  • Forrest Galante gets hooked up to a true river monster, a prehistoric dinosaur, known as the White Sturgeon in British Columbia, Canada. Fishing stories like these only come around once in a generation. This massive fish was once nearly an extinct animal, but thanks to conservation work from individuals like Yves, they have rebounded to healthy numbers.

Bull Shark - in parts of Florida, they eat them up in a neighborhood BBQ. Now, I wouldn't eat any fish meat taken from these polluted oceans, but I would definitely catch a big ol' Bull shark so it fed lots of people.

Salmon, lampray, and sturgeon are such great assets to our ecosystem. As well as beavers. Which we definitely need to introduce more of.

I swear it looks like these guys raided my gear and clothes. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve fished this same areas too. I fished mainly in Oregon and Washington but often went up to BC for salmon and sturgeon. Sturgeon fishing is a total blast. About three summers ago I was bass fishing in Southeast Portland on the Willamette River and hooked a 37lb sturgeon. It took me 45 minutes to reel it in. I was using a 8-17lb Lamiglas bass rod with 30lb braid, 10lb leader, and a skirted bass jig. Hooking and being able to pull it in with that setup makes absolutely no freaking sense.

We have lake sturgeon in my area and me and a buddy were fishing one of our rivers for carp and he hooked on. Was about 5 feet of water and we could see the bottom clearly and it took 300 yards of line like it was nothing. Once my buddy tried tightening the tension on his line it snapped like nothing. Unfortunately we weren't set up for that size fish, lol.
