@@Ronnocbot honestly the school was a mess 😭 this school had a reputation around the area but that's most schools in the city. but I did forget how absolutely humongous the school was. I would run all the way to the other side of the building to go to the teachers' office to get coffee for the teacher all the way on the opposite side and it was a trek. It closed down because they built a new school somewhere else. I can't remember the exact reason they decided to do that though.

I retired with the school system…..they waste so much money, if people knew they would be appalled. What a waste!!!
I wonder if they ask for money for sports equipment desks and such on the previous Levi, The level of waste is astonishing reminds me of I’m looking in a school dumpster one week after close every summer there’s tens of thousands of dollars of office supplies in there every year

Sad that they left so much behind. I subbed at WT White HS. The DISD is on such a low budget. They should have moved usable stuff to the old schools that are still open. I now work in an Elementary school in Dallas that was opened in 1948. I bet all the still-open schools could use those books and other things. 🤷🏻♀️
I agree. I was a teacher for 23 years and always had little to no budget to work with. Always went year to year having to get by with what we had to work with. Not only do they not want to pay teachers. They do not want to put a premium on education in the USA.
The smell of the boys locker room always turned me on, and I don’t know why!
I like how at the far end of the main office where they kept a bunch of records out in the open, they have a sign that says, "Be responsible."
That kind of hypocrisy reminds me of why I hated school.
This would have been real nice can't believe it's destroyed in one year
I did drums for years sometimes they’ll have drum equipment or uniforms area or they’ll put the drums in room but it’s sad seeing people mess a lot of stuff up
I tried to film the music rooms a best I could. They were some of the darkest rooms in the building. No windows... I was shocked to see how much that they just left in there. Especially the Chromebooks and computer carts. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.

BEAUTIFUL LIBRARY! The glass enclosed cabinetry and wooden chairs look like mahogany. Quite expensive. Go price that stuff out at restoration hardware or the like. This city could make some good money with an estate sale. So damned wasteful! Some young man would really appreciate free cleats and pads. The desks could be donated to any struggling school district. What is wrong with our throw-away society?? Will this all end up in a landfill?? It's disgusting. Our grandparents would be mortified to see this waste when everything was rationed and precious in their generation.

Bassick High School Fairfield Avenue bridgeport. New building isnt even new, its a converted dorm.

yep you guys made local news there in Bridgeport actually it was more of an embarrassment on the part of the school district that building was to be emptied and they never did its easier just to raise people's taxes to re purchase all new stuff right

They built a new school in 2018 and left this one.
Fairfield Avenue high school, or Bassick. Had allot of structural issues and it was cheaper to build or in this case convert another structure into a school than keep the Fairfield Ave one open and fix it up. The area has also lost two private schools simply just from a lack of students because a public schools funding comes almost entirely from it's student count in this state. CT. The same reason why my Elementary school closed on the opposing side of the state, despite mine having a Gymnasium that was less than 15 years old and a new roof. They just didn't have the class sizes to stay open long enough after my younger brothers class had moved through.
Shout out to Miss Batova though, that woman taught me how to read when I was behind my class in ability. ( I still suck at spelling and grammar, I just don't care enough on youtube comments ) By the time I left 5th grade, I was reading at 8th grade level. You did good Miss Batova, you did good.

Some of the degradation is natural when things aren't maintained, but sadly most is from teens visiting the place to treat it like a rage room and looters. If not for them, the place would look mostly untouched, and would be a heaven for urban explorers. That's probably why there are the messages "fuck all you urbex losers, you came here late" there - clearly someone had some grudge and wanted to trash the place to spite urban explorers, for whatever reason. Heck, might've even been a student of the school, although with that amount of anger in them probably an expelled one :P

We don’t give out the names or the locations because they will get vandalized and more destroyed than they already are. Sadly, that is the downside of this hobby. I have seen places so perfect and untouched. Then in a few months they are destroyed. Exactly what has happened to this school.

Honestly, we haven’t been afraid of anything. i won’t let a place or people stop me from an explore or getting a place on film. If the place is interesting and I think people will watch. I do anything possible to get the content. I will also explore anything. I’m not picky like others who will only explore mansions or hospitals.
