New Gold Dream, one of the best alternative rock/ new wave albums of 80s, the sound they delivered represents a loop in my mind, great sound of these versions
I grew up in the 80s and followed many bands but late to Simple Minds. Consider me a fan of their music now. Better late than never. I have the orignal New Gold Dream and ordered the Live from Paisley Abbey. Bravo.
This takes me back 38 years and buying the New Gold Dream LP album and watching Live Aid on the telly from JFK Stadium and Wembley Stadium in -85. The best live concerts in my lifetime.
Cherisse just RIPS and TEARS up those drums! She's one of the BEST things to happen to Simple Minds...PROWESS and PASSION sums up who she is as a drummer. Am I right? I think so.
I first listened to this song in 1983, I’m from paisley and great to see this song played in the abbey, brilliant song , thank you all of simple minds 👍
Agreed with the comments here. New Gold Dream for me is still a stunning album 40 years on. However like most bands the great period can only last for so long. 79-83 was the bands creative peak for me and was fortunate to see them live at this time. Good that they are still going strong as a performing group.
This song is my 2nd favourite Simple Minds songs, I don't mean to diss Jim Kerr because it is understandable at his age now but I do notice some of that spark in his voice is gone, but as I said it's understandable at 64yrs old. Oh also can I point out the drummer.... a black female....this made me so happy, YOU GO GIRL ❤❤❤ I'm sorry I don't know her name but she is so beautiful and talented 😍 I hope they keep her.
Siete tra i complessi che hanno segnato la colonna sonora della mia adolescenza e gioventù nonostante il tempo passa suscitate ancora grandi emozioni ❤
Always loved the songs that did not get the full attention commercially. This one is one of them. A brilliant rhythm and Charlie’s wonderful guitar 🎸 play!
i wrote a song many years ago called ' Angels Sings' about a family who sat and watched their child die due to illness and could do nothing, i think Jim would just bring this song to life. i wish. always been a huge fan of the band from the beginning, i have all their albums
Amazing live performance of one of my 80s top albums. Love Charlies’s guitar arrangement, Cherisse’s drumming, everyone at their best here. Good old Glasgow uni memories.
My friend, make it happen. At this stage of the game, they could unexpectedly stop touring tomorrow. I chose not to see them in Toronto many, many years ago.....and regretted it since. They don't play Canada very often. So, a few years ago I drove 16 hours to see them at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville (the mother church of country music) and I still smile when I think of that show. Holds about 2000 people, Jim's Dad was in the audience. His dad was a big country fan, and they thought why not book a show in Nashville and fly his Dad over to see his son perform in the Ryman. Just a cool moment, great sound, great concert.....and I questioned whether it was worth the trip?! Hell yeah....as I said before...just.make.it. happen!
Love this song, one of my all time fav's, love everything about it, the melody, the lyrics that I can make out, the bass line and the guita parts, the perfect rock/pop song!
The energy of Cherisse's drum keeps this song alive after 30+ years. Not surprising, she's is in every single framing. It could have been just another perfect but flat performance
This modern sound doesn't do this song justice. In my mind, all the magic lies within (apart from the magnificence of this song) the crisp loud drums, guitar and bass sound, which are muffled in this clip. I did enjoy it a lot though.
@@roberthamilton7554 Robert , I am an experienced drummer …..I know the difference…..if she was a man she’d have limited recognition…….She’s playing & copying what was invented by the great man…….she’s a novelty…
Outstanding !!. Goodness me brings back happy memories of a period full of fantastic sounds. Some surreal, unexpected but full of vigour. Full praise to all of the wonderful talent on display here. All skilled in their craft. Thank you.
It 's amazing how the instruments and Jim's voice sounds so similar at the original álbum. Increíble good! Saluts from mexican lands to the Highlands! 🇲🇽🏴
The greatest Bassline!!!
Hunter and the Hunted is my favorite
Seriously listen to too shy kajagoogoo . Nick Beggs bass line is incredible 👍
New Gold Dream, one of the best alternative rock/ new wave albums of 80s, the sound they delivered represents a loop in my mind, great sound of these versions
This album got me into Simple Minds. Been a massive fan ever since. I must play the album every few months, still a brilliant album now.
by far their best work
Me too 👍💪💜
got the same from 1982...never boring
I grew up in the 80s and followed many bands but late to Simple Minds. Consider me a fan of their music now. Better late than never. I have the orignal New Gold Dream and ordered the Live from Paisley Abbey. Bravo.
Driving after a sunset in a classic car with this blaring on the sounds = time travel achievement unlocked . It's that simple .
It's unbelievable the quality of Jim's voice and the tight of the band, top of world quality music, hall of fame right now!!!
@@andyking5431 you watch the correct youtube link? lol
Jim is getting on for 65 ffs@@andyking5431
I remember practising this bassline for ages and ages when I was learning. One of Forbes's most memorable.
Glittering Prize has Always been one of my favourite songs 🎵 absolutely 💯 brilliant 👏 👌 👍
Absolute tune...today's music has nothing on tracks like this. Can't wait to see them again in March 😁
Close to 50 years !!! Congrats guys (and girls now) !
1977 very close
This takes me back 38 years and buying the New Gold Dream LP album and watching Live Aid on the telly from JFK Stadium and Wembley Stadium in -85. The best live concerts in my lifetime.
me too, unforgettable, I was young then too! ha ha
So many great sounds within this song.. Charlie's tones...the bass...the drums, keyboards, Jims calming voice all come together perfectly
New Gold Dream est un des albums phare de la new wave des années 80.
Been listening to them from when my older brother brought home a bootleg fron one of the glasgow pubs that was in 1978!
Fantastic. And lady on drums looks and sounds brilliant.👏👏👏
This was my favourite album closely followed by Street Fighting Years
Ja se svaki put naježim kad ih čujem.
Moj band .
As far as I can recall, the very first Simple Minds song that I’ve ever heard. It however was Waterfront that got me hooked
Cherisse just RIPS and TEARS up those drums! She's one of the BEST things to happen to Simple Minds...PROWESS and PASSION sums up who she is as a drummer. Am I right? I think so.
She's certainly enjoying it
You definitely are 💯 percent spot on!!! She's great!
You are fantastic...after four decades the sound and voice are even more beautiful. Good job Simple Minds...👏🍷👋🇪🇦
Still one of the best bands around! And they nail it every time you hear them! Absolutely incredible sounds!
Awesome. One of your best songs. Nailed that awesome bass part too.
Concentrate of life at the drum!
love all the iterations of SM, and this band is NO disappointment ! Fantastic !
It's so interesting to see how SM change their sound every time. I wish they could sing forgotten songs from other albums.❤

The only band etched across my heart.. simple minds music walk's with me every day
Nailed this majestic album .. thank you!
Your longevity is truly a goodness needed to help me have a happiness interlude while listening to your songs
Simple minds ... .. carried the tune over from 70s solo tune songs to the start of 80s band dance music
God, these songs are so incredibly more meaningful NOW. It's like a time/dimensional book-end thing going on.
Fantastic Glasgow band - great memories from growing up in the 80’s - my favourite song is still See The Lights - long may they continue 😉👍
The best band ever ❤❤❤
Agreed with the comments here.

Non mi stanco mai
Que du bohneur d’écouter cette nouvelle version de cet album culte !
Glittering Prize is my Christmas song. Simple Minds 4 life. ❤
Brilliant!!
Massive. Solid. Excellent. Hugs from Romania
Hey what a classic bass intro. Feels like you're back in 1982 !! :) The guys still deliver !
Siete tra i complessi che hanno segnato la colonna sonora della mia adolescenza e gioventù nonostante il tempo passa suscitate ancora grandi emozioni ❤
Not many bands of that calibre still doing it , going watch them next year can’t wait
To my opinion you are one of the coolest bands ever. Since Belfast child I was addicted to your music and love it for the last 30 years! Keep going!
I absolutely love this band ❤
Always loved the songs that did not get the full attention commercially.
This one is one of them. A brilliant rhythm and Charlie’s wonderful guitar 🎸 play!
I adore this- such a unique song and well performed. Love Simple Minds! I was only about 5 when it came out but still love 80s music...
Beautiful venue with great acoustics. Great performance, never tire of that voice either.
Always great to see charlie sing a long ✨️😁
Man That was awesome! I love this band! I still have this album! They still sound amazing!👏👏👏🙏♥️😎👍
i wrote a song many years ago called ' Angels Sings' about a family who sat and watched their child die due to illness and could do nothing, i think Jim would just bring this song to life. i wish.
always been a huge fan of the band from the beginning, i have all their albums
Is the drummer Jim Kerry’s daughter, never seen so much focus on a drummer, as good as she is.
And still the most incredible sound to last the sands of time ❤️ absolutely love you
Drummer ??😯😯,absolutely fantastic,
Amazing live performance of one of my 80s top albums. Love Charlies’s guitar arrangement, Cherisse’s drumming, everyone at their best here. Good old Glasgow uni memories.
Pure performance, sheer and honest beauty!
I want to cry, so much memories... This rendition is perfect.
#1 on my bucket list. Seeing Simple Minds play live. Than I will be at peace
Do it! I saw them live twice over a decade ago, so not in their prime when I heard them on the radio. Well worth it.

I have had memories rekindled hearing this fantastic rendition.
Much thanks, with my compliments on an excellent performance of a genre defining song.
Sheer brilliance... awesome bass playing
Wow! .... you still got it guys 👌

I did enjoy it a lot though.
amazing
Semplicemente fantastici🤘
Mr Kerr, u have a ton of fans in Singapore. Can u pls do a gig here for 6 nights? We want to see Simple Minds Live in Concert.
Ged does Derek's bass lines proud ❤
what else can Mr. Grimes possibly do? He'd get crucified - which BTW is appropiate in a church - if he wouldn't play them right.
Think I'll have to get the CD...sound on this is amazing!. Love this track so much...
Brilliant ❤
Que show!!!
Great performance love this song remember when it was originally out thanks for sharing sound quality and venue perfect
Very glad to see this treatment for such a landmark album. I will always remember that gig in Belfast and it has aged beautifully.
