Marc I like this format, please keep up answering the comments, you are doing the answers with a lot of respect to the writer
You mentioned giving winnings to a spouse. I think I'd have a better chance of getting it back if I put it back in the machine 😂😂😂😂😂
LOL
Lol
Hahahaha nice!
😂😂😂😂 Facts!
Also, you need to have a spouse to even consider. Lol 😂
Thanks for the education! You have debunked many myths and fallacies that I fell for in the past!
I’m here for the deep math videos 😂
My goal whenever I go in is to not chase my losses, leave when I get up or hit a bonus and overall be a disciplined gamer.
Always pocket the profits 🎰
Thank you Marc, great video, very informative!
Awesome Marc Very informative 😊
Great idea to do follow-up videos, Marc! 💯👏👏👏
Where i live in Wisconsin we only have tribal casinos. Can you one day make a video about the differences between commercial casinos and regulations, or lack of regulations and their control over slot machines. Thanks Mark . Love your informative videos
Marc and Brantley have discussed tribal casinos on Cowboy Slots. Sounds like they're even more strictly regulated and preferable to Vegas if my memory serves me correct.
I am in Washington state. Same, they only Tribal casinos. I know they use what is called Bingo type slots. I have heard it some what explained. I would be nice to hear it from Gamble Smart. I do use the play low volatility games method first. It seems that they can be set up that way, similar to RNG with different types of volatility . But not sure how they do that...
Oh - cool I did a search on Cowboy slots and found 3 videos talking about Bingo based slots that they use at Tribal casinos
Terrific tutorial! Thank you for this Marc.
My goodness have you guys upped your game with this video! Great information. Great channel. Keep it up my friends! 😮
I have a problem. Almost every time I’ve had a big win, it’s been after I pass my walk away limit and keep playing. I know it’s not good. I know I shouldn’t do it. But then it pays off big for me. I know it’s just random luck… but this has encouraged me to keep playing past my walk away limit.
You are not alone - this is the most difficult thing gamblers face. This is why we strongly urge the use of cash boxes and taking breaks. It will take time to introduce into your system, but the payoff will be worth it.
You're growing like crazy! So happy for you guys (and Jodes). Happy, and thankful for everything you teach us ❤
Thank you! ♥️
Wow, thanx so much again Marc. You are a "master mind" 🧠
Very good video. Liked that you addressed a bunch of issues that you touched on in other videos -essentially a summary compilation. These are the types of videos I share with my fellow gambling friends because they sometimes just believe what they want to believe! Confirmation bias really does come into play. I guess if you’re going for an evening of fun, believe what you want, but if you gamble a lot, then you should believe the truth of how things actually work!
Hi Marc, I love this video on how you answer questions from previous videos. Keep it up and Good Luck!
Thanks, will do!
Love your directions and no nonsense follow through of questions.
Awesome video. I really love how you break it all down into play easy to understand terms. Great job. appreciate your time.
Love it Marc. Keep it up.
Lot of good info, thanks for all you do!
Great ideas and tips Marc
Great video Marc
Great video Marc! Very informative with lots of good reminders on things smart gamblers should be aware of such as confirmation bias. As for a video on math, I'm not a math nerd, but I would love for one to be done as it would definitely explain how things work. If there's one thing people should know about math... it never lies.
Well said!
Thanks for the helpful answers as usual, especially RNG and how the payout percentage is calculated and distributed to the player. I always wonder about that.
Great advice! Thank you.
I appreciate the honesty! Thank you!
My pleasure!
nice video again and helpful :)
I love this type of video.
EXCELLENT !!!!! Thank you
I have a bachelors in accounting and a masters in finance. I live for the nerdy math videos! 🤓 More please!!
@GambleSmart
This is one of your best long duration videos you have ever made Marc responding to our comments and questions about gambling. I loved at the end of the video you have mentioned the cash lock box again. 🙂👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great information. thank you.
Would love a deep dive into the math. thank you for these videos.
Great video once again! It also shows that we need to put a bit more emphasis on the concept of probability in school! 🤦♂
As a math junkie, I agree!
great advice thanks
i once hit multiple bonusus on a wonka machine, and i could see it was glitchin out, so i took 95 and didnt press my luck. remember guys, if a machine breaks down, your winnings are gone
You’re good ! Straight and honest answers. I’ve tried numerous l
other technician channels that while one particular comes close to your level of explanation; but in the end no cigar!
I really find it way too hard to believe that when they go out live to casinos they get one hand pay after another.
Furthermore, they tend to concentrate on single Pauline machines: like double diamond. I too enjoy the old simple machines; but good luck in finding one any longer.
Anyway good job and I will be following you for now on….
Thank you so much - glad you found us!
You state that the payback is set and have to get permission to change the percentage but I’ve been going for 20 years and it has definitely changed since Covid. I believe they have gotten permission to lower their percentages to catch up with their losses. I don’t expect a hand pay ever but I enjoy a small win to continue to play. It’s not even fun .
You are 100% correct. I know by talking to slot managers that they have tightened the machines since Covid. The machines are absolutely horrible since Covid, the percentage of winning anything is almost impossible now. Especially at Hard Rock casinos. They have lost a lot of locals for that reason, including me. The only chance you have of winning a jackpot is to change casinos and change states. Go from casino to casino like in Vegas. That’s how the casino influencers win more, they travel from state to state and do casino hopping.
Great video
Great video Marc! Taking this advice and my wins from last week to Winstar this weekend. Free money! GSGS 👍
Good luck!
Yes on more math!
My hats off to you. It is very difficult to explain probability and statistics to those who have not studied these concepts. And these are not easy concepts to grasp quickly. I know it would be difficult to generate a video tutorial but perhaps links to other probability videos (they must exist) might help your viewers that have enough interest in the topic?
Thanks - we covered this a bit more in the "How Slots Actually Work" video, but if we do find an easy to understand video on statistics and probability, I will certainly share it.
Great video guys!
I play more online DraftKings and FANDUEL .
You have said the slots are the same basically with RNG so it’s better if I lose the dreaded ride home lol . Keep it up!!!
great. now you can lose sleep over your loss.
Re: sinmaster and deeper math ... Sure, make one, or more. Maybe make it a 'special or bonus' program so it doesn't hurt your algorithm.
You should do a video with a gaming commissioner as a guest. That would be fun.
We are working on it!
What happened if we play half way and the machine error and needs to be rebooted.
I beg to differ with you, a player does have a higher chance of winning when the pigs are bigger or the firecrackers are lit up higher. You are right about they may not hit no matter what but if the machine is hitting you will hit sooner if the subjects of machine are close to being hit. I know this by years of experience.
Please don't believe that - you're going to end up losing your butt on these machines. There are not "clues" to a machine being about to hit.
YES MORE MATH PLZ
a saying that really helps me is paraphrased from horton hears a who- a profit is a profit no matter how small
Randomness is awesome sometimes. I got two Royal Flushes within 10 minutes playing video poker sitting at the bar at a casino.
Sad geek that I am, I'd love some in depth maths videos. Thanks
Great video guys, have to say though I am a bit disappointed. You have never mentioned this surefire approach.... I have seen in 2 separate casinos in WA, the 4 cocktails, lick the screen and tap incessantly, then lick some more, and ensure proper bingo troll doll placement around the machine never fails..... at least never fails to get someone kicked out. Keep up the great content.
LOL Love it!
You forgot about the clapping of the hands!!!! Lol
Hi mate your honesty is so refreshing thanks. I'm in Australia are the machines programmed the same down here.?
I'm in Aus too.
I would imagine they're exactly the same.
I think the state regulations are 85% rtp here (Vic).
Not sure about other states or the casino.
quick question. If i am playing a $5 machine where the max bet is $10 and I only bet $5 is the spin different than what it would have been if I bet $10?
This and previous video were so informative. I play video Keno. The paybacks are better on some games than others. For example, I get bet back for 2 out of 5 on Caveman but have to get 3 out of 5 on most other games; however; doing so will pay back twice my bet. My assumption is that Keno controls payback percentage with these kind of odds and payback table. After listening to you, I was wondering if they also do it by randomly "blanking out" one or more of the 1 through 80 possibilities. Not sure you know, but would like confirmation that RNG does not take selected numbers as input into their algorithm. Thank you. Have not seen anyone explain logic of Keno games only how to play.
Keno or any game in the casino operates on the same math of probabilities. You will notice on a keno game where there is a some sort of feature, like free games or a multiplier for hitting "stone wheels" that it won't pay the same as hitting X amount of numbers on game of "straight" keno. The math is simply taking away from the payout of a more frequent outcome and giving it to a different outcome that is less likely but pays more then it would if the game didn't have this feature (e.g. free games or wheels that multiply your win). These features or bonus games within keno add to the volatility just as these things add to the volatility of slots.
It’s all about the timing of the hit and nothing else, and the machines are always hot because they never turn them off.
People make me laugh, when I tell them the truth, they’re always in denial..🥴😂 just hit n hope.
Slot machines are programmed to hit at certain times when they have a lot of traffic, example is breakfast, lunch and dinner. I observe the casino and know that’s how they operate. Occasionally they let a person hit in between. Late night players imo do seem to hit more too on weekends.
Unfortunately, that's not how they work. Each spin is completely independent and not based on past results, time of day, day of week, anything like that. They wouldn't be allowed to be called a slot machine if they had any influence like that. You may have noticed things like this, but that's just randomness messing with your mind. :) Thanks for watching!
Everything you said is absolute truth
Thanks Marc
Bottom line is it's all chance
I don’t Chase anything on a machine because I learned my lesson in my first year of playing
The payback percentages in Oklahoma can be changed electronically at any time. I was at Choctaw Durant Saturday and the machines were paying out over 100%. It was incredible and it doesn’t happen often. It was fun. I’ve been in the casino when the whole casino got dialed down and absolutely nobody was winning. I understand regulations can be in place but I also understand rules can be broken and people can and will be bought out
I’ve watched professor slots explain the ability to change paybacks on the fly. He said they would never do that because it wouldn’t be good for the casino. Well, I’ve seen people break machines when the paybacks were dialed back. I wish it was fair and honest but it’s not. Nothing is. I’ve seen and experienced all of this firsthand.
No, they can not do this - What you are describing is just variance in probability outcomes. Professor Slots does not have the experience like we have. Be careful what information you dijest and do some additional research. Check out this white paper if you are interested in learning more: gsgs.live/par
It’s not natural when the whole casino is blowing up winning with so many hand pays all around and then other times the whole place is dead. It’s not by chance. Winstar is generally better than Choctaw but not this last Saturday. - the paybacks can be absolutely set above 100% - it doesn’t happen often but they can manipulate the casino floor anytime
You're able to watch the entire casino floor at Choctaw Durant? No, they can not be set above 100% - that's not possible at all. But, I'm sure I won't be able to convince you otherwise and that's ok.
I’m not trying to poop on your channel or post. I’m just giving my opinion on what I’ve seen, learned and heard. The professor slots RUclips channel gave me information that is one of the puzzle pieces to what’s going on in the casino. It’s not as simple as everything is set to a certain payback percentage. Maybe some casinos do this? I don’t know. I myself have been researching and playing for years and years. I’m going to continue playing because it’s challenging and fun. I believe I have a pretty good idea of how the whole strategy of slots from the casino side is. Everything I know is theory because nothing can ever be proven because it’s all computers and conspiracy
Is there a way to see the paybacks for all casinoes and or games. I live in south ms lots of casinoes
Please make a more in depth breakdown of the math. Great content, thank you for the information.
Reno Nevada, what are your thoughts on the high limit slots.
Yes please for advanced math explination.
We are avid gamblers, land and sea based for 40 years. Cruise casinos in my opinion have way worse payback odds then do the land based. I play the same slots titles on both and notice a huge difference.
This is true. Cruise casino games do have worse odds, it’s a common fact.
if you know that why do you play at sea? i am baffled.
@@DrSchor We quit about 5 years ago from cruises. I was making a statement from experience.
Great video! As far as paybacks for different denominations, what if it’s a multi denomination machine? Example 1cent can bet up to 500 credits and switch it to 5cent and bet 100 credits 10cent 50 credits and so on. Is it still using the same chip or RNG program or does that change when you change denominations? Thank you!
Keep telling people the truth, maybe someday they will listen. Thanks for video!
Love this video but really want to know more detailing math. Basically there are a ton of slots with multiple denominations. You said that normally the casino sets the penny at the low percentage and the higher 100 dollar at a higher percentage payout. In the multiple denominations machines are the percentages the same? I know Vegas has laws setup that Casinos have to pay out higher percentages based on denominations or total bet(Can't remember which). From a percentage payout standpoint is it better to bet 10 cent denomination total bet of 5 dollars or penny denomination at total bet of 5 dollars, or it doesn't matter at all? Thank you, great video!!
75% of us play more than “we are comfortable with”.
It’s the Nature of the Beast.
…and yet like the Impala in the Serengeti, we are vulnerable.
I play slots on my iPad. By divorcing my wallet from the equation, I can sit back and watch the machines at work.
Even with virtual money, I still lose over time.
On real machines, no matter what the machine pays me, it’s not a win until I walk out with the money in my pocket! 👍
You don't win until you stop playing!
If the casinos have no control over changing the pay out percentage or modify the machines on the fly how is it when the casinos were hacked in las Vegas large amounts of machines went offline at the same time? Appreciate your videos!
It's because the ticket in, ticket out systems were impacted, thus, not allowing people to cash out. They could have left the machines on (and they did leave some on), but it would have been a staffing nightmare trying to hand pay everyone on cash out.
Also the guy that lost a bunch of money had different timing when hitting the button then the new guy that started playing and hit 2 jackpots...So alot of times I think its just timing...as they say "Timing Is Everything!" 😊👌
If that is true, then there should be some times that are the best. What are they?
Great videos!
Loved the breakdown of how individual spin results are selected. Following on that - what is the math behind bonus rounds? Is the full payout for a bonus round determined at the time a “bonus” outcome is selected by the RNG? Are the individual free game spins or hold&spin rounds just “window dressing” building up to a predetermined score or is each free game its own independent RNG selection event? Also, since bonus round outcomes cover vast monetary ranges, how do these align with the overall machine payout percentages, as generated by the RNG selecting from a pay table over the life of the machine? Thanks
A lot to unpack there but as far as bonus rounds.....If the bonus round involves spins the RNG is picking a random outcome each spin. "Pick" bonuses are usually predetermined before you start picking. Bonus games will have a known average payback just as the base game does. It's just the bonus is obviously going to have an expected payback much more favorable to the player. This can all be averaged together to determine what the payback % for the game will be. Hope that helps.
In Australia the machines have a gamble feature where you can pick between red or black to double your win or you can pick clubs spade hearts or diamond to quadruple your win. How does that work in terms of picking the correct one is it rng or is it pre determined or something else
Double up is a fair wager with no house edge. The probability of doubling is 0.5. The probability of doubling and then doubling again is 0.5^2. And so on. The probability of quadrupling is 1/4. Casinos can offer this because you are losing the hold to get there and they will come out ahead as often as you will.
An ent is truly not random. Nothing in the thermodynamic world is random. In quantum world random is present. The ring is based on a large number of pulls and then picks from those predetermined pulls.
So, what you are saying is that Casino Gaming is a business structure built around Randomness, Variance, Luck or as I like to say, Lady Luck 😉I really enjoy going to the Casino, I could live at a poker table, it feels like I am at home. 😊
The gaming business does not rely on luck. The games will take in a very predictable amount of profits over time. They have time on their side so they don't need luck. The players on the other hand need luck to win in the short term.
Years ago I spent 2 weeks at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in the Dominican Republic. Played my favorite machine every day/night and noticed that the bonus was always lower the next time I played. Two nights running I stayed until the casino closed and I was escorted out. The next day I walked to breakfast (before the casino opened) and noticed the bonus had been reset lower - I thought this was illegal!!
That should not be legal or even possible - I'd have to know more details about the story as well as some kind of proof. They aren't allowed to reset progressives or banked bonuses whenever they want.
Sounds fishy to me! I too would like to know more about this!!
here is what you need to know: you were in the dominican republic. what are you gonna do? sue them? they marked you.
What about: max volume increases chance of jackpots?
what is the point? there are two possibilities:
1. low volume and max volume are the same bad chances
2. low volume makes your chances worse
either way, the house wins
Love your channel, quick question, when you get into a bonus on like a dancing drum and your picking mini, minor, major, and grand. My question is I understand its predetermined, but is it predetermined that you could win a grand or major and you just didn't select it or it really doesn't matter what buttons you push?
In that scenario, it really doesn't matter what you pick. The moment you triggered the progressive pick bonus, it was already decided.
Do you have any advice for playing electronic Keno machines?
Tribal land casinos are bingo pattern based payouts..so isn't the payouts already pre determined if it's all based on bingo patterns? But if the play is in bonus then the payout is based on how many #s matches on different bingo card within bonus round?
Hi Marc~ Thank you for your info! I'm late at the gate but I do have a question. I see people "stop" machines instead of waiting the spin to finish. Does that make any difference? A tech at a casino told me when people stop the reel, that is where it would have stopped anyway (?) This has bothered me for quite some time! Thanks 🙂
The tech was correct. The moment you do the spin or pull the handle, the result was already determined. Fast stopping it does nothing.
Guys, if a device completely separate from the slot machine (player card reader) can raise or lower the odds on the machine, then I or anyone can build a hacking device that can raise or lower the odds. That's why they don't work like that.
Thanks for all of your information on slot machines. Here is one question I have. Are there multiple RNGs on a machine that have bonus features? I can understand the RNG to set the symbols that may trigger a bonus, but then what happens when you are in a bonus itself? Are you saying that there is only one RNG and the value of the bonus is also determined at the time you hit a spin bonus or is there a separate RNG for bonus spins? Thanks again for all of your information.
the bonus spins are there to psyche you out. there is only one rng.
The % payout (or pay back %) set by the manufactures and the RTP (Return to Player), are they the same thing? if not, how are they related? Thank you.
We have a video coming up soon that will talk all about this :)
Great information! I have a question….Since each spin is random why is it that most influencers, after they hit a jackpot, will do backup spins?? Seems it wouldn’t matter leaving the machine on a win!!!! Just curious…
It's mostly etiquette than anything else. People feel that it's bad luck if you leave a big win on a machine. :)
I can understand that but deep down you know that’s a myth as well! You can also look at it as a lucky machine! I guess to each of us its different as long as we’re having fun!!
you answered your own question: it does not matter
When they designed slots with massive advantage player logical weaknesses like Scarab, what the heck were they thinking?! Did nobody say "I wonder if someone would come up and purposely play it closer to 10 because the last player left it that way." Then they hover around the machine all day like a vulture since they can reliably always win. Did nobody consider that casinos might not like that?
THEN
make the same mistake on modern slot design like Regal Riches with the blue crystal count going above 8, which has been proven to be advantageous.
It's all designed to keep the player playing. There are certain rules in place to prevent them going TOO FAR with this, but your example of Scarab and Regal Riches is a good example of what they can do.
9:55 and at a Native American casino outside of Vegas? I don't think we have a "gaming commission" in my state.
Each tribe has a gaming commission.
You mention the gaming commission many times.does each state have their own gaming commission? How do these commissions work with tribal casinos? Are there states with tribal casinos that don't have a state run commission? My favorite gambling quote is "Every win is just a future loss" 😂
All licensed casinos have a gaming commission of some sort. Sometimes it's run by the state, sometimes by the lottery system, and sometimes by the tribe. The tribal gaming has to abide by the state rules in addition to their own, but the tribe itself has its own gaming commission.
Does the rng change when a certain amount is played to ensure payout at the designated percentage ?
No, we answered that question in the video here: ruclips.net/video/08o--cEXz0g/видео.html
JimmyScott proves your point in his own statement….in 18 years of playing slots, possibly millions of pulls over that time, ONCE…he won a couple big wins right after someone played the game. The same situation most likely happened many times before to him and he DIDN’T end up having big wins so it didn’t register in his mind. Just understand the math ppl!!
I know that the Cruise Line Industry Association sets out rules and regs for cruise casinos. And they even inspect the machines randomly. But it isn’t clear what jurisdiction’s gambling rules apply to the various cruiselines. Nevada? Where they’re flagged? Any intel on this?
i am pretty sure, nevada, being in the desert, is not flagged anywhere.
Hey! I’m just starting to watch this video, but in case it’s not in her, my question is does the payout differ between Native American and other casinos?
It can, but we don't know for sure. But, it's not an all or nothing situation. Some might be lower than Vegas, some might be higher.
I watched my mother in law play one time so I just put 700$ in a 5$ max bet machine and had my wife hit the button until it hit lol coldest machine in the casino, no free games bonus but it did hit (firelink) twice (about every 400$) we walked out with 1100. I am going back to try again soon with 1000 next time.
I was hoping for a comment, does anyone know if I am correct - I could see the firelink hitting a lot of the lower bet sizes so if I just put more money in I should hit it on the max bet and get more money back. It did work but I could see me hitting it but getting the lower payout a few times in a row then getting soaked before hitting a good one.
I’m in Australia so assume the machines are the same. When you have a win and then elect to gamble that - Red or Black. How does that work. Is it predetermined or truly random . Thanks
Ahh, the double up feature. I’m honestly not sure, but I’ll try to find out.
Someone once told me to ask myself "Why would the casino cheat?" They do everything legally allowed to take your money they have no reason to cheat anything into their favor even more. I would like to know if they can pull a machine at any time or are they contracted into a certain criteria for keeping the machine on the floor? Is there something keeping them from pulling a machine off the floor if it's way up in their favor so they don't give it back to the player or vice versa if the payback is seemingly too high can they pull it?
Generally, the only time they have to pull it is due to a license agreement that has expired. Some casinos also do rev share with the manufacturers in exchange for having to buy the machine out right. Those also have time limitations on them due to the contracts involved.
I work in the casino and the lady that I work with daughter comes and plays every time she comes and plays she will hit a jackpot on whichever machine that she is playing on and apparently she does this every casino that she goes to. Is there such a thing as someone just being so lucky that they can do this all the time?
Devil is always in the details, but some people are just that lucky. However, it's worth noting, that people that talk about hitting jackpots all the time usually aren't talking about the losses that go into getting those jackpots. :) Just something to consider.
Does the casino know when the Gaming Regulation team are coming or do they just turn up ?
For audits, no, they do not know. But, for machine installs or changes, they have to book them well in advance.
I’ve seen videos online where the casino added jackpot amounts to a machine, is that because the machine is about to get retired and they are required to pay out a certain amount?
It’s because by law, progressives must be paid back to the players. So, if they take a machine off the floor and it had a progressive attached to it, that progressive must be combined with a progressive in another machine.
I have heard that you don't even need a symbol on the reels, it would hit if the reels were blank but, that would be boring!😊
That’s true. The reels are just visual.
