Hello and welcome to Cambridge Pinstriping and Airbrushing and...

Having fun with painting and custom builds, mostly motorcycles but you can find here anything else that is or can be turned into a good time!
I love the smell of new tools in the morning!
You know it!
I have the Hyundai 8 litre version for running my airbrushes. Wonderfully quiet.
I have the exact same compressor and I've been very impressed with it for the last 8 months.
I actually bought my dad it's smaller brother for his garage and he loves it, especially the low noise.
Great to hear! I am quite happy with it so far.
Good information right in time. Soon I´ll need a new low noise compressor too. I´ll wait for your video about using it for spray painting.
Sounds good! BUt so far so good. Very happy with that purchase.
Not adequate for spraying. Struggling with a polishing tool.
Great review and it helped me get "over the line" with one 50L Hyundai "silent" being ordered today. Obviously, you know what is needed to do a good paint job and the Hyundai is just one of the tools to do a great job - perfect. There are many specs to catch you out in the "Air game (of lies)" and bigger isn't better! The USP is the silent (quiet thing) and it mostly does it well. In your garage space, there are no hiding places, so the sound seems louder than it probably is e.g. echoes etc. In the specs, manufacturers don't always say how things are. I downloaded the manual and it gives the displacement liters and the CFM. If you do the maths, they take the displacement and convert it directly to CFM. That's OK, but the really useful number is the FAD. Separately, in the manual in section 7: "Be aware that the airflow figure stated on tools and accessories refers to ‘free air delivery’ and not the piston displacement of the compressor". On almost all compressors the FAD is 2/3 * CFM e.g. 11 * 2/3 = 7.33 - I noticed that most manufacturers won't state the FAD because it's a smaller number. Those that do will often "simplify" things and the "result "cannot be relied upon. For a tool, the FAD number is what a tool needs, and so matching CFM to the tool, will fall short of what is really needed? I noticed that a FAD that is 7/8 of CFM cannot be relied upon -(errors creep into specs) so maybe Hyundai "got it right" by not trying to list this number. With a tool, the average FAD is just that, so some tools will need 4x this to work successfully e.g. a sandblaster is a very demanding tool but a nail gun isn't. If you were going to do a follow-up video, it would be really interesting to know what tools you want to use it with vs how it works with those tools e.g. does it silently work just fine or struggle? One thing I also noticed by manufacturers is their use of HP. They list a power input and then HP and it sometimes defies physics e.g. 1.5Kw is not 2.25 HP (1 HP is 750W of output, so not input, nor perpetual motion!). All these silent machines "appear" to be the same, but look closely and there are some differences e.g. the case style, the RPM, and the input power. Really important is the power in kW as this directly translates to the FAD number e.g. 1kW machine cannot provide greater throughput than a 1.5kW or 2kW machine - that's physics, so take other specs with a pinch of salt. The Hyundai looks to be one of the best, so thanks very much for the "intro". Simon
Very technical and useful data too. Thank you for taking the time to explain the sorcery of air info :)
50L tank, 0-100psi in 2 mins 27 secs = 4.9cfm
love the no nonsense box opening and first impressions, not this company shill BS, free product for a biased praise of something. Well done
Thanks man. I do what I do, and I am who I am. Nothing more nothing less :)
@@MackieBass is how it should be, so sick of adverts spewing BS, and 'influencers' christ i hate that term being paid to say something is great when its obviously shite.
Just came across your channel looking for a new compressor, turns out you did the flame job on my old man's cbr 1000 streetfighter about 4 years ago, awesome job still looks great now.had a look at some of your other videos very cool keep it up dude 👍
Yes! It was early days..was just getting started with that airbrush:) hope you guys keeping well.?
Mackie - brilliant no nonsense review. Would you still give it a thumbs up now you’ve had it a while?. I’m thinking for motorbike tyres for my collection, and blowing water off after a wash. May invest in some air tools too for the workshop. Pissed off with small Tyre inflators shaking themselves to bits at 95 quid a pop (Michelin), so thinking to do like you and get one of these as an all rounder. Cheers mate 👍
Hi, how’s this holding up ? Any issues ?
Great review, do you find the on off button is stiff ? I’ve just received one brand new and the on off needs a slight twist to the left to pop up and quite a bit of force , wondering if it’s faulty,
Cheers.
Mate Rtfm what you should show the installation of the wheels
Really helpful to see your review video on these Hyundai compressors, thank you! I have a question; I want to paint my XV1100 tank with a large metal flake flame job but I live in a small apartment, so it has to be done in my spare room, and so the machine has to be as quiet and as small as possible! Because of this I've been looking at the smaller brother to yours, the 25L Hyundai HY7524, but the CFM only seems to be 5.2...
-Will 5.2 CFM supply enough coverage for flaking/clear coating/candying a motorcycle tank? Any help would be really appreciated as I don't have the space for a large machine. Thanks in advance! \m/
It depends what guns you are using. I'd say for one off job the 25L will do the job - you will just need to wait inbetween it filling up. Spray one part at the time and you should be ok. But if you are planning to do more than that...you will probably need something bigger.
@@MackieBass That's awesome advice brother, just the boost I needed, thank you!
Hello, thank you for your video. Please, could you tell me the noise made close to compressor, at 0 meters from it? The Lwa in Db's given by Sonometer app, for example
I've got a compressor comparison video on my channel. check it out
looks good, quiet without a doubt, probably come direct from the factory in Korea hence the wait for it, have fun with it n have another beer lol
Ok, ...you convinced me!
Very cool compressor indeed.
It seems a decent compressor. I was looking at it also but i wanted as much cfm as possible so i went for the loudest :D option. We'll be waiting for the review
Fair enough! So far so good man. I need to use it a little more, but it hasn't missed a beat yet.
You're lying about the sponsorship. You're definitely sponsored by Gilette :-)
Only joking ;-)
Edit. Would have ben good to film the compressor working so we could get an idea of the noise too.
I did that. You can hear it when I power it up. :)
As a complete newbie, probably a bit of a "daft" question - but how does equipment connect? Airbrushes have a 1/4" female connector and others a 1/4" Euro quick male connector. Is it a bit like mains plugs and sockets where the plug connects to the wall and exposes a socket, or does anything go?
You can get either EURO or UK stye connectors. And these are universal among each other. Stick with one, don't matter which one, they are equally good. They won't cross fit, so stick with one style. Then you've got male and female accordingly. Hope that helps.
Very useful Mackie. I keep looking at compressors, mainly for air tools, and it’s so difficult just to buy on specs!
So true! But this littl ebad boy seems good so far.
Thanks for the vid Mackie.
I’m in the market for a compressor )first one) to spray guitars with nitro (I used cans before). Do you think the Hyundai would be up for the job? Do you use lvlp guns for spraying guitars also?
It will most definatelly work well for quitars. Small enough parts, it will be more than enough for the job!
Finally, someone who has reviewed this compressor! Top man. What's the vibration like? My current one vibrates through the floor too much.
Hyundai sell a blue 50 litre compressor that’s cheaper and more powerful. Did you consider it?
It's not as quiet tho, is it?
@@MackieBass no, it’s an oiled 98db industrial unit. I think it may also need 16 or 32 amps.
nice purchase congrats!
Thank you! Cheers!
What spray guns are you using? Looking to purchase this compressor but the free air delivery looks low at 6. Will be running mini guns and airbrushes, top channel btw
LVLP mainly, got HVLP and that work fien also on the smaller items. Airbrushes should work absoluely fine here
I have just bought a 24L compressir from Hyundai.
But why my box seems not perfect as you? I don't have any edge cover and absolutely open before.
Should I return it?
24L is a different model than 50L. When it comes to box and condition..I cannot advise. Check with the supplier.
Always looking at these, I've got a direct drive 100 ltr that is really noisy, I use devilbiss GTI spray guns and would love to know if this would work with them. Noise is an issue when your in a shed/garage. It would be great if you do a review when you spray with it. Cheers.
I will do once I have some more hours under the belt using it!
Just looking at buying one, my 30 year belt drive compressor fuc#ed now
Hi, Has it been working yet? Has it any mistake? Thanks your answer.
Working so far. Not much to complain. Will make another video soon.
At 2.5 min to fill 50 litres that’s only 20l per min not 300 as in the specifications, am I missing something ?
I think they refer to compressed air capacity. As in, you can probably fir 600L of air if you compress it into 50L. But...I'm only guessing. :/
6:56 Your Welcome
If more air is needed, hook up the old one to the new one for more capacity.
I was thinking that...I may aswell give it a go.
Just got the 24 litre one for airbrushing. Dam it’s quiet!
I have the Hyundai 8 litre for airbrushing. Quieter than those crappy 'airbrush compressors'.
@Geo have you been using the 24L compressor to do the spray painting??
@@chris01479 Airbrushing yes. It’s working really well
@@geo2472 Thanks for letting me to know. I'm going buy it soon when I'm saving up my money. Can I ask do you use hvlp or lvlp spray gun??
I am going to spray on the whole bonnet, top of the roof, 3 tyres and rear bumper so I hope it will be enough. I don't mind to wait a few mins to refill it so I can get the job done once at a time.
@@chris01479 just with air brush and as an airline for tyres and cleaning. It’s a decent compressor though. Good luck with yours 👍
Review in 2 years time,i just put mine in the skip motors are cheap chinese winding not copper nearly went on fire.
ok, sorry to hear this. Mine is still going strong. Well, I am not using it every day, but can't complain so far.
Looks nice. Is the Bambi just for air brushing?
I do use it for airbrushing only. Love it.
This will only give approx. 5 cfm at the gun, don’t be fooled by the 11 cfm displacement.
Love your videos man! Super helpful and inspiring. Keep it up! Im not sure why but I can’t seem to find a small compressor with high cfm like this in the states! Currently using a 20 gallon which gives me 4 maybe 5 cfm, seems like I have to get a 60 gal to get into the 11-14 cfm range!
I'm sure someone commented with a US branded version of this unit. California air tools, or something like that?
@@MackieBass looks like they have one similar actually thank you so much man!
The best video for oil free silent compressor !!! I m thinking to buy one like this for moto painting parts. Is the capacity enough for hvlp guns? I'm asking from what you have seen by using it.
Depending what air ratio the gun needs. I'm using LVLP guns and they are just right. If I could get a bigger tank I would, but this is perfect for my littl garage. Hope that helps buddy
@@MackieBass LVLP guns are better choice for small compressors, but i think that it could run hvlp gun for small fiberglass parts that i create. The noice level is very important, not for me but for my neighbours.(ha ha) Many thanks for your time.
HVLP will run of a smaller gun also, yes. Smaller parts and smaller jobs should be ok. I can get same results with modern LVLPs as with the HVLPs. There is less overspray and less material wastage with LVLPs, so for smaller jobs these are no brainer for me.
What’s it like with an air blow gun? How long does it blow before it starts recharging? My own little compressor is useless for blow gun use.
It works well enough for what I need it for.
@@MackieBass I’ve ordered the smaller 24 litre version for air gun cleaning.
It's Hyundai it'll be just fine ..
I've had 3 Hyundai and 2 Kia cars (same people) they've all been brilliant ..My current i30 I've had 5 years (its 12 years old now) )and it's the most reliable vehicle I've ever come across ..and I get to fix hundreds of vehicles..👍🏻☮❤
Good to hear. Yeah, I thought to go for a branded one, the brand that has been around for a while and we can trust. SO far so good
The new Stanley 2.75hp with 50lt tank and 145psi and 220lpm is a monster
Do you have a link please
Supercheap Auto in Australia has them or any Stanley Stockist
@@petershute3580 I'm in the UK, can't find it anywhere.
Try Amazon uk or eBay
Sir,
Is it enough for wall spray painting job?
Never painted walls, but I don't think so. Small compressor....large surface? you do the math.
Hey great review - how much pressure did the tank lose overnight??
Nothing
Not 1bar
Nil.
Wow that’s great - I’m just about replace my current compressor which is bloody noisy and loses pressure almost completely in a few hours
Did you get it to replace your Bambi compressor?
No, it's an addition for bigger guns!
Hi MackieBass, so how would you rate the performance since March? are you still pleased with your purchase? Great informative video!
Yes, I'm happy with it. I'll do a litle video when I find some time :)
@@MackieBass Brilliant and thanks for the update.
@@MackieBass I meant to ask about the Air Displacement (11CFM) what gun do you use and is there plenty of air. Are you using HVLP or LVLP? Thanks again.
9:52 widze , ze masz bambini.. masz jakiś film o nim? 5 stow trochę drogo za pseudo Włocha.. który z tych dwóch możesz polecić? Dzieki
Mam male video o 3 kmpresorach. poszukaj na moim channel. Zalezy do czego potrzebujesz?
Does it get hot after a few cycles just like regular compressors?
Yes, but not excesively. I don't usually use it longer than 45 mins at the time (with breakes) no issues so far.
The motors can get exceptionally hot if it's refilling constantly. The heat will trip the thermal cut out meaning quite a wait before it recharges.
Made in China with Hyundai support.
IK WOON IN DE FHILIPIJNEN NIEMAND ZEND DE COMPERSOR TOT HIER WAAR OM ?
Ik ken het niet kerel. Vraag het aan de fabrikanten en niet aan mij :)
There are no spare parts for this compressor ...
Great Video 👏👌🏻👍
Thank you 👍
Looks good bro. From what I know of Hyundai, they're one of the biggest industrial manufacturers in the world. Reckon that thing should outlast you 😉. Take care bro. Stay safe.
Totally agree, and I hope it won't give me any issues.
How many decibels
there's another video that tell you all about it - on my channel.
Any update on it?
Will film it soon.
@@MackieBass still worth getting?
Looks nice and well built....Quiet too...
Very happy so far!
Nice. I have the Hush 150 and found it's performed quite well. Review on my channel.
-Ken
Put the box that it came over the top of it then stick some 4" king span round it make it even quieter
That will restrict the airflow... and make it overheat - not a great idea.
See my video. The wheels can’t be fitted.
I just fitted them.
Looks like a rebadged California Air Tools compressor. (Look on Amazon)
Similar, but ot quite the same. What's the CFM rating for that one, as I cannot find it? I found lot sof similar design with much lower CFM.
Whats a wun banned man? 🤣🤣🤣
Huh? Pardon? Speak up a bit. 😀
Cheap components, overpriced and is constantly working. Struggling with brad guns, 3" polishing tool. Save your money, buy a cheaper one.
It ain't great agreed, but it ain't bad either. It was obvious it won't support power tools, but it does ok with LVLPs, which is what I bought it for.
