I was just there July 23, 2022. It was amazing to see. Seeing the damage was quite interesting especially since you can still see the embedded shells in the brick walls.
They had over a year to fortify and prepare for a siege and did almost nothing and didn't even consider secondary echelons and dispersing the defenses.
Why didn't Olmstead have his men patch up the fort's massive holes (in its walls)? Surely, there was an abundance of large shattered stones & rubble, which could've been piled into the gaps, in the walls. Under cover of darkness, it might've been attempted.
