since I moved here near Prescott, the population of the whole area has gone up 25%. In the last 5 years it has boomed. Not too hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter. Beautiful area for sure. I live in Dewey, so we get very little snow. Actually Prescott will get a couple of days where it gets 6 to 8 inches of snow, but normally it melts pretty quick. The movie Billy Jack was made in Prescott. Lots of free concerts on the plaza during the summer. Phippen Museum is in Prescott. The area is great for Jeeping and motorcycling (dirt and road).
I think Prescott has the best climate in Arizona, but we’re probably going to Phoenix since there’s more opportunities for us there. Once I get a degree and more career experience, Prescott is definetly a place where we would settle down.

I live in Prescott for 7 years. I eventually left due to the low paying jobs. I moved to the East Coast USA and had a job in a week way better then what I ever found in Prescott.
It was a small town but not now....still... we respect those that show us the same. Small town values hold dear here and please dont come here messing that up.
I don't want Prescott to grow, I wish I could have appreciated growing up in such a small town when I was growing up. Now when I see how expensive homes have gotten I get sad. Been gone since 91.
Prescott valley is exactly that, plains, we arent high desert, our terrain and climate is a biome called chaparral, which sits between forest and grasslands(plains)
A sizable portion of our population has no desire for Prescott to grow. We like it here and chose to live here for retirement living, although we have a population of parents very interested in the public schools. Fortunately for us a major obstacle to growth here is the lack of water. Developers must prove a 100 year supply of water to develop major growth. We don't have anything close to multinational corporations here. One of our largest industries is Ruger Firearms.
Not all of us here are here or chose to live here much less for retirement though. I'm completely against the growth happening, but I wish the retirement end of things wasn't such a huge focal point here,
The bigger issue with restricting growth is you'll end up in the same situation as certain parts of California where they've put massive roadblocks in for development, which results in a city where not even the locals and natives can afford to buy homes for their families. The demand for homes in the area, since Prescott is now a major destination for Californians with truckloads of home sale money, is going to go to the moon, while the city fathers sit back and vote no on all new subdivisions. The only answer at that point will be gentrification. You'll then end up with a population of people you really don't want to be around - think rich people living with people who are unable to provide for themselves (San Diego, San Francisco) and won't/cannot leave. I've seen this movie before...

Please don't turn Prescott into another denver, ugh. With all the traffic, pollution, and crime that would ruin it for good. I lived along the front range for 36 yrs, and couldn't wait to get away from all that.
I agree about Denver. I live on the western slope and we are getting Denver people by the droves. Denver is very expensive now. Wouldn't even consider it. Our small city is growing too fast to build housing for them. I want to get back to Arizona which was my home for 30 years. Maybe, I can get a cabin in the Prescott area too. Family lived there for a while and loved it.
Stumbled upon your video which was perfect. I'm a subscriber now and will view your other videos. I've been looking at Prescott for a long time and plan to make the jump later this year. We have several friends that live there which makes the transition a lot better. For me, 40,000 people is great. I live East of Sacramento on the I-80 corridor and it's a rat race that I'm tired of. 4 cities combines is about 200,000 people. I'm even open to Chino Valley , Prescott Valley, and Dewey.
Hey Jim, have you ever heard of Payson or even north of there in the area of Strawberry and Snowflake? You can really escape the rat race there and pretty nice place actually.
Its about equal here and by now prescott alone is over 40k population. They are putting in 40k more homes between prescott and chino valley and another bloody hospital. I would seriously consider not moving here. I live 7 miles from Prescott city limits. Reason 1- The water situation is getting worse. It's September 23 and we are supposed to be in the last week of monsoon season. What Monsoon season? Where I'm at we've only had a trace of rain 3 times since the start of Monsoon season 2020. I doubt that the city/county Town Council of Prescott/Prescott Valley have even let the water shortage enter their mind when approving new housing subdivisions. They may realize it but they could have Ostrich Bury Your Head Syndrome. In Prescott Valley there is supposed to be 43,000 new homes built in the next five years. They probably should give five 50 gallon barrels free with purchase of new home. When the water supply gets low neither town has mandatory water restrictions. Five wells in Chino Valley are supposed to be the water sources?? Reason 2-Nine percent tax rate. Reason 3- Housing is expensive unless you came from a big city in California. Reason 4-Roads are bad in some places, especially a large stretch of Highway 69 from Prescott Lakes Parkway intersection to Glassford Hill Road intersection and several in roads in both cities. Reason 5-There is a lot of Traffic on Highway 69 all day long. Reason 6- Very few senior apartments and low income apartments. If none of these reasons matter to you then by all means Come On Down. I almost forgot if you are single then you better make at least 25,000 a year after taxes.
I live on the western slope of Colorado and we have pretty much the same monsoon season as AZ. I live 30 miles north of the San Juan Mountains and we are in a real drought. We are drying up and continue to dry up. Not much rain yet and it is late June 2022. I want to get back to AZ this year after living there for 30 years.
Moving to the Prescott area next month, from Socialist Oregon. It reminds me of Bend, Oregon about 10 years ago, before it became overpopulated with liberal Californians. It appears the area is quickly following that trend, unfortunately. Most of the area is still very conservative, which is why I'm moving there. I will do my best to help keep it that way before it gets destroyed like Bend. 👍
Well howdy partner! I lived in Bend for 10 years and I know exactly what you're talking about. Oregon is the plague these days I like the climate that's why I moved to Prescott
Damn, literally sound like me. Also born and raised in Bend. Left Oregon for Tennessee but been looking at Prescott, since it seems exactly like how bend and central Oregon use to be and very similar climate and outdoors.
Any idea what the mosquito status is up there? I live just outside of Atlanta GA and am a prisoner in my own home from May to November. Unless I sloth on the poison repellent or wear mosquito netting I get snacked on relentlessly.
You might consider New Mexico if you don’t mind the politics, poverty, crime, etc. It’s the only place I ever lived where I wasn’t at the bottom of the food web. But I left because of the stubborn crazy corrupt politicians. And you get taxed like crazy and get nothing in return. But... nice sunshine and no mosquitoes.
Thanks for sharing the video That was a big help we are wanting to move to Arizona for retirement and have thought of Prescott! Where coming out there in September for vacation and will be looking around for a place. Also do you have any recommendations for cabins to rent?
Tucson and Phoenix are just too too big and too too hot. Prescott is better even though it's still too hot and too cold for me. Do they have a water shortage though?
I heard snow and no longer interested. I am looking into Arizona and of all the videos I have watched you seem to be the most informative. I an going to subscribe and hopefully find the right type of area I am looking for.
Prescott typically will get a couple of snow periods. Usually 6 inches once or twice. I live in Dewey, 15 miles to the East and about 750 feet lower in elevation. We get maybe 2 inches of snow twice during the winter. In the 12 winters I lived here I only shoveled one time. I am from Michigan so I know what snow is. It does not compare. We also have much cooler summers than in Phoenix. We can actually go out and do things in the summer. That is when all the action is.
Here’s what you need to know: WE love our guns WE like to hunt , WE drive big ass trucks , WE don’t like weak ppl ! , WE keep to ourselves and expect you to mind your own business, WE know there NO jobs and WE have a lot of dangerous elderly ppl driving! WE have a lot of coyotes and BIG cats here waiting for your little dogs and WE like our town the way it is . Ppl will mysteriously disappear at least that happened after I’ve been here. There’s NOTHING to do for kids
Not low that's for sure. And if you have dogs forget it ! Also we aren't a major city lile LA or San Fran or Phoenix even so we do t have every amenity under the sun. Its mostly a out door recreational and huge cowboy town, Rodeo is a huge deal here in the summer.
Very high prices for everything. Californians selling their homes and businesses for astronomical prices, come to Prescott and bid on homes, apts. against each other and drive prices beyond the reach of most people. Some businesses feel they can get in on the gravy train and raise their prices. Is radon gas still an issue? Any headway with govt. abatement programs?
I live in Denver metro and don't see Prescott becoming another Denver metro. Denver metro is over 3 million people, freeways with horrible traffic, much bigger, lots of snow in winter, and large corporations with high paying jobs. I don't see large corporation with high paying jobs moving to Prescott. Prescott has much milder winters than Denver. I see Prescott metro becoming another Santa Fe, wealthy people moving in from CA and driving up the cost of living, both high desert communities and southwestern culture and lifestyle. As more people discover Prescott, it will become a popular high desert place, just like Santa Fe.
As always, enjoyed your commentary and words of experience and wisdom. Disappointed we did not get your walking or driving tour, just saying. I know you are trying to abide by COVID guidelines but perhaps another go in the future.
Lots of building going on up here, Prescott valley has43k Prescott has 42k. 500 homes under construction now and apts going up ,2 hospitals. Lots of doctors.
I heard not many office jobs here. I heard a lot of rehab and I guess if one is a rehab counselor you may want to work here. So are many ppl homeless here?
IF you don't have a 6 figure income then expect to live in a run down shack> a rental in the price range of 1500.00 to 2500.00 a month. Old people with the why did you move here attitude and very bad options of every one but them self's.
we are growing too fast and houses going up in all 3 you mention. I live in chino valley and homes here going up fast and alot of them ...cost has doubled last 7 yrs. for housing
I know this is late but dont....winter becomes a damn traffic jam due to snowbowl being only one of two places In the state to ski or board. Flag is great to visit but not live...highest prices in the state
Let's stop growing Urban and Suburban Sprawls..... Villages, Towns and small Cities surrounded by expansive Rural is a much healthier balance. Thanks for great video, planning on retiring in Prescott Area (on ranch style).
Love how many suicides and great police brutality stem from here, a 19 year old shot a 16 year old in the face...drive bys and all the great stuff. Thanks development.
Use to be really nice, but SUCKS now; way overcrowded (Invaded by CA, TX, WA, OR...), a lot of homeless, ton of drug rehab centers, no longer a nice small town. Good luck in finding a Dr or DDS, or a nice house for less than $700K. Tell people the truth about this place Mr. Real Estate (money in my pocket) Guy!!!
@@timothygarrahan2122 You mean the same way CA was invaded by the rest of the country since the 1930s which ruined my home state? It was all fun and games when CA was getting ruined, but now that it’s going the other direction we are supposed to feel bad for you?
Are the drivers in Prescott as bad as those down here in the valley (Phoenix and surrounding cities)? Its like Russia down here, most people drive 20 - 30 miles over the speed limit and cut you off on one lane roads because you're not going 70 down residential streets. I want to move somewhere in Arizona where people are a little more chill. All I need is fast internet, I have an online business so moving to an area that may not have a lot of job opportunities is not an issue, maybe that will keep the Mad Max drivers away.
You know, advocating for major cities in Arizona is not the way to go, the last thing we need is a bunch of citiots from California or New York moving here, not only that there is not enough water to do it in the first place, so saying it's going to be like Denver is foolishness.

Fallon Ocean it’s a dusting, it’s nothing to worry about.
It melts in 2 days
Go to Phoenix they will love you there
@@JC-zt5dp I don’t want to live in a major city. I like a suburb type feel size town
Exactly
..NOT WELCOME
You sound like a happy person ...😂
prescott valley use to be all farm land and now is huge and family oriented
Theres a small town called Humboldt Arizona it's on the way to Prescott or Phoenix
great video!
Watching from Japan
Prescott: What is the price of an apartment? High, low, medium and amenities and shopping
It varies a lot
700-800 normal .... with meth 600
Heard they got a burning crystal problem..
Lots of building going on up here, Prescott valley has43k Prescott has 42k. 500 homes under construction now and apts going up ,2 hospitals. Lots of doctors.
Good to hear! I’m planning on moving to Arizona after I graduate college in 2025.
watson lake is by far the best for the scenery of rocks and colors etc.
you need to take a trip to Prescott 01-01-2023
I heard not many office jobs here. I heard a lot of rehab and I guess if one is a rehab counselor you may want to work here. So are many ppl homeless here?
I have been there 3 times this year and only have seen 2 homeless people. Very refreshing coming from Seattle...
I weld 50 plus hours a week...great pay and benefits. If you dont have experience in manufacturing...then yeah your looking at no options.
I didn't tune in so you could read me excerpts from WIkipedia, which I can do myself.
IF you don't have a 6 figure income then expect to live in a run down shack> a rental in the price range of 1500.00 to 2500.00 a month. Old people with the why did you move here attitude and very bad options of every one but them self's.
really sad
Don’t need em anyway ....
Try Bill's Pizza on Cortes across from the courthouse. Just like in New York.
Do you know the time frame for the growth for that 39% projected in Prescott?
The state of Arizona is currently in a housing boom
@@LivinginArizona u fortunately
Well that rules out AZ for me.
Sweet vid
Yea, you’re right! It’s too small and too cold…stay away! 😂
we are growing too fast and houses going up in all 3 you mention. I live in chino valley and homes here going up fast and alot of them ...cost has doubled last 7 yrs. for housing
we have a lot of real cowboys here and so much history
The Road he was zoomed in on where he called it the Bradshaw's isn't the Bradshaw's, it's senator HwY
What are your thoughts about moving to Flagstaff??
I know this is late but dont....winter becomes a damn traffic jam due to snowbowl being only one of two places In the state to ski or board. Flag is great to visit but not live...highest prices in the state
Let's stop growing Urban and Suburban Sprawls.....
Villages, Towns and small Cities surrounded by expansive Rural is a much healthier balance. Thanks for great video, planning on retiring in Prescott Area (on ranch style).
Amen !
I miss AZ
Love how many suicides and great police brutality stem from here, a 19 year old shot a 16 year old in the face...drive bys and all the great stuff. Thanks development.
What!! 🥶
Thnks
Deschutes brewery in Oregon is pretty good
I love Bend.
Wife got offered a job there, know nothing about this area but am definitely not enthused about it being full of people from CA, OR, and WA.
@@timothygarrahan2122 You mean the same way CA was invaded by the rest of the country since the 1930s which ruined my home state? It was all fun and games when CA was getting ruined, but now that it’s going the other direction we are supposed to feel bad for you?
That's where I live at. 👍
good video but "out of Africa" is in camp verde, about an hour away.
Is there any airport near Prescott or is phoenix the only big airport
Regional Airport in Prescott
In other words, you probably want to go to PHX.
Those rocks are not granite, they are sandstone
You know, advocating for major cities in Arizona is not the way to go, the last thing we need is a bunch of citiots from California or New York moving here, not only that there is not enough water to do it in the first place, so saying it's going to be like Denver is foolishness.
@@daviddurflinger3104 California is just repatriating the offspring of the carpetbaggers that moved to CA and ruined our home. Now CA is shipping their children and grandchildren back home where their families came from. Everyone saw CA on tv and in the movies since the 40s and 50s. They moved to CA and ruined it for those of us that were born and raised there. Don’t expect us to shed a tear for you now that things are moving back in the other direction.
Pres-scott
What is the main industry in Prescott ?
Main jobs in Prescott AZ ruclips.net/video/K98PZtcsRWc/видео.html
I think its either Construction, Real Estate or Tech jobs. But the first two are inconsistent
Mainly construction and health care
Tourists
Honestly if you have any manufacturing experience...this is the place...
This is a hard working place that you must have skills for or you'll work at burger king.
Mmmmm ........ Interesting : ) ....... Peace on Earth : ) .........
Too late, there are already way to many people from California there ruining the town. It used to be a nice get away from the Valley. Not anymore, it’s sad. Also, soon they will have to ration water, lawn watering, and the traffic from tourist make going downtown dangerous. Sorry, it used to be so nice.😕
I'm from Phoenix so forgive me I'm not around snow, if it snows up there shouldn't you have a large water well
You mean "press-scott" even the killer bee guy says it that way
Local preferred pronunciation is “press kit”. God knows why.
Nobody talks about crime and the demographic I'm kind of curious could anybody answer this for me thank you
Great I'm scared of bees
we have the biggest national forrest in the usa
Is it pronounced Preskitt or Prescott?
Dave Carlyle kitt. Like biscuit.
KITT, that’s with the locals call it. But obviously not spelled that way. It’s like living in Missouri and calling it MissourA
Locals call it Preskitt, some pronounce it Prescott. There's no 'I' in Prescott is how look at it.
I am sure a rodeo is great. But the important things are Healthcare, Medical care and well Healthcare? Then safety and cost of living.
Cost of living is absurd here, most of us local 20 something's can barely keep a roof over our head. It's a joke. One of the houses downtown is 3k a month 😠
Longest running rodeo.
You said oldest rodeo
Can't touch Prescott.
Homes are out of reach now.
Bitcoin and Prescott.
Same concept. Going up.
YAHH wtf... it's like someone forgot their brain!
Valley fever
Sorry. Boring video. Seems like a place to retire but not a good place to live if you want to work FT and not drive over 20 miles to work
Way too close to COMMIEFORNIA
Prescott is perfect until the Calies get here.
lol are you sure it's not them junkies blown in!
@@terrygross5315 The rest of the country including AZ should have kept their carpetbagging relatives home where they belong instead of sending them to ruin California for the last 70+ years. Now the rest of the country is getting back exactly what they gave California. Go cry me a river.
100 years from now this whole country will be concrete
Jason Friend would be nice to see urban planners think ahead a bit
And I'll be long gone, screw Az by then, screw Prescott by then
Cali people you're cool...we're good
Another lie, not largest rodeo, “oldest rodeo 🙄.” Should really know what you’re talking about before making a video.
He literally pointed that out.
Listening to you talk literally makes me want to scratch my eyes out
longliveDAC wow man you had better stop listening. 🛑 we wouldn’t want you to do that yourself.
Is this how you actually pronounce Prescott?? Fuck.
We wish these Cali migrants would find someplace besides Prescott.
@@lynnekincaid9087 Should have thought of that before all the AZ, Pacific Northwest, and east coasters ruined CA and forced the locals out their homes. You are getting what you gave us for 70+ years.
And it's pronounced Pres-kit. People will correct you if you pronounce it like it's spelled. Lol
