Jamaica has so much potential, if only we could look within ourselves , value ourselves and what we have and hence work hard to curb crime, violence and indiscipline! We would be the economic, tourist, transshipment hub and one of the best places to live in the world! We do not know what we have! We have what we need to be great!
As a child I remember downtown very well, my mum worked at British American Offices in Harbour Street.. We used to shop in King Street at Woolworth Issa and Nathan Stores. Good memories for the rest of my life. I am 73 years old and living in London Happy to be a Jamaican. Thank you for these awesome videos, love it, love it.
I used to work on the Norwegian banana boats running between London and Jamaica for the Jamaica Banana Producers Steamship Co between 1966 and 1967, and 1970 and 1971. Can't recognise any places when watching this video. During my first period we mostly discharged general cargo at the Hanover Street Pier, next to Myrtle Bank Hotel, before loading bananas for London in one or several of the costal ports(Port Antonio, Montego Bay, Oracabessa or others). During my last period we mostly discharged the general cargo at New Port West Nice memories with thinking back on lazy Sundays enjoying a few Red Stripe by the pool side at Myrtle Bank Hotel maybe giving the best memories.
@Ingvald Tangen Maybe you will recognize Port Royal Street here ruclips.net/video/fMhpp8roggg/видео.html This is the route on google maps: goo.gl/maps/xNSyE1hMW7cWMSYFA and according to map the Myrtle Bank Hotel site is to the right after passing Gold Street. Thanks for the video. It was interesting to get a good look at Kingston and it to see the contrasts of the wealthier upper class areas and the poorer lower class areas.
I got a little nostalgic when I saw the old Woolworth's building. This was the store we shopped for back-to-school and Christmas supplies. At KPC we attended CYO then went to Zaraks for a dance party. Those were the days 😁🤗
Do you remember Woolworth's in the 1970s (if you're of a certain age)? The ice cream trucks operated by some white guys used to park especially in front of there.
Thank you for youride, I lived in Kingston year and half.Love Jamaican people, nature ,food everything! Lived close Canada embassy suites... love bottom of my heart always have Jamaica in my heart and soul.
I worked with Hope Jamaica as volunteer loved everything in that beautiful country/ Isla .never felt so much tears my last day in you grate country.always love you Maria
Loving these driving videos! I have to learn to drive when I move to JA this year and your videos are giving me some good pointers. Also, it's a great way for me to get to know the areas/street names. Thank-you!
King street still look GOOD especially at Barry street with K. MART use to be NATHAN an the other side was BARCLAYS BANK...that was in the 60s I am TALKING about...the trees open space where the Court is was my most pleasurable PLACE...OH JAMAICA I WISH those MEMORIES...COULD BE TODAY..
You are correct, however Barclays had branches on both sides of king street at the corner of Barry street. The newest branch was located at 77 King street where the KMart is presently located. I worked there.

On the coast and the uptown area very nice...👍🏾 but still waiting to see changes that is to come for the downtown areas. Some of those store and dilapidated buildings needs to be demolished and replaced with apartments, condos and business places. Thanks for sharing
Keep them coming I love the Manley meadows video the progress is tremendous if you return to that location can you go up to the nursing quarters. Haven’t been to Jamaica in so long it’s good to see videos of what to expect
Chavoy ...its much bigger than you see here, for he didn't get to go up Hope Rd towards Hope Garden, Utech, and UWI, IF HE WENT THE OTHER WAY, East HE WOULD BE ENTERING Constant spring RD. LONG STRETCH GOING NORTH UP TO LEAGANEA, IT CAN TAKE ALMOST AN HOUR GOING FROM SOUTH TO NORTH Traffic lights and all, it seems like the Rds have not been re-paved since I left 20 years ago though. I LIVED IN KINGSTON ALL MY LIFE. Love Ochie Mandeville and Mobay though.
Harbour St, back in the 60ts down here was like Chinatown , store with diamonds, gold, chains , chicken in windows, , and different color people sleeping on the street.
Yes it is....earthquake destroyed the city twice.....on the other hand it is not good to take building up in the air ....you must spread the city out for more development.
This video shows that no "jobs groth" can't be in Jamaica and can't, because first thing. No high rising buildings to show nothing going on. Out economy is so little big yet we have so many bright minds and ideas.... Look at land space in Jamaica???????
Beautiful scenery just to get rid of the bad apples and bring back the island to some peace, love and hospitality. Such a beautiful place but badmind and badness keep people in constant fear of visiting.
It should be noted that the ethnicity of Jamaica is partially British. English people visiting Jamaica would not be discriminated against. They would not be described as "ethnic minorities".
Kinston relatively big for the size Country, if they had more footage going up Hope Rd towards Hope Gardens there would be much more, going the other way 'east he would go up constant spring Rd, that's a relatively long stretch of City Rd.
