It feels warm to see our work. I was vehicle lead in team (Spartan112). We had a great time making it. The goal was to create an ultimate 3D universe experience. It's sad that we had to shut it down.
You and the whole team made an amazing mod for the community, so thanks for your hard work and dedication to the game. It really bothers me how hostile Take2 is to the modding community 🤦♂️

Back in 2021 almost before Take Two shut this mod down. Me and my friend hosted our own private Underground server where we would just chill out and do stupid shit in. We made weapon vendors, missions(although they were pretty janky), using airport, accounts, skins etc. All kinds of fun stuff. It was fun to just have a shootout in Los Santos to driving around Ocean Beach while listening to Flash FM and then flying near the Liberty City skyline. Those were some of the best moments in my life. Sadly weeks later the mod development got shut down. And then life happened and we drifted apart to our own ways. Maybe he still has the server files on his PC I don't know. But I can tell you people that this mod was something special.

It's literally called GTA Underground, so why cant the dev team or some other modders go "Underground" with it, develop the mod till its finished and leak it under a new name?

Lol, it's not as if the modders have a company or llc registered with their home/office address 😂😂 where they can get a legal letter. I think they are just scared, or they made the whole thing up since they're not interested anymore in working on the project. I mean, 6 years into this, porting, coding, fixing things up, or brainstorming gets you exhausted, and people change throughout the process.
Just look at what happened to YiFi, that dude who ripped/pirated movies on his site. They got hundreds of DMCA/Legal letters and they simply ignored them for years. In the end they hired a private firm to locate them and since he had bas opsec, they found him and then sued. YTS cost the movie industry if not Billions of Dollars, now what the hell can GTA Underground cost Rockstar? Lol

@@rainbowphoenix1686 it was intended for freeroam i think, even if you able to play the mission, i'm pretty sure it'd crash a lot anyway. To consider underground was taken down on development, so there is a chance we will be able to play SP mission if taketwo didnt kill the project.
There's actually a similar project currently being developed called GTA Stars and Stripes, it actually fills in the gaps between cities aswell which is awesome

I remember playing san andreas multiplayer on pc and joined a custom server with this mod, me and my friends made a small group called costra gang, a bunch of delinquents who roam around and rob stores, while the map itself is huge and can feel empty its so cool to see different maps from other games into san andreas, but sadly take 2 removed the mod, the worst part is we lost all of our progress, rip costra gang 2021-2022
MTA San Andreas is the best 3d massive multi-player experience I've ever had, I'm glad i discovered it when i was just around 10

I have played both multiplayer clients , But MTA was far better in SYNC, the feel of the game was great, while SAMP had more TDM/DM server which always lured me to it.

The issue with the textures is likely due to the memory streaming limit being reached, you can fix this by increasing the limit using the LargeAddress patch (to allow the game to use 4GB of RAM instead of just 2GB) and the Open Limit Adjuster to increase the amount of memory allocated for asset streaming.

Edit: The latest build, 4.2, is still on their main website. Every other version isn't, as far as I know.
The version I had had Liberty City, Vice City and Bullworth. Carcer and Cottonmouth were there but not worth exploring in my opinion. There's also Midway which is unfinished.
I think I installed the last build from their website. If I'm not mistaken, it was the 4.2, and I only checked out Liberty City and Vice City because the other ones, like you said, were pretty much incomplete so I didn't waste much time with them.

You should check Starts & Stripes. It's a work in progress mod that adds the entire USA (3d universe edition). So far there's a lot of progress done. You should definitely give it a try

Rockstar gives a pass to modders/mod menus that get people to buy their newest game but condemn people who enchance their previous games because "lost profits". Kinda disgusting tbh. And this is comming from a casual gta 5 modder who can literally do whatever i want in gta online. Kinda hypocritical. Btw everything i do in online is to have legit mutual fun with other people, VERY much not everyone wich is why i do criticize how shitty rockstar handles hackers. Id be very happy with the new game being hacker free as long as it wasnt a micro transaction hell and keep ot a level playing field for everyone.

My prediction for this is because they have plans to do this either in gta 6 with updates or later down the line. Take two and rockstar don’t take down mods unless they directly interfere with their creative properties that will make money. Kind of like why all those gta “remake” mods were taken down before the definitive collection
But its a fucking mod, the creators are not getting any money from the mod just aside from donations, adds more *FREE* content to an old Game that makes them alive which benefits Rockstar and Take2. Attacking the modders community because they want to release some shit its not good, they did the same for Trilogy and it was completely garbage. Talking down mods before a "big" release its just showing the company has any consideration to their community.
GTA 6 wasn’t even a thing back then. I doubt they have plans to do any of this, it’s just corporate greed

There's literally no snitch, Take Two just keeps changing the rules on what is allowed for mods. GTA Underground was taken down because of a rule change that they never informed anybody about, so now we can't even mod other Renderware Rockstar games into GTA San Andreas.
The fact the mod was so detailed it shows how modders made such a god tier work.
That store that he couldn't get into in liberty city was an internet cafe also found in gta4

A marathon mode where the player has to play through the three main games' campaigns back to back could be a fun form of challenge play and speedrun play. Something like R-Type DX for the Game Boy Color, or the Tale of Two Wastelands mod for Fallout.3 and New Vegas. Maybe allow the player to select what order they'd handle the games, so they can prioritize what title-specific upgrades, weapons, vehicles, and whatnot to get soonest.
You can enter and derail trains in the base game

Great video, but this is maybe about 20% of what there is in the mod. For example, there is also an optional storyline mode where you can play SA normally with missions from start to finish, as well as a custom multiplayer client but nobody really plays that nowadays. There are DOZENS of custom and converted interiors, hundreds of added weapons and cars, a bunch of stuff from VCS and LCS, plane travel between the airports using the ticket system that exists in vanilla, guns and cars having their original sounds from the games they were added from, offroad missions from GTA 3 and VC like patriot playground, multistory mayhem and more.
Also FYI everyone:
Take Two eventually cancelled the take down. The devs could have continued, but they simply used it as an excuse to stop developing because the truth was: none of them wanted to work on it anymore.
GTA Stars And Stripes seems to be the next big thing, but that one is a bit different in a sense that they are making a HUGE landmass that's going to be like 16 times the size of the entire vanilla san andreas map. Also it's way, way behind in terms of what UG offers gameplay wise, but it does have a massive landmass so you can drive through the countryside to LC and VC and they are doing stuff like interconnecting traffic between the cities. It has Bullworth as well as a 3D "Anywhere City" from GTA 2 and like dozens of custom built cities.

That's sad that this mod got taken down. Willing to bet with more time, those manhunt maps would've been flushed out a bit more, maybe even mod Bullworth (The Bully map) a bit too.
thankfully GTA SA Stars and Stripes is being made and now that the definitive edition is dead Take Two most likely wont take the mod down
honestly, for the next anniversary of GTA 3, it would be nice to get something like this. maybe with new missions, Claude has no voice actor, so it wouldnt be that hard to give him new connections on missions in other cities. OR they let the modders go back to work. or allow them to make this official. Hell, a brand new 3D era game with all this would be so sick!

GTA Star & Stripes mod are believed to be the spiritual successor to the long dead Underground mod. The mod is still in development though, still focusing on the map, the cities are still empty and no NPCs, items, weapons, vehicles, and etcetera yet.
13:18 They're actually not reflections but copies of the buildings in reverse underneath the map. A pretty clever way of doing a "reflection" in 2001.

@@SHAWDOW. Yeah I think San Andreas was the first to have real reflections. But even in San Andreas theres a few interiors with the reverse geometry method. Vice City had it too with the bank interior and moist palms hotel being a couple to name.
