    hello,im hobby mashinist from Bulgaria and i wanna ask something.im starting to build my own cilyndrical grinder like yours,mineral casting base, rotating column with OD spindel,ID spindel,cast iron table from old russian tool grinder and so on.so my question is how you move X Y Z axis?ball screws or hydrolic cilynders?thank you very much for the great videos.

      Dear Mr. Stamatov. Thank you for your feedback. We use ball screws for our S31 X and Z axis. See the S31 also on our homepage for more Information: www.studer.com/en/cylindrical-grinding-machines/grinding/product/s31/

    Hello, do you use ordinary C axis or modified, does machine have C axis brake ? When off center grinding how is the initial positioning of C axis done ?

    • @FritzStuderAG
      @FritzStuderAG  2 года назад

      Thank you for your interest. We use a high-precision C-axis (scale). The C-axis does not necessarily need a brake. The correct position of the C-axis is measured once (1x) by means of a length positioning probe, which is located on the grinding head, in relation to the clamping device. This gives the starting point/position for the out-of-round grinding operation.

      @@FritzStuderAG Thanks for answer. Do you use linear motor on X axis ? Do you use absolute encoder on C and XZ axis ? Is using high-precision scaled C axis mandatory for off center grinding or it can be done with standard C axis. This also apply to X axis linear motor, or it can be done with standard servo motor and ballscrew driven axis ?
