Thank you so much. Just was in your lovely town last week as my son was visiting Embry-Riddle. His heart is set on going there. We only were able to spend about 6 hours in Prescott that day as we were staying in Tempe....so your videos have been extremely informative! We live in a small town in Northern California that also has a square downtown with a park surrounding it, and although he had wanted a big college and a city experience initially, he really did say Prescott "feels alot like home!"
Very informative video. My girlfriend and I from Maryland totally enjoyed our visit to Prescott a few years ago,..and,...had considered it as a retirement ''maybe''.Unfortunately over the last few years, it has gone from mildly affordable,..to mostly unaffordable,.....to completely unaffordable (for us). Not anyone's fault,...like so many other areas that have been ''discovered'',...the more the prices go up, up,.....and up,......including Prescott and almost all of Arizona.
Thank you for the video. I am really liking the idea of moving there as a retired person. I proudly fly the US flag, have a Marine son who served in Iraq, and am conservative and maybe that would be a good fit for me.
Glad you enjoyed the video. It’s an amazing town and place to call home. There is always something to do, the scenery is gorgeous and we have the nicest people! If we can be of any help in the future let us know. Thanks for watching.
Your videos on your channel are so informative!! I recently stumbled across Prescott/ Prescott Valley when searching where we want to end up after my husband retires from the military. I am so excited to visit the town in the near future. All of the amenities that the town offers is exactly what we need.
Love all you videos! Have been very helpful as we have been pondering about retiring in Prescott or Prescott Valley. We will also add to the red for sure one of the things we love about Prescott, the patriotism law enforcement friendly etc...! Might be emailing you or calling upon you when we are a bit closer to coming out there to check things out:)
My husband "discovered" Prescott as a hidden gem 7 years ago, sold everything he owned to move there with his RV, and could not afford anything but a trashy single-wide in PV, until we got married, and even then we realistically could not live in Prescott and still enjoy retirement, so we bought in nearby Chino Valley. If you move here from California, Washington, or Oregon, don't reveal that in casual conversation. That makes you "suspect. " LOL. That is also why we love it here! BEST weather, BEST part of Arizona (close to everything fun or interesting to visit.) But don't come here to buy, we are already full. Just come here to visit and spend your tourist dollars.
Bought my second home in PV in the Pronghorn Ranch subdivision this past April. Retiring First Responder in 2 years. Good luck trying to keep people out.
There is ZERO limits on gobbling up land in PV and turning them into circle Ks or ghastly over 55 homes, shame on PV governance for not standing up to greedy developers, they are ruining that place!!!
When was this done, now in Prescott valley there are more stores like dicks, PetSmart and others lots of grocery stores. They just built a mini mall in between Prescott valley and Prescott but is only stores like maybe kohls, target, Barnes and noble. There are some but not like Macy's high end stores only in the valley not up north.
Sounds ideal to me... I'd move there in a heartbeat if I could afford to leave NZ.... My daughter endorses my idea too as she knows the area fairly well.... I think I'd fit in there well....

This is a nice overview of Prescott. Too bad about the mall. Many of the mall stores seem to have closed super early, compared to other malls. I think that on-line shopping has killed off many malls. I visited a sporting goods store at another location in the early evening and had the whole place to myself. It was unreal. I don't know how retailers survive in Prescott.
@@livinginprescott I was there yesterday and again today. I've never seen a mall with people playing sports inside like that. Would you please explain what you meant in your segment on car registration? I was shocked by your statement that you could pay up to $1000 for a new but "nothing fancy" car. Is car registration calculated differently per county or per city? I know someone in the Phoenix area who bought a new Honda Pilot in 2016, and his car registration was around $500 for the first year. Thanks.
Yes, all registration is based in year and value of a vehicle. I believe it’s a state calculated charge. Therefor you can drive a 2020 full size 1 ton truck and still pay $800+ for registration. Or you can drive a 2002 canary let’s say and only pay $40 a year. So in my personal opinion it’s pricey. The newer and more expensive the vehicle the more expensive the registration. It decreases as the car ages.
Yes the firemen did a great job keeping all the cabi communities in and above walked safe . Thank fire eas nasty for some reason they keep happening near crown king, very weird. Hopefully that will stop. Thanks for sharing

I am thinking about buying an empty lot/land in Prescott. I am wanting at least 1/2 acre or more. I want to build a reserve 1.5 story on a hill. My house design includes a three-car garage and RV garage so the lot size really should be an acre or more. I prefer to have a hill so the house design can allow for a walkout basement. I plan to buy the land and build in a few years from now....
There should be plenty of land options for you as we have fairly hilly terrain in some areas of Prescott. If we can be of any help reach out. Always glad to assist. Thanks for watching.
Prescott and the adjacent valleys are nice pleasant areas. It is always a pleasure visiting. Contemplated moving there many times. Have friends who have moved there. Engaged in many new home tours. Really like the Jasper community. Unfortunately homes prices keep increasing significantly. High demand low inventory. Still can’t get to the point to step away from So. Cal. Family, friends, and specific activities hold us back from leaving. We can step away from family and friends, but our activities are not accommodated in Prescott. For sure in Phoenix, except the beach, but too time consuming to drive from Prescott to Phoenix multiple times a week to participate in our interests. However, if CA keeps increasing taxes, and pushing extreme left politics, those issues will surely push us to make the move. Notwithstanding the drawbacks. Speaking of drawbacks, every state and city has its issues. Some more than others. It is just a matter of choosing a place where the good outweighs the bad, and adapting. In the meantime, we have a 2nd home in Cottonwood. A nice retreat with fine dining, outdoor activities, and close to Sedona. It is also close to Prescott, Jerome, and about the same distance to both Flagstaff and Phoenix. Our little Cottonwood is a growing city as well. Thus Home prices are shooting up there too. A funny side note. During the pandemic, we went to Prescott Costco for the timeframe dedicated for seniors. Thought we would get right in like here at home. Wrong. The line was about two blocks long. We left. It was like the entire city was there. Seems seniors are the majority in Prescott. So much for senior day advantages. 😂
Moved to Prescott from LA, I drive a 2019 Lexus and only paid 400 for my registration. And if I remember correctly I paid 600 in LA If you live here you need Verizon The hardest part of moving to Prescott was losing the big town big city amenities. If shopping matters to you a lot to you..... You have to be okay with driving 2 hours to Scottsdale. The hiking is amazing though. I love that. Everywhere so far seems dog friendly. Weather is great.
In summer we go up a lot to our cabin to escape heat and noise in winter it's hard to get up the mountain even though snow plows try to keep it clear it's a dirt road very bumpy still even though they snoothed it used to be worse. If no chains no get up it very steep.as a kid when we went up there to live for a couple weeks we made it slowly up that in a car we'd go up then slide back it felt like it took forever. Thus steep mountain is just above walked then we go down again to potato patch then up again we are on black life mountain. Anyways we go when it's safe too we always check to make sure in news no fires. Last year 2022was a bad one it came real close to potato patch and walker it was a bad one thank God it did not do anything to our community yo there that's our only way y get away can't afford a real vacation.
The car shows are awesome, doesn't matter what you own, import, domestic, or classic. We love them here. I'd like to see more luxury brands such as Audi, Lexus or Mercedes Benz open dealers in Yavapai county. The area lacks a lot of amenities for the higher end clientele.
My teenage son is planning on attending Embry Riddle in Prescott in Fall of 2024. He is a huge car enthusiast and into both classic cars and drifting cars...I hope he can find other like minded young people in the area!
About the registration, I currently live in Tucson, when you register don't you register with the state? Can't I just drive down to the Valley and updates registration there? Sorry if this is a dumb question, never really thought too much about registration before, just did it.
I was in Prescott about 10 years ago when in rehab, and it looked like such a great place. Once I serve my probation in Cali for assault & battery, I plan to move to Prescott.
We have met a few people who found and fell in love with Prescott through rehab. They started their new chapters here. Love the happy new beginning too! Thanks for watching
I have a 4X4 20 year truck and I pay 38 dollars for registration, 3100 for property taxes on 3300 sq house . So glad we bought our Timeout 30 years ago
Your last point on "Patriotic" was very coded and under estimated the true situation. People fly US flags here, but other flags as well. Maybe you should have used "Conservative" with today's definition of that word. And there are some, albeit a minority, that do force their political opinions on others. I see it on bumper stickers everyday on SR 69. I guess you are trying to avoid politics, which I understand. The political climate here is definitely something one needs to know before they consider moving here. Another need to know is the Open Carry law in the state. Are you comfortable shopping at WalMart and having a stranger next to you in line with a .45 cal pistol on his/her hip? This can be a bit unnerving to some people moving here from other parts of the country where it is not allowed. Just need to know to expect this. A lack of medical care and doctors in the area is also a concern. Hopefully it improves.
Thanks for pointing this out. I have lived in areas like that before and do not think that flying a flag makes you particularly patriotic. I think caring for others in your community does. And I have found a lot of those people to be very narrow minded and not always very accepting of others.
I lived there 3 years & had to move back to Tucson because lack of Drs, primarily specialists. I loved Prescott except for the items you mentioned. I'd even go beyond "conservative" & say a group of MAGA. Paul Gosar is from there, if that's a big enough clue!!
can you do a video that provided info on the ABB vacation rental situation? and are the trails we see on topography maps ATV trails, fire trails hiking trails? We are looking for no vacation rentals and no motorized vehicle trails immediately adjacent to home. They are fun but not great to live next to.
I can add to that my moms and dad's old house I still have in prescott valley it's just over 2000 sq ft it's worth 500000or it could be a little higher. Taxes where just over 2000 last year taxes I'm still waiting on this years
One thing I didn't know before moving to the area 12 years ago was the number of rehabs and sober living facilities in the area. Now as a woman dating in my 30s, it is hard to find someone without some sort of addiction 😔
I live in an area of the country where there are not many LGBT people, and honestly, nobody seems to care. I think the only time anyone would really have a problem is if people come in and try to change the community. Otherwise it's live and let live.
Lots of very" conservative" people with guns in this area. Not particularly friendly for Queer folk. I don't think you are in any damger, but not alot going on for alternative life views
@@laurenyoungs the older the vehicle the less it is. My relative has a 2006 Toyota Highlander and she only pays like $55 a year! So it’s mainly the newer cars that’ll cost ya.
For some perspective, the AZ DOT website states how they make their calculation, and cites an example of a new $30,000 vehicle having a fee of about $500 for its first year. Subsequent years will have decreasing fees due to depreciation.
@@livinginprescott Lower property tax makes up for auto registration fee. Thanks for the info. Overall Prescott offers good value. Besides it is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places in USA.
If you vote blue you might consider skipping this area and I am a strong RED voter. We were in Sedona last year and this couple from LA was going to look at a house there. My wife and I just looked at each other and smiled
Prescott native here, former Sedona resident. Prescott and Yavapai County are very 'red' but Sedona is much less so. There is a strong and active progressive community as well, much of it centered around Prescott Indivisible. I'd compare Prescott to living in Texas or some parts of the deep south, perhaps a bit 'over the top' conservative but not entirely so.
Here is the actual voting data from the 2020 election: the 3 Sedona voting precincts were +13, +16 and +23 in favor of Biden, and most precincts in the Verde Valley voted for Biden. The 5 voting precincts comprising Prescott were +6.6, +9.5, +14, +24 and +34 favoring Trump. Source: from raw voting results by precinct, "An Extremely Detailed Map of the 2020 Election" published by the New York Times. Obviously, scaring off prospective new residents of any political persuasion is a bad thing, Big Rigger.
Other than the last point (Patriotic), this video turned me off to Prescott. As Real Estate agents (though you were stating facts), you weren't making it appealing to move there.
Thanks for the honest feedback. We were trying to shine a light on common things we see as potential concerns for people moving here. We like to be transparent and open about our community. It isnt for everyone. But those of us who live here love it. Thanks again.
Don't move to Prescott... too many people here already that call it PreSCOTT. 🙄 Especially if you're going to bring the mentality that caused the issues you are running from in your state. *coughcalifornianscough*

Are there any Tiny Home Communities in the area?
Unfortunately none that we are aware of.
No. Many retirees, developments,condos.
What are rentals going for 3 bedroom homes?
@@livinginprescott wow! 2000 gets me a 1bdrm apartment in the hood in SoCal
Moved to Prescott from LA, I drive a 2019 Lexus and only paid 400 for my registration. And if I remember correctly I paid 600 in LA
If you live here you need Verizon
The hardest part of moving to Prescott was losing the big town big city amenities.
Thanks! Good job!
Thanks!
"Bad traffic" is very subjective. Stopped traffic for miles on the highway, or steady 45 mph?
The car shows are awesome, doesn't matter what you own, import, domestic, or classic. We love them here. I'd like to see more luxury brands such as Audi, Lexus or Mercedes Benz open dealers in Yavapai county. The area lacks a lot of amenities for the higher end clientele.
My teenage son is planning on attending Embry Riddle in Prescott in Fall of 2024. He is a huge car enthusiast and into both classic cars and drifting cars...I hope he can find other like minded young people in the area!
There’s a Mercedes in flagstaff and a few smaller shops for German cars here
About the registration, I currently live in Tucson, when you register don't you register with the state? Can't I just drive down to the Valley and updates registration there? Sorry if this is a dumb question, never really thought too much about registration before, just did it.
Oh okay cool! Thank you!!
How much is 2 bedroom 2 bathroom house?
Depends on area of town, if it’s newer or older ,site built or manufactured. There are homes in the 200s on up.
Homeowners insurance is higher than we pay in Minnesota, and the deductible is 10x higher.
Homeowners insurance premiums have been going up like crazy it should be criminal how bad they are getting but that’s nationwide too
Interesting. In Los Angeles Country a $66K 2022 car's first registration costs $7022.00.
Great Info! Thank you!!!
Not a good place to be if you have allergies, incredibly bad this year.
Very good video. Very informative. I live in San Francisco and would love to have a $2K annual tax bill.
Then move to AZ, just don't vote for the same types of policies that caused the issue in the first place.
I can add to that my moms and dad's old house I still have in prescott valley it's just over 2000 sq ft it's worth 500000or it could be a little higher. Taxes where just over 2000 last year taxes I'm still waiting on this years
me being half asleep.... my eyes nearly popped when you said Prescott's got a lot of HOAS... till i focused. Sigh!
It’s a love hate relationship with HOAs isn’t it? I’m personally not a fan but the entire state of Arizona is heavy in HOA arena. Thanks for watching
One thing I didn't know before moving to the area 12 years ago was the number of rehabs and sober living facilities in the area. Now as a woman dating in my 30s, it is hard to find someone without some sort of addiction 😔
Join a church! Great place to meet people. Thanks for watching!
Dating in your 30s is the problem

What is the perspective on LGBT in Prescott?
I’ve not seen an active LGBTQ+ community. I think it would be a harsh environment for them, sadly.
HOA's are a bane on existence.Kind of a paradox in conservative state.
I think you are off on the taxes. We pay almost $5,000 per year for our modest house on 3 acres
You may want to request a review or appeal the assessed value. That is extremely high for our area in my opinion
Why is the car registration so expensive? That's more than California.
Not sure but its based on the year and Msrp of the vehicle
It's a lot more than California@@livinginprescott
@@laurenyoungs the older the vehicle the less it is. My relative has a 2006 Toyota Highlander and she only pays like $55 a year! So it’s mainly the newer cars that’ll cost ya.
For some perspective, the AZ DOT website states how they make their calculation, and cites an example of a new $30,000 vehicle having a fee of about $500 for its first year. Subsequent years will have decreasing fees due to depreciation.
Very expensive to live here. 2000.00 for a one bedroom
Yes the cost has definitely gone up. Sad part is it has been happening across the country. Affordable housing is so hard to find. Thanks for watching
Think of lack of water.Think of all the tourist. No thanks.
Tell the about the Chinese company that will destroy Prescott AZ,,
Really? What's that about? Don't like the sound of that.
Voted red my whole life, but lived in a blue state for work. Made fun of because I like guns 🔫 . Can't wait to visit.
1000 dollar for car reg? wowzer!
@@livinginprescott Lower property tax makes up for auto registration fee. Thanks for the info. Overall Prescott offers good value. Besides it is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places in USA.
My real estate taxes for $300k townhome are 7k but car registration is $45.00
If you vote blue you might consider skipping this area and I am a strong RED voter.

Step 1, don't move to Prescott.
Step 2: move to Prescott 👍👍
Sounds wonderful. We just need to remain employed for a few more years, so that would be our main concern.
Been there done that. Prescet sucks.
Don't move to Prescott...
too many people here already that call it PreSCOTT. 🙄
Especially if you're going to bring the mentality that caused the issues you are running from in your state. *coughcalifornianscough*
You are VERY much incorrect about there being one way in, and one way out……. What about skull Valley-Yarnell-Wickenburg to Phoenix route??????? Apparently you haven’t been that way, or you, wouldn’t be saying/telling people there’s only ONE way……. YOU obviously haven’t gone that way down to the valley. Just might want to reconsider;) before you say dumb shit like that😘
We have been that way several times. That being said it does not take you directly to Phoenix it takes you to Wickenburg. It’s very narrow and switch back so not a main route. Thanks for the feedback. Have a nice day
