Thanks for the shout out. When I measured off the original. If I was working from the Double Trapezoid, I'd just have used the known dimensions off that.
I think when I was fiddling with the original shape I noticed that the "groove" may have been tapered too... We could have solved that with the awkward trap. Great exercise either way and thanks again for the math skills!

Kids can handle more math than we'd think. In kindergarten we were doing arithmetic and a little multiplication. I also remember how learning to draw with LOGO at age 9-10 we had to jump ahead and learn Trigonometry or there'd be no way to draw closed shapes like triangles.
@HLModTech amen. In high-school I flunked algebra twice. Out of desperation the counselor sent me to this new experimental class called computer programming (on Apple2e). I aced it never realizing I was mathing along the way. Just had to be applicable.

Another way is to just make the Double Trap a few mm narrower on one side, Duplicate and Rotate 90 degrees and group them.
