What an adventure!! I feel like this documentary takes me back to my roots in storytelling. It's a piece that I've been wanting to tell for more than 5 years now, and I'm so glad by how it turned out!
I just spent 2 days living with the Mundari Tribe in rural SOUTH SUDAN and it was an incredible and humbling experience. After spending most of my life in busy cities, it was so refreshing to witness how the Mundari's live such simple, genuine lives - far removed from the stresses of the Western World - yet they remain so happy and so close to nature.
The Mundaris are known as the “Cow Tribe” because they live among their cows (literally, thousands of them) and utilize their cattle for food, trade, dowry and survival. After spending 48 hours with the Mundari tribe, I learned that it's the simple moments in life that matter most - like family time and laughter.
I actually posted this video on RUclips a few weeks ago, but it got flagged and demonetized for various parts (i.e. the urine shower), so my team and I have blurred out all of the best parts (sadly) and this is the PG-13 version that you are watching. If you want to experience the FULL UNCENSORED version of this video, with no blurs and 30+ minutes of deleted scenes and extended interviews, then you can head to my website: www.drewbinskyuncensored.com/. The video is available on a pay-what-you-want model, and your contribution goes directly into helping me continue to tell epic stories around the world like this one. If you donate $50 or more in the next 3 days, then you'll be invited to join me in an exclusive Zoom Q&A call on April 5th. Thank you for supporting me as an independent filmmaker - I love you all!

As an East African, thank you for loving a part of Africa that’s often overlooked and undervalued. Your passion is unmatched. I don’t think anyone has the type of love and perception for other cultures like you do.
We are brothers
I would love to these places
We are created equal in the eyes of God regardless of race , colour , ethnicity , culture & religious beliefs

As South Sudanese, I was impressed to see so many positive comments here. Thanks to all of you❤❤. We welcome anyone wishing to travel here to experience the vibrant and diverse culture of South Sudan, home to multiple ethnic groups, each with their own customs, traditions and beliefs. Live music, dancing, traditional wrestling and intricate beadwork are just a few examples of the rich cultural heritage of this young and vibrant country. Whether you're interested in the country's traditional dress, food, or language, you'll be fascinated by the breadth and depth of South Sudan's cultural heritage. "South Sudan may not be the safest country," but South Sudanese are very friendly to foreigners.
To Drew Binsky
Thank you for sharing our cultures with the world. Your videos are not only entertaining, but they also help dispel myths and misconceptions and promote appreciation and understanding of different cultures.Keep up the good work ✌️✌️
You people are very backward.
I feel privileged to be able to be a visitor for a brief moment to your magical way of life. And thank you to Drew Binsky for opening up a window for us to get a glimpse!
Thank you for sharing! I would love to visit your beautiful country.
you guys are hella weird. Do you guys like dirtyness or something ?
I am going to live in South Sudan mark my words
I'm a mundari born in Switzerland thank you to my fellow people to keep alive and perpuating our great ancestral culture my dad left his home, many ppl behind even its own country because the war.
He used to keep telling me incredible stories all the time when he grew up they enjoyed and laughed that's how simple life was without money.
I lost him last year it is the most tragedical and complicated things to handle for me right now but as a proud and strong mundari who belongs to the mud I'm strongly attached to my roots and will keep teaching people about culture
Bro I want to know more about Mundari.. it's similar to Hinduism.. we also pray to Cow and use cow urine to purify people and we save cows and believe that cows are a form of God.
I want to know more about your God and religion...it's very similar to Hinduism ..love from India
@@pure_n84r99I'm from South Sudan but not from Mundari tribe am from the Dinka tribe we also keep cows for the same reasons as the Mundari and Nuer tribes and the reasons are the ones mentioned in the video apart from showering with cow's urine but we don't worship cows, we only have few that still believe that the animals as cows and goats can be sacrifice to other gods to give them health, wealth and whatever thing they need when their sacrifices are accepted by their gods. Hope this lil info helps

Wow!! It just struck me how much they smile and laugh. It shows that our true human nature is joyful spirit - and we cover over it with worries and concerns. Thank you!
Hi there! How are you doing and I hope you're having a great day! I was going through my RUclips when I saw your nice profile, I couldn't get my eyes of it so I decided to add you up as my lovely friend.
If I had to shower in piss, I wouldn’t be smiling and laughing that much lmao
South Sudan has always been a very interesting country to me. I'm so glad you can teach about the culture

As South Sudanese, I'm very proud of my people.
I originate from that very place, and in my Mundari community, the measure of our greatness lies in our dedication to preserving our cultural traditions. @Drew Binsky, It is regrettable that we didn't have the chance to meet that day in Juba and travel together. Nevertheless, I am immensely grateful to you for bringing awareness to important aspects of the world's various cultures that the world ought to know.
❤
Greatness ? Showering in piss, brushing your teeth with shit and sitting around in the dirt is not greatness.
That is one of the best videos I've seen. It's nice to see how people that aren't influenced by modern society live and are so happy. That's amazing how the cows go back to the village on their own and at a specific time.
I know right! Amazing 😊
It’s sad because 2 wars which resulted in 2 million deaths for South Sudan to gain independence from Sudan was all for nothing when a peaceful referendum happened in 2011
Indeed
Indeed this why I think it’s important for people to show the world their culture and story! One love One race the human race we all need to connect and feel for each other we all bleed we all pee poop feel pain joy excitement sadness etc.
So you can lie like that......2 million deaths where ?
@@junubdiscovery6359 yeh from what studies and official reports have said its roughly 400,000. I'm curious where the 2 million figure comes from

Saw the whole “uncensored video”. I don’t understand why RUclips would not allow it to be seen, this is the culture of these people . I thought it was very interesting . Thank you for bringing us such diverse and different parts of the world and the Mundari.
I know, right? RUclips is crazy!
Wow! That was incredible to watch. Can’t imagine how amazing it was to experience. As a Sudanese American woman, who longs to visit South Sudan someday, thank you so much for visiting and sharing this with the world. Much love to you Drew!

Im glad you were able to get this version out.
Of all the many stories that Drew has made, this has to be the most genuine and humbling of them all. These sorts of obscure and unusual videos with interesting stories is the main reason why I avidly watch all of Drew’s fantastic videos, though there are loads of other reasons why I watch them as well. Some day, I hope to meet the Mundaris too and visit the amazing country of South Sudan when the situation there has improved. Love from the UK 🇬🇧
Thank you so much!
I didn’t know that South Sudan 🇸🇸 speaks Juba Arabic but how actually South Sudan 🇸🇸 peoples are darker than Sudan 🇸🇩 peoples
@@shkarali670 They speak the native Dinka language too, as well as English among others
I remember that I was reading a book called “Home of The Brave” and the main character, Kek, said he was from Sudan (the book was published before South Sudan gained independence) and I used the facts I learned from this video (before the first version got blocked) and figured out that Kek was actually from the Mundari Tribe! It was so cool to figure it out!
So cool!!!
Kek is from the Nuer Tribe. Nothing in this video is inherently Mundari except the cow urine shower. Nilotics live very similar lives. At least on the surface level.
Absolutely the best story you made so far. I loved watching every minute. It was somehow emotional, made me think about the purpose of life and the many similarities between cultures. Amazing
Wow…thank you for this great work. I’m a writer & this doc has expanded my understanding greatly. Thank you, thank you for documenting the Mundari tribe in their natural habitat, primarily unedited. They are such a beautiful people. You now have a new subscriber 😊

Drew you have a good heart . Thank you for this video
Beautiful culture ❤thank you drew for sharing us with this masterpiece.greetings from nairobi kenya .
Yes, healthy urine is a sterile fluid. Probably much safer than any standing water in the bush. This is a really beautiful video, your love and respect for all people really resonate through all of it.
(edit) And yes folks I know this is an error, but it's certainly given rise to plenty of conversation, and helped me to learn to question long taken-for-granted "facts". 😊
❤️❤️
Also, unlike some bodies of water like rivers and lakes, it doesn't have some mad ameoba that eats your brain.
How is it sterile? There is plenty of living bacteria in urine
@@rockinhorse123 He said healthy urine. If theres no inflammation bacteria shouldnt be able to pass to the urine due to their size.
@@rockinhorse123 I was taught that in University, could be wrong I guess. If you have a UTI then it would contain bacteria, and once it's out it can accumulate bacteria, but at the point of exiting the body it is sterile, no bacteria or other organisms/pathogens.
I do not know this for sure though, it's just what I was taught and therefore believed, you may be right.
I'm from northern Sudan and I love the people of South Sudan and we are more than brothers ❤️❤️ our government and their government caused all of these problems and we both hate our governments. thank you so much for this video
Thank you for the journey. You are greatly appreciated! Many Blessings...
Thank you so much!

I hope one of these days Drew's going to make a doc where he stays in a place like this for several weeks at least. Love the longer content.

Hey Friends!! I think this story paves the way for the future of this channel with more interesting stories about tribes in faraway places, and I hope you enjoyed it! Love to watch your videos
Drew, I love how you are so adventurous, curious, and caring of so many cultures. To us it’s weird to imagine living in conditions like this and to shower in cow urine but the sad reality is is that many societies out there today still have to find ways like this to survive. Thanks for sharing this video. I was very intrigued
Thanks for watching !
its not sad it is their culture? very ethnocentric take
@@shukriiii I’m saying it’s sad that many societies still today don’t have the easy access to food, water, technology, etc. I’m not disrespecting their culture. If anything I’m actually supporting their culture.
@@QuiGonJack10 yes but I’m sure they prefer without it, and also there are cities in South Sudan if they wanted urbanization they would have went there, my grandma grew up similarly and even after living in Canada for decades she still went back
I think it'd be cool for the next tribe you go to ask your local friend what's their biggest problem, and give them a parting gift that will help them with it with the help of an expert.
In the case of the Mandari it can be some device or teaching them a technique to purify water, and for some other tribe it could be how to find copper that can be used to make a power generator.
Or for some other tribe a campaign for awareness, e.g to make the area more peaceful or whatnot.
While as it says on your shirt in the video, "we're all the same", but out of that we can also be empathetic and help one another.
Thank you for sharing bro!
I actually think it's quite alright to visit a place as a guest/ student without also being a patron of some sort. They are content with the way of life of their ancestors and if they don't feel they are missing out on anything, then there's nothing wrong with going there simply to be among them and learn about their way of life. The work that mission and humanitarian groups do is beautiful and important, as they exist to help with needs and resources in an organized way, usually with the buy-in and cooperation of the communities they are helping.
But it's also beautiful for someone like Drew to come and not at any point treat them like they have a deficiency but just partake in the culture and extend friendship and leave as a friend. A PEER. A visitor from another land who simply wanted to be with them for a while. No mission, no objective. Just learning and being together.
Theyre so close to eachother and happy, I loved watching this, thank you!
saw this in my recommended, gonna watch this and I'm early wow. i already know this is going to be a cool video

Just beautiful. Africa is so amazing. When I was in Egypt I went to Hapshetsuts tomb. On the walls there were wrestlers who looked just like these people, tall very black skin and red yellow hair. The cow worshipping is the basis of Nile Valley culture. This is an ancient culture.
We are ancient people, King Tutkhanmun is from my tribe. No Arabs call Tut khan Mun, but because we were displaced from there, that’s why we are in South Sudan today. We first settled in a place called Tuti in Khartoum before they pushed us to the South. We named that place Tuti, after our King Tut khan mun who ruled Egypt for many centuries.
@@pitrrkkipam1288 You are 💯% correct. The Arabs have NOTHING to do with the Pharonic Nile Valley culture. It is your people's legacy.
