    this is a well made video. I really appreciated the speed action. No rambling audio. Captions to note work being done. Nice pro work. 7.33 minutes is much better than a 55 minute one I originally looked at.

    Thanks a ton, man. Very informative. One small note however, I recommend a pointed wooden dowel to clean out the old sealant from the corners instead of a screwdriver to minimize any chance of damaging the seating surface.

    Thank you for sharing! Its awesome to learn how to take care of your own vehicle with out having to pay someone when you don't have the extra cash.

    Excellent video, Jon! I was dreading this job, now I can't wait to jump on in there and get it done! One thing about the music though. It made me hit pause so I could crack open a beer!

    This was perfect. Thought the job would be simple enough and your video proved that. Thanks for the notes along the way. Looking forward to doing the work on my own vehicle now!

    So I just changed it today and just want to add the power steering bracket is 14mm not 12mm
    I took everything off but the hose clamps it would not budge. wish I could have, I wanted to spray the valve cover red
    When I took the old gasket out, it still looked new I did not see any rips or anything, but I hope changing it stops the oil leak I seen. Overall This video definitely helped and saved me money from paying $85 these shops were charging for something so easy with my part included!!!

      Thanks for the correction. When rubber gaskets get old they tend to become dry/stiff and do not seal as well.
      Hope it does fix your oil leak, sometimes it can be hard to pinpoint the leak.
      Again glad to help.

      Jon M. so after i changed the gasket and sprayed brakes cleaner to clean the oil drops off i notice oil leaking from the cam plug seal, i changed that as well so now i think it's good no more leaks! :)

    Nice I think I'm going to try this just got a 00' but it's leaking oil, doesn't look too hard and also I think I'm going to spray the cover black while it's off 😬

    • @jonstuff
      @jonstuff  9 лет назад

      FaTaLShOtSx It's not too hard of a job. The black paint was starting to come off of mine as well. Make sure to use high temp paint.

      ehh i want to do it but its too cold right now im in NY =\ might end up paying somebody even though id rather to myself since this seems so simple , already bought the gasket

    • @jonstuff
      @jonstuff  9 лет назад

      FaTaLShOtSx Yeah I hear ya. Maybe just wait for spring, if it's not too bad of a leak? So you can save yourself some scratch.

    I recently had my gasket changed, but the valve cover in my crv needs to be painted. I'm somewhat of a noob, but would I have to buy a new valve asket cover and any recommendations that I should be aware of? Thanks

    • @jonstuff
      @jonstuff  7 лет назад +1

      You may be able to re-use the gasket. But, if someone over torqued the cover and removing the old RTV sealant etc. forget it. I would probably just get a new one if it was me. Don't forget to use Permatex Ultra Grey RTV on the spots noted in the vid.

    Do the bolts have to be torqued down??

    • @jonstuff
      @jonstuff  9 лет назад +1

      Adrian Rodriguez The valve cover bolts are 7 lbs-ft. So not that tight at all, I just do it by feel as you see.
