I think it would be very worthwhile watching the sun set from this window, it would be super amazing. And it is not gonna be boring because you won't have this chance in all your flights.

So who is the winner to get those seats? The higher bids?

I feel like that would be cool but after 10 minutes of being up there it would get boring just looking at clouds unless taking off or landing. Just my opinion though.

+John Smith I think you would only be up there for 10 minutes though, as you would probably be in the lunge below most of the time.

Great idea , i hope they realize how thick that glass would have to be to withstand the pressure. Oh , and the shape of that glass would matter a lot , otherwise it will crack and burst. THAT'S WHY THE GLASS IN AN AIRLINER IS FLAT , since it expands due to the pressure and temperature. That dome shaped thingy will expand outwards and it will burst. Good luck with that fellas! And one more thing , if someone manages to pull that thing out (there's no way ) , the sun will blind you like hell so sun glasses are must ;) . And it's boring and dangerous for the planes structure.

they used something like that back in ww 2

Blazesaph inn ww2 planes did not fly up to 12000 m . They barely reached 7000 and were not pressurized.

+Geto Dacul yes but it WAS the 1940's and mankind has indeed advanced a lot since then. even if you told me that you were an aircraft engineer yourself, I would doubt that you know all about what is possible and what is not, unless you worked in the team developing this project. if we can travel in outer space, we can find a way to do this, really. As long as the profit is massive, man can do almost anything.

+Geto Dacul Fighter jets can travel much faster than airliners do, and many of them have curved, bubble-shaped canopies.

rcgflatulator yes they do sir , but! Fact nr 1 , they are not pressurized ! The pilots get oxygen in the masks . Fact number 2 , they don´t have to deal with cabin expansion. The area of the pilots view is infinitely smaller than the one that they made in the video. You know when the pilots can jump out of the airplane with the chair? They needed the glass to be curved so they could break it easier. ;)
