  • Stairway to Heaven, (Led Zeppelin), words and music by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. YES... I KNOW IT'S NOT PERFECT! This "abbreviated version" is the basic structure of the song minus some verses and I only touch on the rhythm section of the lead. This is a whole lot o' song for just a ukulele, but I hope you like it, Phil.

    I could EASILY master this song in six to eight years.

      A song like this you learn 1 or 2 measures at a time repeating the notes as you hear them. if you have any finger picking skills you can knock it out in less then a month, but remember you have to play all the measures you've learned over and over until you get sick of hearing it. Good luck, Phil.

    Nice arrangement. When I was shopping for a Bari recently I instinctively had to try this having not played it on guitar for decades. Thought it would be ok because Ukulele, but alas, icy stares from the staff.

      i began playing several years back with a senior action baritone uke group. i only got so far as to be able to play some simple songs on it, and then my husband got cancer. i put it down and haven't picked it up since he died. he really enjoyed listening to my chicken scratchins though and i've dabbled with the thought of picking it up again, to re-learn what i'd lost and to recreate the fun i had trying. you've made me feel like starting again, thank you for that . . . . .

    • @9825604
      @9825604  7 лет назад +2

      Sorry to hear of your loss. Cancer is such a devastating event in so may lives and it can be brutal to the survivors of afflicted loved ones. I hope you continue playing if only, at least, to find a little pleasant diversion. Keep smiling and remember God loves you. Phil.

      people are mean to you for not making tabs but i think it is great that you uploaded the video at all, thank you for at the very least making my evening brighter with this lovely cover xx ps if you ever did get round to doing tabs for this that would be great, im just saying

      It's kinda sad people always ask for tabs nowadays (and can even be downright rude when you can't provide them) instead of just using their eyes and ears just like anyone learning to play their favourite songs before the internet came did... :/ Also, learning to play by ear and by watching other people play makes you a better musician, helps you "hear" the music better, develop your skills and also incorporate things you see other players do. Blindly following tabs does not. Not to mention that there's a lot of mistakes in plenty of tabs on the internet.

    • @f1948s
      @f1948s 7 лет назад

      Since he does not have time for that which is understandable if you need help there are a couple of ways you could go about this. Just find the guitar music online and purchase then work out the melody and use the notes found on guitar (not tab) and place them on the ukulele neck positions. Other than that you can buy a ukulele book that may have it already tabbed out for you or last but not least purchase the video surgeon program. I would recommend buying it when only on sale due to the high cost. Then you could use that on many videos all over the internet due to the technology it incorporates. Hope this helps.

      Not sure what "doing it as a hobby" does have to do with being lazy to learn actual musicmanship instead of relying on crutches. "Doing it as a hobby" should *never* become an excuse for taking the easy way out - if it does, perhaps one should consider taking a different hobby.
      And yeah, playing from tab sure is easier and less time consuming - if you never put an effort into learning to play by ear, that is. If you did, then not so much. Also, tabs *are* easier and less time consuming - for their recipient, but definitely not for their creator.

      Thanks for the reply Phil, just one more question. I'm trying to learn this cover but i cant get the fingerings right at the little riff at 2:13, any chance you could let me know what the fingering is for those 4 chords?

    • @9825604
      @9825604  7 лет назад +3

      The chord finder won't give me a names for these chords so I'll walk you through it... the 1st chord up the neck is like playing a D-Maj chord formation only at the 7th fret. For the next (3)chords place your index finger on the 1st string at the 5th fret, your ring finger on the 3rd string at the 7th fret, and your little finger on the 2nd string at the 7th fret. From there, just move that whole formation down the neck 2 frets then back up the neck 2 frets, leaving the 4th string open. Good Luck, Phil
