Thanks I have done tons of things without the ruler. Now when I 've seen how easy and handy it is I will start using it more. THANKS

THANK YOU. I was trying to make a 3d printed prototype of something before having it laser cut, and had no idea how to get things to line up. Very Helpful...especially since it was a short video, I didn't have to wade through a bunch of other stuff to find the info I wanted!

It's actually easier than you describe, if you use midpoint and zero your square. Then once your first hole is set (I tend to set in the +/+ quadrant) when you duplicate your hole it's simply a matter of changing signs. For example, based on your design, if you had zeroed your square in the X and Y using midpoint, the first hole would have had coordinates of ( 15, 15 ), then the first copy would have been ( 15, -15 ). Selecting both holes at this point gives a coordinate of ( 15, 0 ), duplicate that and change it to ( -15, 0) and your other two holes are set.

Jason thanks for sharing and yes based upon what you wrote there are is the possibility of a couple perturbations of this as you mention with the placement of a hole or set of holes. :-)

took me a couple of shots to get me head around it but it really is easy to use this way, i am always setting up squares of holes for 2020 2040 and so on and this is by far the easiest method to do a set of holes for a predetermined object like extrusion etc. thanks for showing me the way.

well, that certainly makes more sense than how I'VE been trying to use the ruler. I've been pulling it down AFTER I get started & then trying to figure out how to line things up with it. Thanks for a really helpful video

I've been pulling my hair for the last 3 hours trying to do measuring between holes for a project, I think using this method it might work. I may just increase the size of the holes to make things easier vs. 6.7 mm wide holes.

If you have multiple objects with multiple planes... how can you snap a ruler to the corner of an existing object? If you do that your trying to do it by eye and it always seems to come out wrong and then as you continue designing off existing pieces that error is magnified and added to with later rulers that are also off by a hair.

Sometimes the measurements displayed in TinkerCAD when the ruler option is selected can get in the way of what you are designing. Also sometimes it can be difficult to find and click "Dismiss ruler" option.

Very informative. When I enter 0/0 in the green locations, it moves my project down and to the left of the Workplane but leaves the ruler where I placed it! Perhaps something changed with the versions since the video was made. Regardless, this was a helpful video.
