I highly recommend for you to check some of her solo stuff, it`s amazing. Also her classical stuff, like Ave Maria by Paolo Tosti from her 2015 album. She even composed an Ave Maria herself. She said in an interview, that she had to adjust a lot of her classical voice to work well with a metal band. When listening to her classical performances, you can clearly hear the difference.

The video you just watched was recorded in 2005, but the band decided to post it on their RUclips channel about 2 years ago, after one of the videos posted by a fan surpassed 70 million views.
This was my first intro to Nightwish over 20 years. I only knew a couple of songs. My mom had their CD and loved them. I loved this song. But 20 years later reintroduced with Floor. Thanks to RUclips I can experience Nightwish every day! Love this band!
I can't think why someone wouldn't be a Tarja fan anymore if he/she once was, because there was absolutely nothing bad she did to her fans. Their insane touring life was just too much for her and she wanted to have a solo career, which she had always wanted and which she had trained herself for. Instead, many old Nightwish fans abandoned NW after they fired Tarja, and that is what "The Poet And The Pendulum" is all about. Floor and Tarja are good friends, and the only problem is among the fans. Some can't let go the past and some can't appreciate the past. I love all NW eras now, but I admit that I had very hard time to adjust myself to Anette's voice, because the contrast was so huge compared to Tarja. Anette mostly sounded poppy.
This was the song that brought me into the Nightwish journey. The next song I viewed was GLS 2013. The third was the studio version of Amaranth. All in 45 minutes. Without knowing the band at all, I had seen all 3 female leads...but the musical compositions and the band members were what impressed me mostly. That was 2 years ago and I have been hooked ever since. People come and go, but the music remains. Every singer, every guitarist, every bassist, every drummer, every member of this band has made Nightwish what it is today, but without Tuomas, well, the last 2 years would have been boring for me.
I think it's great that Tarja was the beginning of the band to define the sound and direction, I haven't heard much of Anette but can see from what I did hear that she didn't fit in. Vocally or visually. Glad Floor has taken over. :)

There isn't really any competition between Tarja and Floor, apart from in our minds. They are good friends and have sung together. Look for Over the Hills and Far Away. Tarja has done some mind blowingly beautiful Xmas carols. Xmas is nearly here. Don't think it's too early for O Come O Come Emanuel. Warning! Be prepared for goosebumps!

Jacqueline, you have a good point in the end about energy and on-stage live performances. I concur, this one wouldn't have been as great (not this great!) as a studio release. Heck, the original was made for the stage as well! Loved to see your reaction. I'm a big Floor fan, because she's awesome, but Tarja was what made Nightwish establish a whole new genre for others out there. (I have a soft spot for Anette, and "Amaranth" is lovely, but with all respect she was clearly just a placeholder between two giants.) There's just something to original members of a band, even when they are long gone.

Simply put both Marko and Tarja are both classically trained singers. There is no more bad blood between Marko and Tarja they have worked together. Tarja ( taa-rr-ee-a) has sung with Floor at a festival where they dueted on over the hills and far away. The only fight is who can be more humble by asking the sound guys to lower her own mic. Not the others. They are still friends. They have had I.G. chats as well. Tarja is loved by all who know her. Unreqited love is the scuttlebut that Marcello has said was the issue in Tuomas' feelings for Marcello's wife Tarja. Who knows what the truth was. I do know that Tarja Turunen-Cabuli will celebrate her 20th anniversary on New Years Eve and their daughter Naomi is a wonderful 10 years old. Her best of album Living the Dream is out on December 02, 2022. The Christmas concerts are on sale now. 10 albums. 2 DVD full events. 2 live concerts on DVD and 5 Christmas albums. Well, THIS WEEK, the band actually DID play it live, for the first time in 17 years (since this Tarja performance, actually), with Henk guest appearing. Wow. Just wow. Rock on! 🤘😎👍
Great reaction! There is no need to choose between Tarja and Floor. Each are different but excellent singers and on some songs I may prefer one performance over the other and on some songs I like each of their interpretations of the song equally well. I do find that when I have a preference it is usually for whoever I heard sing that song first. In any case like all art, music is subjective, and what we like we like and we can share what we like without being negative or tearing down others. Some of my favorite Tarja songs are The Siren, Planet Hell, Nemo, Sleeping Sun, and Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan (one of the few Nightwish songs in Finnish). You've never heard Marko sing like that? LOL. You should listen to their cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes (Marko lead vocal) from this same show (End of an Era). He kills it in that one too. Floor has sung Phantom as well. With Henk Poort (Dutch phantom) at Beste Zengers 2019. And at her solo show im Amsterdam 2021, which is on her channel. More Tarja? Marko and Tarja are touring together in 2024 including singing phantom of the opera. Tarja was out of this world a true Siren with Nightwish, but Floor does a fine job today. I love this band now and before especially the live end of era concert unbeatable..

Just one fun fact, Tarja had the flu when she did this performance. The reason that she ran out right after the song was that she had to go out and throw up between songs, that's also why she sometimes breathed hard/heavy... and still she sang like that.
She had 5 costume changes during the show. She would have been given the steroids to ensure she could perform. You can't be physically I'll, running anywhere. Cleaning up, getting changed, touch up make up, come back to sing inside of 5 minutes. No she was really paying the price for days after. It was 3 days before she could make a public apperance to respond to the public letter. A fact they knew when they gave her the letter with instructions not to open it until the next day. But published it online overnight. The band knew. The world knew before she did. They did her dirty.

The album version is different. It is arranged differently. The ending is more epic on this live performance and that is why I prefer this live version. Please do more from this concert. I'm not quite sure which songs you have heard from this already. Although I know you saw the Ghost Love Score. Very good songs are for example Slaying the Dreamer, Dark Chest of Wonders (it was the opening song) and Wish I had an Angel (it was the final song). Also I don't know if you are aware but Tarja actually was sick on this concert.

This was Tarjas last appearance with Nightwish, as she was sacked directly after this concert. This is my absolute favorite concert with NW, as I was there. After I did hear about the sacking, stopped listening to NW for years, as I do VERY MUCH prefer Tarja. Had to come back because of Marco. Hey JVB! I'm running a little behind, but funny thing - you're no doubt aware that Floor has been doing this personally, with Henk Poort. And I'd heard talk that the band was about to start playing it again, before Marco left. Well, THIS WEEK, the band actually DID play it live, for the first time in 17 years (since this Tarja performance, actually), with Henk guest appearing. Wow. Just wow. Rock on! 🤘😎👍

Great reaction! There is no need to choose between Tarja and Floor. Each are different but excellent singers and on some songs I may prefer one performance over the other and on some songs I like each of their interpretations of the song equally well. I do find that when I have a preference it is usually for whoever I heard sing that song first. In any case like all art, music is subjective, and what we like we like and we can share what we like without being negative or tearing down others. Some of my favorite Tarja songs are The Siren, Planet Hell, Nemo, Sleeping Sun, and Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan (one of the few Nightwish songs in Finnish). Nightwish's best tour was during the Wishmaster era. from the early 2000's. Try someone off of "From Wishes to Eternity" live DVD, any song will due.
You've never heard Marko sing like that? LOL. You should listen to their cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes (Marko lead vocal) from this same show (End of an Era). He kills it in that one too.
Floor has sung Phantom as well. With Henk Poort (Dutch phantom) at Beste Zengers 2019. And at her solo show im Amsterdam 2021, which is on her channel.

Marko and Tarja are touring together in 2024 including singing phantom of the opera.
Tarja was out of this world a true Siren with Nightwish, but Floor does a fine job today.

Just one fun fact, Tarja had the flu when she did this performance. The reason that she ran out right after the song was that she had to go out and throw up between songs, that's also why she sometimes breathed hard/heavy... and still she sang like that.

She had 5 costume changes during the show. She would have been given the steroids to ensure she could perform. You can't be physically I'll, running anywhere. Cleaning up, getting changed, touch up make up, come back to sing inside of 5 minutes. No she was really paying the price for days after. It was 3 days before she could make a public apperance to respond to the public letter. A fact they knew when they gave her the letter with instructions not to open it until the next day. But published it online overnight. The band knew. The world knew before she did. They did her dirty.

The album version is different. It is arranged differently. The ending is more epic on this live performance and that is why I prefer this live version.
Please do more from this concert. I'm not quite sure which songs you have heard from this already. Although I know you saw the Ghost Love Score.
Very good songs are for example Slaying the Dreamer, Dark Chest of Wonders (it was the opening song) and Wish I had an Angel (it was the final song).
Also I don't know if you are aware but Tarja actually was sick on this concert.

This was Tarjas last appearance with Nightwish, as she was sacked directly after this concert. This is my absolute favorite concert with NW, as I was there. After I did hear about the sacking, stopped listening to NW for years, as I do VERY MUCH prefer Tarja. Had to come back because of Marco. If you want to listen to another great Tarja & Marco duo from the same concert, try The Siren (ruclips.net/video/LUy8T_3kieI/видео.html). Btw, did you know that Tuomas did NOT EVEN ASK Marco, if he wanted to come back, before the appointment of the new base player. As I said earlier, love ur reactions, and for now, it's the only time I listen to them.
