Tractor does not go uphill. Hydro-Gear transaxle 311-3500 rebuild. Part 1

Garden tractor Craftsman DGT6000 no longer goes uphill and it's slow. belt and oil change did not help. Hoping rebuilding Hydro-Gear transaxle 311-3500 will solve the problem!

There is a video from 12 years ago. That is a four part series that is excellent. I’m only watching this one because I wanted to see if anything had changed since then. I think I have a newer transmission than the one he was rebuilding by about 10 years.

The sear owners manual has the tear down schematic for hydogear transmission at the back just get the right trackter model and google it., I have dgs6500 2007. It takes 20w50 motor oil not dxtron fluid..

I also have a DGT6000 that wouldn't go uphill. I left it alone for a few months and suddenly started working again. I wonder if thicker oil would help.

any leaks or problems from having taken the pump off? I'm about to do this and is very helpful, thanks.

No leaks. Just make sure the gasket dries for at least 12hrs before putting oil back in.
