- In today's Urbandoned video, we are exploring the abandoned Saddleworth High School a few months after it's closure in February 2022. Everything was left inside with working electricity, and the property was heavily vandalised until it's demolition in 2023.

What a disgrace! A piano and resources of that quality at potential of vandalism. You would think this country was made of money.
Once again, if you had not documented this, there would be no post closing record. great job guys ! Someday the students that attended there will love your documentation.
Thank you, that's the idea
My old senior school! Very nostalgic watching this!
Why did it shut down
cool
@@bubble78798 bcoz the teachers found it hard to manage and teach students without dated resources and lack of funding
@@bubble78798 cos they built a new one
@@bubble78798they moved to a different location.
Love abandoned schools, they have a sense of nostalgia that everyone can relate to
I completely agree, they are always very similar especially of this era
Sad another classic school demolished 😢
The good news is there are still other classic schools waiting to be restored.
@@reneastle8447 Or bloody demolished!
@@CockneyRebel1979 There are lots of people working to save the classic schools from extinction through fundraisers and restoration. They are a prime example of saving history.
Fantastic explore! Security seemed nice. Shame it got demolished 😢
Indeed, and they were delightful compared to some!
Great explore thanks, but all too short, sadly. The sheer moneys-worth they seem to walk away from never cease to amaze me. Much of it so recent & seemingly well equipped
How sad that it's gone. My old highschool has gone the same way. The older buildings have been demolished and modern blocks have replaced them.
Very sad..
Gone, but not forgotten - thanks to you guys.
Keep up the fantastic work!
That’s a big school! Sad this old girl was abandoned! Cool video bro! ❤️😢🤘👍
Wish I would have been old enough to have explored my old school before it was demolished. Awesome to see so much left in place!
It's good you managed to capture it.
You did an amazing video & cool information shared!
It’s so sad to see a school be torn down & not kept up for historical history purposes!
fair play to those security guards for being so calm and chill about the situation
With what had happened to the structure, they could have understandably been totally different in their approach
Another great exploration! Thank you for taking us along with you, your channel is my go to for urban exploration and abandoned places in the UK, the editing, professionalism and respect you have for your passion is off the charts and i appreciate the time and effort it takes to go to these places, which can't be easy sometimes and record history before it's gone. This channel deserves more credit than it gets!
I will say, seeing the amount of resources and equipment left behind is upsetting, other schools in the local area could've benefited with extra supplies. I guess there was a million reasons as to why they decided to not give the building a second chance but again, at least any ex-students who went there will appreciate this walk through, a trip down memory lane❤️
Really appreciate the kind words. It can be difficult sometimes, but we think it's a necessary thing to do, or they would disappear without a trace
The Fact NOTHING has been touched is AMAZING!
Yup!
I always find it intersting that bulletin board stuff is left up. I used to teach. If I had to leave one school because a new one was opening, I would take my stuff with me to use in the new school. Maybe in England the teachers to have to purchase their own items, but I did so I would not leave them behind!!
When the new school opened they were probably given a fairly substantial amount of money to purchase new stuff.
I never even went to this school, I left school 5 years ago. But this vid still gives me memories of being in high school. That weird nostalgia feeling
Was exactly the same with us as we walked through here, there was similarities between this one and our school
You guys are amazing, showing, as you do, the criminal waste of resources that Councils anywhere in this Country are guilty of. Just because a building complex doesn't meet with current standards, the reasoning that it's cheaper to build new than repair old seems crazy! So much perfectly good equipment going to waste. Being a musician, when I saw that Yamaha Grand Piano, still working and in tune, I really do hope that it was earmarked for use somewhere else. At least the Security guys seemed decent. Full marks for yet another great Video. One thing that always impresses me about your films is the professionalism of your work and the clarity of the narration, which is better than you get on some tv productions. Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much, that's the aim! With buildings like this, the waste of resources is a stand out aspect for sure
Reminds me of my first school. The Gymnasium especially. Great work Guys. Keep up the good work
Can't believe they just left a yamaha grand piano. They're worth around 10 - 20k
I know, right? :(
What a waste of a building
Local community centres could have used much of that equipment, tables and chairs, whiteboards, gym equipment.
Chemistry lab should have been found a new home.
Absolutely, so much stuff in there and other rooms that could have easily been sold to other schools nearby
Brilliant explore as usual guys always sad to see these old schools go
It’s always fun and interesting to go back and see old places that have been abandoned 🤔.
Interesting exploration, brought back memories 👍 thank you.
I love old architecture and hate false ceilings
Thanks for that well explanation to security soon be houses would loved to have explored my old middle school left for about 10 years before they knocked it down now planned to be houses
Fair play to you guys, you two handle getting caught amazingly, I'd be scared shitless😂😂😂😂
Such a waste of buildings and yes, you’re right the gymnasium would be great for a community hall or even the homeless especially in winter??
Fantastic vlog i love watching you guys, hoping you,ll do weekly vids again in summer 2 weeks is too long lol. Always worries me when security catch you but they seemed decent guys this week. Take care and thanks for sharing as always 😁
They're coming soon...
Always enjoying your vids and if you happen to get caught as in this one I always like if the security is nice like these ones
Indeed it's always a treat and sometimes not the case...
Well done guys. Good vlog. Kudos to the Security Personnel for being understanding and so cordial. If truth be known they are probably subscribers also.
It Would be great if certain security guards would allow groups of guys like you to photo and document abandoned places and buildings. All they would need to do would be to stay in the back ground and out of view of the camera. But keep you safe from parts of the building deemed dangerous.
But I know all the fun is in the secrecy of an entry and documenting what you came to find. There Would be no fun in a guided tour. Keep up the good work stay safe. 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
That took me back.
1:44 Watch yer nads lads!
yup....those spikie fence posts would not be fun to slip and fall on.........
@@Ralphie224 That would bring tears to your eyes!!!!!
There's nothing wrong with this school, often there's reports of a new school being built .
On face value its OK.
Agree alot of furniture and items should have been transported.
Love your videos! Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks!
Your intro is really nice yo!
This just makes me sad
Hello good video of the abandoned school.
Amazing explore. So many things left.
Btw. 6:55 i'm interested in that same camera bag. Can you recommend it?
School vandalism is usually done by former students, getting their own back I suppose.
Very moving...
@10:08> I didn't know you were a pianist Alistair!!!!!
Low back chairs, didn't mean them to get too comfy ! And "fair well" it said on the blackboard, I guess that wasn't the English class !
I know much more about the design of American schools, but I can guess that most of this one was built in the 1950s/60s (with some older portions, like the one at 13:28), and renovated/added onto later.
1960-70 apparently.
This one made me sad 😢
Great vidro but so sad. So much wastage of materials and loss of history. I hope anything valuable was reclaimed by students staff ir moved to new school
Who pays the electric bill with all the lights left on? Great video!
Council probably. It’ll be on some sort of automatic pay list or something. (Also just said it only closed a couple months ago so it may be on a timer for pay so it’ll run out at the the end of the month or whatever)
Sad that something like that happened sad its just gonna continue to degrade and be destroyed
For some reason it reminds me of Stranger Things walking around and seeing everything as it just was
It's the flickering lights ..
Love
The school shill have power that something else ! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I would pay a fortune to get my hands on some the old rubber soccer balls, that are left behind at some of these abandoned schools, especially middle schools and High schools.
Many of the sports balls are left behind, because they are so badly worn, flat, and old. I would love to get my hands on those old, rubber soccer balls, that are badly worn.
I could only imagine the goldmines of vintage sports balls - including rubber soccer balls, that could be found, not only in North America, but in Europe as well.
The reason I want those old rubber soccer balls is because they are so worn, and no two are alike. Some are so beat up from being used in soccer games year after year, they have a character onto them, from all the boot marks. Surprisingly, rubber soccer balls were commonly used in the 1970s and early 1980s, if the pitch was going to be wet or muddy
Before sneaking in, did you all ask the school district if you could go in and film? Perhaps they would have given you a tour. Did they remove the furniture and other reusable stuff before tearing the place down?
Usually, the answer is a resounding
any idea WHY they closed it down?
Why did they close it and demolish it when it looked perfectly fine
Gents, do we have any idea what happened to all of the equipment you saw in the school? It it were scrapped, then that would be a travesty, not to mention a waste of money. You have highlighted something of the throwaway culture we have in modern western society.
It's an important thing to highlight, judging by how much we see it in various places. No, we don't know what happened to it sadly
2022? So it closed quite recently then!
Hopefully the Yamaha piano wasn't destroyed! So much cool stuff but I guess they wanted it all new from the get-go. Shame some of the equipment couldn't be donated or something.
There was some wires sticking out of Abandoned High School ceiling
My son goes to the new billing and he just watched this with me
Sorry spelling
And I thought my high school was huge. It's not as huge as this one, though 😳 xx
Wonder if the building had RAAC?
Hello what year was this school built in and also what is the reason why the school got shut down for.
A favour
Explore abandoned M&S Walsall or any other abandoned M&S stores you can find plz
Fair play to the security, I was one exploring an abandoned place, I was waiting at the entrance where I got in and had no hesitation in leaving just for the guys to grab me n rip my clothes and assault me🥴
How are the new classes coming out in this a for with as a teacher or an intern at
Dude they left a wall projector in one of the first rooms those things ain’t cheap. wtf with all the waste
Massive piano aswell
why was the school closed?
Not far from where I live that wtf
What a shame and a waste, thank god that you explored it before it was demolished. Can anyone tell me do they remove all of the fixtures and fittings to give them to other places that might be in need ? Also what about all the students work? Does that all just get gone with the building ? If so How sad. Glad you found this tho
I don't know about this particular case, but in my experience of the UK construction industry, demolition firms will have network of dealers who will come in and take anything of value. Depending on value, those taking materials often have to bid for them to get the work.
Why would anyone want that work?
@@nicolad8822exams, tho they’d probably take all important stuff away. Not sure if it’s a high school or primary but either way you have exams to work towards.
‘Fairwell’? Dang, those kids really needed that school, huh
Would of loved to explore
Why this school is close his doors. ?😢
They built a new one.
Assets like the gym could have been retained for community purposes!!
Certain degenerates were the issue, replacing the building won’t help. Better means of information for the parents would improve things for the children also
Good video just the lip smacking was driving me around the bend sorry to say 😂
I relate !!
Probably old building had Concrete frac shame
2:09 suitable vvanking point
id hate to be paying the lighting and heating bills there. No wonder the country is going to the pits!
All the lights are still on so cant off been not long shut
What a waste of resources, in a third world country this would be considered
a 5 star establishment 😊
Free projectors
Why has all this stuff been abandoned?
I want to be an explorer with you
i have keys to St johns collage if you'd like to explore?
It was demolished in 2023
Good explore. Interesting that all the power and equipment was still on. It is only council tax payers that are paying for it - so what the hell - right? The security guys seemed cool - nice to see that not all security guards are dicks.
They could have put some stuff up for auction, but being a Council everything has to go through a tortuous process to even get there, also takes up staff resources and they were moving into new premises.
Please please please
Вы заметили силуэт военного изображённого на стене? Детей с детства учат ненавидеть друг друга и убивать
sick video as per usual, does anybody in this comment section think i should start documenting my urbex? untouched hotels, cranes, skyscrapers and mostly anything i can gain access to. building sites (large scale) and more. and would anybody be interested?
Camera please❤
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😮😮😮😮😮😮😮🎉🎉🎉🎉o🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
What a waste of
Mate your English, its a Secondary School, not a High School.
You know there are a fare fee schools that have High School in their name, London High School, Harrogate High School, even Grange Hill High School lol. 😂
@@CJFS00s Really? Im suprised, High school is generally an American term, not an English Term
Loads of schools are called high schools in Scotland too
In England you can call it a high school as well my school was literally called “St Mary’s catholic Highschool” and had that under the school logo and the blazer
Plenty of English Schools are called High Schools.
Have you heard of the hit game among us?
Terrible designed school. Good reddens.
Spelling!
See me.
@@JP_TaVeryMuchobviously didn’t attend scuwul! 😂
This school would be useful is the country went into national emergency
ĦۀËŁۀŁ
Why was such a modern school demod?
It must have been 60 years old? They’ve built a new one.
Good use of British tax money? How about redistribution of supplies to other schools?
