    Oh my gosh, talk about great timing! I was tossing the ball for Angel and as she was running she suddenly yelped. I couldn't see an environmental cause ( hole, sharp rock etc) but she was clearly in pain, repeatedly repositioning herself. I palpated and felt a lump the size of my palm above her right hip. Started doing fascia release, but it seemed to distress her, so watched this video and realized I was pressing way too hard. Took a lighter approach and saw an immediate change! Thinking I should avoid fetch as Angel loses her dang mind with excitement becomes oblivious to anything but her ball. Thank you for this step by step video, being able to help ease my dog's pain is a huge blessing! Daisy is awesome and very clearly loved and respected! You've become my Guru! Blessings!

    Hey Gary, great tutorial (plus intro video) and just the information I was looking for. Tamu and I thank you aaand please pass on our gratitude to Disagreeable Daisy for the laughs generated from her entertaining chatter. You can't beat the loving respectful bond that you have to earn from a dog with a mind of its own. This video was a perfect example of that but also, very importantly, how to keep that behaviour healthy too - no scolding or reacting to her protestations ...aaand that is exactly how you have that level of respect and trust from your pup. Brilliant Gary, I look forward to exploring more of your RUclips contributions. Thank you!

      Hi Cheryl, I'm thrilled my videos helped you to help Tamu. Thanks for letting me know. I'll pass it on to now 14 year old Daisy. She's still grumpy when you try and move her, but other than that she's a pretty happy gal. Glad you laughed along with us! : )

    Thanks for making these videos! My 2 1/2 yr old pup has hip dysplasia and it has really been bothering her lately. Recently I noticed the area around her hips were very swollen, and she was definitely feeling it. I would feel those spots and they would feel like balls, just very swollen and hard feeling. I massaged her using your techniques and by the end of the massage, the swelling had gone down tremendously. She instantly felt better and was acting so happy, my poor puppy. I will definitely keep doing this for her.

    Good video, i had to comment and say that Daisy sure wanted everyone to know who's the boss in the house, lol. I can assure anyone who thinks that Daisy didn't like it, that she is putting up a front... and it works for her every time, lol, i have seen many youtube videos of dogs that were in pain and really didn't enjoy the way their joints were yanked and pulled and too much pressure was put on their painful muscles.... not Princess Daisy... you are a good dad.

    thank you and Daysi for making these videos! ♡ I just found out my 5year pup has disk problems, I believe like herniated disk, in he's lower spine, and is also starting to show signs of hip dysplasia, so this would be great to try on my pup to relieve some pain and stress from he's back. Which I also plan on doing for my other dog as well since they are both the same age and have possibility of developing the same diseases. Once again thank you very much.

    I adopted a senior a year ago. She's had hip issues since before I got her, but just in the past month it's gotten to where she can't stand very long. I'm really hoping to just make her comfortable. Lucy is a skinny little dog, and her hip muscles have started to atrophy. Do you have any tips or suggestions for massaging atrophied hips?
    And thanks for the video, and I love Daisy's sass.

    • @garycrowley1
      @garycrowley1  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Ann, I do think Lucy could benefit from you working on her. If her hip joints have really deteriorated then you'll have to work on her daily, but you can still give her relief from pain. While there may not be a lot of tissue to work with just work between the bones as much as you can. The good news is that you'll be able to get at the tendons and ligaments more easily...the bad news is that with less muscle mass it will be harder to give more permanent relief. Hope that helps. Sassy Daisy sends her regards.
      Best,
      Gary C.

      Of course I believe that young puppies may have these kinds of dietary supplements too. My daughter's half a year old dog has had a few issues with his joints. The veterinarian suggested us glucosamine and I came across a high quality one at amzn.to/1qkTL6t. Her puppy is progressing excellent now and I suppose you can give glucosamine to your puppy too. Good luck.

    We took Rex our 13 year old min schnauzer to the Dr today because he wouldn't get up and has trouble walking and standing. The Doc believes Rex has a pinched nerve and not hip dysplacia. If in fact he does have a pinched nerve, will massaging help or is there another approach I should consider? Thank you for posting the video.

    • @garycrowley1
      @garycrowley1  9 лет назад

      Michael Carlson Hi Michael, Yes, my techniques should help. Releasing the tight tissue will help create more space and freedom and hopefully keep the nerve from being yanked on. Go for it.All the best,

    my 1 year old pitty was diagnosed with lyme disease. the one month she didn't have her flea/tick treatment she must have gotten bit. shes on meds for it but still she is very stiff.she limps and her back legs are so lame. all her weight is carried by her front legs and you can see a significant amount of muscle loss in her hind legs and butt. her booty is so tiny and stiff it really makes me feel sad. she has trouble sitting/standing and when she sits it's not on her butt. it's more like shes sitting on her side because it hurts. shes so young! on top of all this she tore her acl. we're trying to avoid surgery but we shall see. im going to try this massage.however, do you have any other tips? i was thinking of trying a warm jacuzzi bath?

    My girl got attacked by neighbor dog about two weeks ago and is slowly going down hill. She eats and drinks but finds movement difficult. Pain is in her neck. Your video helps but i have many questions still

    • @garycrowley1
      @garycrowley1  10 лет назад

      Hello,
      Sorry to hear about the attack. The trauma from an attack is a bit different than the joint issues from old age or exercise that most people are using the techniques for. It may take a bit longer with the swelling and possible tissue damage you can't see. I'm glad it's helped a bit and I do wish you the very best. I'd keep working on your dog at the level she can handle and hopefully things will continue to improve.
      All the best,
      Gary Crowley

    My dog yelps when I start doing this. Should i continue anyways?

    • @garycrowley1
      @garycrowley1  8 лет назад +1

      If you think you may be doing it too hard or too deep then ease off a bit and do it at the level they can relax into. And if you can't do that, then there may be something more serious like a tear or a break, so a trip to the vet might be in order. That said, I do know some dogs (my friends dog Kobe for one) who is quite the drama king and will squeal and yelp at the slightest hint of anyone doing anything at all to him. When my friends take Kobe to the vet, you can hear him screaming from the waiting room, and the vet will stick his head out the door and say, "Just so you know, we have not even touched him yet." So you'll have to take into account the level of your dog's drama, but always err on the side of caution by doing less.
      Hope that helps.
      Best,
      Gary C.

    I am not agree with the video. The dog shows a lot of "signs of calm" that means what the dog is not conformtable with the massage. The most important thing with dogs is put treatment without pain, why? because if we give pain, they dont trust in us. Other thing is...the dogs bit... be careful my friend.
    Sorry but I am not agree with the video, because give masage to animals I think is not too easy, because you need to know their rules and Gary, you dont "read" the signs in this video.

      Okay I didn’t understand a word you said. Clearly you don’t speak good English. I really don’t like seeing these comments from people who pretend like they’re saints. A dog in no means should be able to growl like that. If my dog ever did that, I would pop her once in the butt and she’d never do it again. My dogs obey me and at the same time, love me. I do NOT beat my dogs- but sitting there and laughing and thinking your dog can’t do any damage against you, is wrong. An animal like this one in this video is not an animal you can trust.

    • @ivyrose779

      ArtsyGamer It seems pretty obvious that English is not the person’s first language. However, that has nothing to do with the validity of their opinion.
