Your comment on the PP 5196 and Lange 1815 Up Down really got my attention. When I was shopping for a dress watch several years ago, I first chose the 5196 and my AD allowed me to wear it for a trial weekend before I committed. Over the weekend I became disillusioned by the small size of the movement. I brought it back the following Monday and walked out of my AD’s shop with a new Richard Lange on my wrist. Today I own the 1815 Up Down in white gold.
Ha, I had the exact same thought process about the 5196, and I ended up getting the 1815 Up Down instead. I do love the look of the 5196, but knowing that movement is in there would ruin it for me. The 3796 is too small for my taste (it also uses the 215 movement but in an appropriately sized case), but I hope to one day get a 5096. The 5096 was only made for a few years in the late 90s, but it’s basically a 34mm 3796 in yellow gold within display back. It’s still a small watch, but I really think it’s perfect.
Hello there! Still looking to see the Aqua Terra Worldtimer in person? Now could be your chance. Just saw it in two different ADs (in Finland), never seen it before.
It’s a tough one to categorize. I haven’t had it in my hands but I’ve often seen it in the shop window. I think it’s not that popular because the very modern execution lacks the traditional appeal of a 5270. Maintenance is likely horrendous. Value and make, frankly, I’d get a Lange over the Patek any day. But on the plus side, the mix of a world time and a chronograph brings something unique so it’s down to how you feel about the looks. Let’s just say that I’d get it if I had already a fine Patek collection and wanted a sporty travel watch. I’ll ask my colleague who collects high-end Pateks how he feels about it. He might have owned it actually, lucky devil.

Loved the discussion of the 1815 updown.
I love these conversations between you two! Both of you are very knowledgable and well spoken. Can you guys restart this series?
Good video guys. I’ve learned a lot.👍🏼
I love Lange. I have some regrets about selling the Lange pocket watch I inherited, but oh well.
Well done ! Nice video mate

Like all of these.
Would you go for the 1815 up and down or for the saxonia monophase? Thanks

Thanks, hopefully I’ll find it in HK soon... when I can walk again. Don’t skateboard at 44 if you’re clumsy like me...
My friend who works at San Francisco international airport said the Omega Boutique in there had one but was gone by the end of the day.
What are your thoughts on Patek 5930g? Maintenance, value, concept and make?

They sell well below retail. And as I understand, When daylight savings kicks in all world time watches are useless. But For me it is quite beautiful
What’s the strap on the 1815? Looks pretty cool with rubber underneath!
Most likely a Camille Fournet
Would you go for 5296g or 1815 up down?
1815 up / down any day of the week. The 5296 and 5196 were very much in the equation, but I felt I was getting so much more with the Lange.
