Fastest way to sweep and vacuum your swimming pool - guaranteed.
*Sweep the steps and around the steps
*Sweep the walls. Be sure to get your angles correct. Sweep all the dirt and leaves towards to deep end.
*Sweep the bottom. All the dirt goes to the deep end.
*Allow the dirt and algae and debris to settle for a few minutes. Gravity will cause it to settle to the pool floor.
All of the pool's dirt should be collected in the deep end of the pool.
*Last step is to vacuum.
Be sure you have the filter OFF when sweeping. You don't want the dirt to hit any of the returns and be churned up.
This is the best and easiest way to get and keep your pool clean. You'll be able to cut the cleaning time down by 1/2.
Thanks you made it look so simple. I routinely sweep the walls and dirt to deep end but never knew how to vacuum it. Now can't wait to try it.
Wow thanks for the tips here! Especially about brushing the dirt at the bottom.
Wow, thank you so much. This is my first pool. I have had three men out to show me what to do. Your explanation of filter, waste, winter, rinse, recirculate, back wash, rinse was so simple and very effective. Many thanks from Australia. Jane
Jane you are not very clever snd this video it crap. Ask a dealer or a good friend.
Love your instructions, loved.... thank u... learn a lot
Great video. Clear, concise, and to the point. Job well done!
I’ve been doing this method for over 10yrs ....it works for me, it also relaxes me when I’m doing it...I know weird.
Thank you for your help and time!
For anyone who is interested, there's a study from the Florida Atlantic University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. It states in Section 1 - Operating Hours Study that dirt sinks to the bottom and chemicals stay in solution. Dirt will settle which is caused by gravity and due to the fact that the particles are heavier than water and will sink. You can first brush, then skim the top, test your chemicals, clean the deck and hook up the vacuum. During this time the dirt will settle, allowing for faster and easier cleaning.

Totally awesome tip, thank you!
dude....great video....thanks for the tips!
Thanks for sharing. I understand how to use a pool brush now!
JH i dont want to brush this and that. Buy a robot cleaner
You just made my life SO much easier!! Thank you for simple clear instructions for a grandma! I have been struggling for 5 weeks trying to keep it clean and this just simplified it all for me. Never had one before this year so was clueless!! Thank you!!
You're welcome and glad to help.
First pool... appreciate the tips! Thanks!
Dude u are a lifesavor.. My momma has a BEAUTIFUL pool. I try and keep up maintenance of the pool but sometimes its overwhelming. Im by NO means a professional pool "girl", but tips like these, make it MORE manageable. Thanks a Bunch
Thanks and have a great Summer.
I learned several things...
turn off pump when sweep to - settle better
brush/vacuum, slowly to control direction and suction of dirt
waste is also a way to bypass clogging filter on heavy( debri ) vacuum days..
Thank you sooooo Much..
You're welcome. You may not need to wait a full hour. Sometimes it can take as little as 10 - 15 minutes for the dirt to settle. This pool was more than slightly dirty so I had to wait a little longer.
Clean Pool & Spa - Ultimate Swimming Pool Care Guide Im looking to clean my Above ground pool...algea, from the fall.....((
I will be trying this technique this weekend..
Great tips that complement perfectly what I learned from the video!
great info. thanks!
Actually I do a variation of that quite often on my pools and it does work.
Nice tip. Thanks
Many thanks for the great
i always push the dirt slowly yo the deep end. this video is goooooood.
Very good idea to consolidate debris to deep end. Most effective for then vacuuming. I also use a skim vac plate for quicker clean up with skimmer basket under plate. I had trouble keeping skim vac plate from losing prime and floating. I could not get a good seal until I tried a gasket called poolvacsaver that easily attached to my skim vac plate and it is a game changer. I have so much more suction Im using a vacuum hose that has a couple small holes in it. Never got away with holes in vac hose before when vacuuming.
Thanks for the comment!!
Thanks
Thank you for sharing
Good techniques presented for sweeping and Vauuming a pool.
AMAZING!
Very smart 👌
Great video 👏
Thank you 🙋🏻♂️ 🌻
Nifty trick , can't believe I never thought of it
Brilliant video! Thank you sooo much
Thank u for this...I just inherited a pool and had no idea what I was doing
My pool 5000 gl fill with rain water how much chlorine u I use
very informative!!!!thank you so much
Thanks for the comment.
Good job and video. Thanks for interest in trying to help pool owners
Consider (as home owner) Do at end of day when pool pump off
Yes to sweeping to deep end, dirt/debri naturally goes that way.
Sweep at 45 degrees down sides and bottom (brush works easier that way) and shunt dirt down the pool to deep end, dirt will lift but eventually settle (overnight is best)
Use Alum (aluminium oxide) or flocking agent if particles very fine. Just cast into pool or dissolve in water / skimmer box before distribution.
Not a bad idea to kill algae with correct chems / ph
Next day, start filter, use filter at deep end. Extend pole, vacuum opposite half pool to centre line and change sides (easier to see and pole not standing upright at your feet)
If quantity of dirt will overwhelm filter, I have used a filter sock in skimmer basket to catch most rubbish (blocks quickly but easier to rinse out)
If really really bad, don't worry about sock / filter and vacuum straight to waste. Minimising area to vacuum is what saves the time / water wasted.
My sand filter was sending dirt back into pool. sand replacement wouldn't help due to age unit. Regrettably had to replace it (bought a good one second hand) I also found out salt chlorinator cell had given up. Replaced with another. Water HAS NEVER LOOKED CLEANER or better
Now kept clean this way and in conjunction with auto cleaner
I woud fire you in 1 mINT. YOU ARE AN IMBARSMIT. TO THE POOL BUSNIS. AND l. Feel sorry for any one. That like s. This. Video and you are dissonest. Too
Great video man!
I've been doing it all wrong. I'm a new pool owner of 3 months and I was going hard and fast with my sweeping thinking that kicking up the dirt would allow the skimmer and main drain to suck it all up. I'll move slower now with my sweeping and even slower with my vacuuming... thanks
thank you
You're welcome. Glad I could help.
Great video
Thanks for the comment!!
10/10 I would watch this guy clean a pool again.
When I had a pool I tried the vacuum that was automatic. It really didn’t work that great.
So I would brush the algae off where it was thick (5 minutes tops) put a piece of nylon over the filter intake to catch big stuff, and put six bags of super shock in it. Done and done. Throw the cover on and put the sand filter in the garage
Every new pool owner should watch your video. I just happened to be searching solar powered robot skimmers and happened on your presentation .
I have owned pools for many years. New owners trying to minimize the expenses of a pool need all the information they can collect. Otherwise, they will spend a considerable sum of money in chemicals and repairs.
gene q )75
Super
Great video! New pool owner. Question: what’s the advantage of doing it this way where the waist goes through your filter rather than bypassing the filter? TIA
My method is a little different but the same. I turn up the rpm on the pump, close the skimmer valve(s) 1/2 to 3/4, make sure the main drain is full open and brush to the deep end then vacuum and detail. Pretty quick with little settling.
Seems like a perfect solution. Thanks for watching.
Yeah that’s how I do it Too
Cool 😎
We have had a pool for 35 years but I can always learn something new. Well done
I did not see you actually plug the end of the holes into the skimmer or a vacuum plate. I am assuming you did something and left it out. You just seem to push the hose through the skimmer opening and that was it. Maybe it’s my ageing eyesight
Thanks for this. Just bought a house with my first pool (saltwater) I have a lot to learn
You're welcome and good luck with your pool.
thank you for the great idea. one question, is it to use your skimmer for the vacuum hose?
i thought the vacuum hose is only for the vacuum fitting. we're new to this pool thing..
You can use a designated hose like this one for the skimmer. If you're new to pools, please consider going to my website. I have tons of information available to assist you in having a perfect looking pool. Thanks for watching and have a great day. www.clean-pool-and-spa.com
Very easy and great attention to detail. Thanks!
Thanks for the great comment.
Under the skimmer! Nice... why is it the simplest way of doing things escape me sometimes! Ugh. Thanks!
Any video or info on scale build up removal from plaster?
Hi Adena. Unfortunately, or maybe not, I don't have any videos on how to remove calcium on tiles. The pool I've taken care of don't have that issue any longer. However, you can try Scale Be Gone. I've tried it and it works fairly well. Finishing with a pressure washer works well. You can check out this video I did a few years ago about maintaining your tile. I live in FL and even with high CH fill water, well over 300 ppm, scale can be contained to a minimum. ruclips.net/video/zlRVEThtc8I/видео.html
Dude, I got news for you that is not dirt it is algae. You need to shock your pool and keep the chlorine level higher, especially in the summer. Then you should clean your filter since you just sucked all that junk right into it. A clean filter is the secret to having clear water.
Dude, it says algae in the title and description. And I clearly understand how to clear up a pool which is demonstrated by the multiple videos I've made doing just that, both on my RUclips channel and my website. Thanks for the news.
My oval pool doesn't have a deep end, so i guess I'll send it to the skimmer end, is this correct?
The best way too clean your pool, you sweep all of the debris too the deep end ...hook up the vacuum, put on your scuba equipment and take your sweet ass time underwater so your kids can't bother you!...... definitely the best way to clean your pool!
This is awsome!!
Agreed!😂🤣😂
My kids would jump in and start trying to hang on for a ride.
HAHAHA Love IT! The struggles!
This maybe the obvious question but should we run the pool skimmer while sweeping or should it be off?
At this moment surely you already got a Hammerhead vacuum right?
when vacuuming, is the filter on waste? or on circulation? or filter?
Do you think after pushing all debris in deep end instead of putting it thru filter could you vacuum and bypass filter? And loose some water but get rid of algae and leaves?
so did you connect the hose to something in the skimmer or just let it sit in there?
also is there any way to get big leaves out of the bottom of the pool
I connected the hose into the skimmer while I vacuumed. I swept with the pump motor off, allowed the dirt to settle, then vacuumed. For the bigger leaves, you can check this video out: ruclips.net/video/waqW6wN5qJc/видео.html
It's a great product and will take care of the large organic matter in the pool.
I'm a cert 3 tech everyone has there own idea on pool cleaning I brush walls and steps if it's really bad and a large pool I'll do to waste but if it's a smaller pool like 40,000 I'll filter when I see hint of stuff coming out of jets I'll backwash. Use di-Chloe in summer to shock pool as it contains stabiliser witch can mask readings if high use cal hypo if calcium is low as to much calcium will leave white staining on water edging and grout and if stabiliser and calcium are high use liquid chlorine as it's just chlorine. Use whatever chlorine to what fits your test and use a algae killer as well when doing shock then put a floc or clarifier in at end u can use filter to clean out water or turn off everything for 24-48h then vac bottom after. I'm a tech pool cleaner but still look up videos as that's how u learn. Do a test first before doing a clean. Good video tho
When pool is clean then retest and balance pool. If chlorine is high 6+ it will mask alkaline and will b higher then test. Keep chlorine around 3-4 and shouldn't have issue any higher will cause sore eyes and damage covers. To low and it goes green
How do I adjust my old style hayward vacuum's speed? the vacuum is running good but it's running very slow when it's vacuuming the pool. Any suggestions as to what I can do to help the vacuum's spped along? Please help! Thanks for your time and consideration!
+crispycrazycard I know this is kinda late, but the suction of the pump determines how fast it sucks. Increase the suction to the skimmer your hose is attached to by closing off the opposite skimmer.
thanks for the help
I agree with your point , pump determines how fast it sucks. You can increase your pump HP.
When the pool is first being opened and that bad with algae if sand filters or any filter should be vacuumed on the waste or have backwashed over and over and it just messaging the sand waste just shoots it out backwash line saving tour sand in the long run
Question: one of my pools that I was assigned to had his skimmer shut off. I turned the skimmer valve to “open” but when it was time for me to clean his spa (attached to his pool) his spa jets were “on”. How can I turn off his spa jets so I can see clearly what I’m vacuuming?
I use a hammerhead vac on my 70 pool route.
P7E5T0N how do you clean 70 pools a week ??
How many do you do a day
But where does all those dirt go?
Thanks for this video., But itry several time I can't clean the pool perfectly, still have dibris in the button., Pls guided me.., thank you
Hi Mac. With the lack of details offered, I can only give you general statements. Your pump might not have enough suction, is clogged up, you're vacuuming too fast, not a good vacuum head, hose is bad, vacuum head is too small for your size pool, etc.. There could be many reasons or combination of reasons why you're not getting the results you want.
How can you do that with a creepy crawler?
Hi I have seen your video and it help me a lot I'm also doing the same way as your video I brush it first and take all the dirt to the higher position as your video but when instant using the vacum to take the dirt I come back out to the pool after after 10 min you will see the pool is green again so where am I making the mistake. Please help.
Sweep to the deep end and allow it to settle for a few minutes. If the dirt is returned back to the pool after vacuuming, your filter is not working and needs to be checked.
I may’ve missed this but do you turn the big dial to “waste” when you vacuum so as not to have the dirt just return to the pool?
Yes you can. Just remember to keep your water level up. Vacuuming to waste looses a lot of water. Thanks for the question.
Does the main drain at the bottom of the pool need to be turned off before vacuuming?
All you need to do is turn the pump motor off and sweep. It should only take a few minutes for the dirt to settle after you sweep, then vacuum. No need to turn any valves.
I’ve had a pool for 15 years I find that just vacuuming the whole pool then shock then brush then go back the next day and vacuum again! everyone does it different
Thanks for the comment.
I dont understand why everyone seems to have such an issue cleaning their pools. The biggest thing to keep your pool clean is consistency. I am 22 yrs old & bought my first house with a pool about a year ago. I've never had a problem keeping it clean
You're completely right about consistency. But there's alot of misinformation out in pool land, especially concerning pool chemistry. If the chemistry is not right a pool will get algae, then the headache of cleaning comes into play.
What about if u have grass in the pool?
When I try to vacum it all the grass does is go in a circular motion? Any tips, thanks
Use a wide-mouth leaf rake for debris on top of the water. Use a leaf bagger or leaf catcher for the bottom. Here's a video for that: ruclips.net/video/PJ3g2yPNZqM/видео.html
What vacuum do you recommend? I assume it's manual? Thanks for the video.
What about above ground round pools? Is there a specific easier method for them? I always sweep down the walls and push any dirt/debris towards the middle of the pool which is where the filter sends it when it's being filtered (but often times it actually seems to end up being pushed back over an area that's already been swept, but perhaps that's caused by me pushing the stuff too hard even though I try to sweep relatively slow to prevent stirring the dirt up, etc.). Is this the correct way to do it, or should I actually try to push all the debris/dirt from one end to the other instead of to the middle? LOL Oh, decisions, decisions. Any tips to make this easier is appreciated.
@ 1:40 I somewhat mention the point you made. For an above ground pool if we brush on one side then go to the exact opposite side and brush we're simply pushing the dirt back to the same original location. Gently sweep everything towards the skimmer to contain the dirt with the pump off and allow a few minutes for the dirt to settle as you take your tests, remove debris out of the pool, clean whatever, etc...
Thanks so much for the info.
Didn't all the left go in the motor when you put the hose in the skimmer
Judging from the reflection on the pool surface, it appears that the pool is under a screen enclosure. Where did the leaves come from?
Broken screen. Neighbor's very large tree hangs over the pool. Thanks for the question.
As someone who fumbled around with his pool for a few years, please please please listen to what this man is saying. Your brush is your friend. The brush makes your job deceptively easier so you think it's doing the job half-ass. It's not. If your brush isn't being used more than your vacuum, you are likely doing it wrong. I have to keep reminding myself of this. Also, as he said-- go slow.
Doesn’t what you vacuum end up going into your filter or is there a way to bypass your filter (in cases where the debris is REALLY bad)?
If your system has a multiport valve you can vacuum to waste. This bypasses the filter but you're going to lose water so keep the pool topped off. We never want the water level to get below the skimmer.
Clean Pool & Spa - Ultimate Swimming Pool Care Guide Perfect, Thank you!!
You're welcome.
I've owed a pool company for 35 years and have a slight different method. start with the tile, brush the debt is off, brush steps, leaf rake in a back and forth motion while moving right to left, then use your method of getting the air out of the hose but I go over the top of the deck because it's easier and quicker. I vacuum in rows across the pool as far as I can reach from one side, finish the other side in half the time. then backwash and do chemistry. it takes total of 30 minutes for a pool this size. I learned this method from Pool Cleaning Olympics video made way back when in Florida.
Hi sir, thank you for this video! My boyfriend and I are moving into our first house together next week. We have have a small inground pool in the backyard and we are very excited but have never owned one before. Do you mind naming the vacuum brand for me? The brand name and model. It looks simple and sound, exactly what we're hoping for. Thank you again!
Mia Eisele Hi. sorry I accidentally deleted my post. You can Google standard pool vacuum head and take your pick. eBay and Amazon have a good selection as well as your local pool store. Get it with the bristles on the edges as this makes cleaning easier. They're about $15 - $20 and last for years. Keep it out of direct sun and store it on a flat surface. It doesn't work as well when it's bent or bowed out.
Awesome, good to know! Thank you! :)
Question how much do you charge I am currently trying to start a pool cleaning bussness and I am wondering about the price I would want to charge when I am experienced enough
The main area to consider is what your current market is. What are other pool guys charging? And to what degree would you want to be involved? Chems only? Chems and cleaning? Repairs? Some combination of the three? Are you going to try to get your route organically, through referrals, or go through a pool route broker?
Clean Pool & Spa - Ultimate Swimming Pool Care Guide thank you I recently had the idea because my father fired are pool guys they charged 210 I was thinking about charging 150 a month and I also was thinking Chems cleaning and repair
Alex Garcia Did you do it?
Robert, Is the pool filter pump running or stopped while you're brushing?
Amelia Deyton The pump motor should be off so the dirt can settle a bit faster.
Thanks!
No way silly. The only way to vacuum a pool is to attach your hose to your automatic cleaner drop it in slowly into the shallow end, sit back, put your feet up get yourself a drink and watch it crawl over the bottom of the pool to clean it. This is the only way to clean the interior of a pool. Been doing this for over 30 years and trust me it is the only way.
If it's the only way, why are vacuums made that attach to a telescopic pole for manual cleaning? And please explain how commercial pools are cleaned when they don't use an automatic cleaner?
Exactly! In 4 yrs I’ve had to vacuum 3 times. That’s it. And it’s because my pump needed to be replaced. Love my Polaris pool cleaner!
@@cadiehl1 what model do you have?
Robert, you vacuumed only the deep end where the dirt was?
Yes that's correct. I swept the pool in about 5 minutes then allowed the dirt to settle to the bottom in the deep end. The pump needs to be off so there's no water movement. Let it sit for about 1 hour. Then I vacuum the deep end and that's it. This method cuts the cleaning time more than half.
One more thing. I recorded this in the Fall when there were lots of leaves and dirt. I wanted to show the worst condition I could, considering this is Florida. You can see how much dirt there was on the floor when I swept but it still only took a few minutes to completely clean the pool.
Lol lots of leaves? Would you like to come to Atlanta next fall ? Haha.
Have a good one man.
What do you think of them aqua link Robots
Most robotic cleaners on the market are good. Dolphin and Polaris are good ones to look at.
have ever used natures pool filters they look like a mix of plants ppl put in there pool what are your thoughts
100% workable for FISH PONDS or similar... But swimming pools REQUIRE CHLORINE to maintain water cleanliness and there are NO PLANTS that will survive very long when exposed to EITHER the Chlorine concentration required for a swimming pool OR the Salinity of a Salt-water pool that uses a Salt-Water Chlorine generation system. In a swimming pool environment, you'd be EXTREMELY LUCKY if you would find ANY plants that would survive longer than maybe a day or two to a week.
Shouldn't you say it took 2.5 hours to clean the pool from beginning to end since you took 2 hours off to let dirt settle? Is there a better way to do it all at once?
The actual work time was only 15 minutes. The dirt and particles get suspended in the water and need time to settle. Sweeping is much faster than vacuuming so when you sweep to one area you only need to vacuum that area. I said 2 hours as a happy medium. Some pools may require less time due to less dirt. This pool was pretty dirty so it took a bit longer for all the dirt to settle but the actual work time was cut in half.
Clean Pool & Spa - Ultimate Swimming Pool Care Guide its good just weird i go vacuum first than brush. but same results, and that vacuum trick is awesome it made my job easier when i learned that technique. i would hate waiting for it to prime. lol
Abram Ruelas Why would you vacuum first then brush? If you sweep first more of that fine debris will settle by the time you vacuum. Thus removing more from the pool. Your procedure is the same as vacuuming your home before you dust. Doesn't make sense.
+Ultimo D I guess we all have our own methods. I have been told by other professional and seen it done, but I always vacuum first. Will have to give it a try. I get good results rarely complaints if so its not pool cleanliness related, you know how it goes.
This is the way I would do it if I had a pool in my backyard but when you're out cleaning 10+ pools a day you don't have the time to wait around for all that algae to settle to the bottom.
When you use the vacuum, are you supposed to switch to filter?
Filter for light dirt, waste for medium to heavy dirt, if you have a multi-port valve. Thanks for the question.
where was the vacuum hose connected ?
Bradford Palmer he connected inside of the skimmer after removing the basket and then close the valve for the bottom drain so the pump is only pulling water from skimmer. Hope this make sense
MY POOL IS FULL OF PINE NEEDLES AND LEAVES FROM PREVIOUS YEAR. CAN'T SEE WHAT OR WHERE IM VACUUMING. ALSO NOW POOL IS FULL OF FOAM
A good product for the pine needles is the leaf bagger. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/waqW6wN5qJc/видео.html. After you remove as much debris as you can it will be time to clear up the pool, but try as best you can to remove the debris. Foam might be caused by using a copper algaecide.
From what I understand if your water is too soft it can foam also. Easy to check. :)
How did this pool get so dirty in the first place? Mine is cleaner in the spring when I open it.
It's a friend's pool. Don't know why she let it go. Thanks for the comment.
Howly, when you brush I see the dust is desparse in the pool
Allow it to settle to the bottom, then vacuum it. Thanks for the question.
Where I can buy that kind of vacuum??? Please answer me sir
You can buy them online or your local pool store. Easy to find.
Eric Jan Ramirez you can buy one at Burger King
David Serrano this is a falsehood!!! Reeeee!!!
Why does the dirt need to be pushed to the deep end? Thanks
It's the deepest part of the pool where it'll settle more. Thanks for the question.
did you sweep and vacuum after flocking or no??
When you floc you need to vacuum to waste. But don't floc if you have a cartridge filter. Floc can only be done with a sand or DE filter with a multiport valve. Once the floc is removed you can sweep and vacuum if you want to. Floc is fine for extreme circumstances but should not be needed for routine maintenance. Something is wrong if floccing is needed routinely.
Clean Pool & Spa - Ultimate Swimming Pool Care Guide Just take the cartridge out of the filter
And then it goes right back into the pool.
When you vacuum the pool, you choose waste or filter cycle?
It depends on the situation. For normal weekly maintenance, filter is fine. For heavier debris or dirt, it's best to vacuum to waste. Make sure you keep the water topped off so it doesn't get below the skimmer. Thanks for the question.
@cleanpoolspa-ultimateswimm6373 , what do you mean keep the water topped off? How is that done?
I’d think it would take longer then 15 minutes just for it to resettle let alone execute the entire process.
Here to there!!!!
Wow I’ve been brushing my pool all wrong
Happy birthday songs
You don't show whether to turn the pump off, whether to turn the filter to waste, whether to put the hose out for flow from pool ... you just go right to vacuuming. I think you're missing some steps?
It's difficult to cover every scenario with every pool and every situation with every type of filter into a video. At 4:38 I do show how to vacuum. You can also vacuum to waste if there is a large amount of dirt. Many times vacuuming to filter will do the job just fine.
Barbara Richards he is missing may steps
I know my question is probably not gonna get answered since I’m late watching this video but I didn’t need to watch it until now. I have an above ground vinyl pool with a cartridge filter. It was green when I opened it. I’ve got rid of the algae but now I have the white particles floating in pool. Some settles to the bottom and I am able to vacuum it but theirs still free floating particles. I read not to floc the kind of pool I have. What do I do? Please someone help. Thanks!
Did you vacuum on waste or filter?
This was a cartridge filter, so it was cleaned when needed. It's good to vacuum to waste when needed. Thanks for watching.
Wow very dirty pool not maintained at all.....🤮
Thanks for sharing 👍 and how to clean a pool.....
Looks like algae and dirt just brush the dam walls skim the leaves make sure your filter is clean backwash it.. than shock the crap out of the pool use CAL-HYPO OR DI-CLOR .. put some tabs in a chlorine floater....let pump run over night and if it cleared up you will have a lot of dead age on bottom than now you got to vacuum pool on waste to get all the crap out than backwash again and rinse than back to filter ..if that don't work you got to floc the pool
I've tried every trick read every thing about getting sand out of pool, after two seasons, I decided, to try out a idea I had, believe me this works best, my pool floor is the cleanest I've ever gotten it, this is what I do, I don't use the skimmer attachment, I put hose directly into skimmer pipe, Oh, I have a above ground pool, but will work on any pool, now I put reg. vacuum hose pipes and attach a small brush head onto the pool hose, when you do it this way, you don't lose suction, as I did when I followed pool vaccum instructions, only problem I had was I had too much suction, it sucked up my pool liner and the sand underneath the pool, left a indention, which I smoothed out with my foot, then I laid the brush head against my foot in a angle, not to be flushed to pool, but the suction power is so powerful, it does a wonderful job, before I did this, I'd vacuum pool like they said, it looked clean, until hours later, when the sand would settle back in bottom of pool, so really all the vacuum did was stir the sand, but my way cleaned it all up, I vacuum the pool walls and using the small brush head I'm able to get in those tight spots like around and under the ladder steps. and you keep you pump on filter, I hope this helps everyone dealing with vacuuming their pools, I did mine last week, still clear, no more grit, or sand.
