I believe the pontoon Lickity Split belongs to the the Cat that had the fatal crash in the 2018 Desert Storm. So it is amazing they made it out to the same venue.
Props are more efficient than jet, especially at speed with a surface propeller, less drag. Cats are more efficient and faster than V hulls because air travels though the middle and lifts the boat further out of the water for again, less drag. The secret to going fast in boats isn't power, its creating less drag by getting the most area of the boat out of the water as possible. For example an 18ft Hydrostream and 200hp will do over 100mph.
