, home is what you make of it.
There are people from all over the country that retire here in Mountain Home. We have relatives from California that live there, now for over 15 years, and never long to return to the land of fruits & nuts. It is not for people who want the beaches of Florida, or looking for all the trappings of Las Vegas, the sun 24/7 of Phoenix...or city life of Chicago, New York, or San Francisco. One or two problems with this video is they are just driving around, and this was taken several years ago. They need to go downtown on the square, stop, talk to locals...etc.

From what I have heard, Mountain Home has some of the best fishing in the country. Can anyone fill me in on the fishing there?
I don’t fish a lot but they have a lot rainbow trout and I know there’s some bouts at this restaurant that sells fish to eat

I visit every July from Chicago since I was 8 years old. The Mexican restaurant in the beginning of the vid is really good
Salsa is still good to this day
I was banned from that walmart for life. Mid 90’s I was terrified of my Grandpa finding out.
Wow... I grew up there, and didn't recognize anything at all until 3:20... KFC was there even when I was a kid.. I moved away in the early 1980's
