As someone who never got beyond a small lathe in a home workshop and who struggled to get 'near enough' dimensions with micrometers, I'm always astonished at the precision attainable with these gigantic automated machines. Very impressive.🙂
It is a dream of mine to someday own my own mini (or medium) manual lathe. I will, someday, but at the moment I just haven't got the space for it, plus I have neighbours that won't appreciate the noise. Someday though... I'm in IT so nothing to do with skilled manual labour but I am fascinated by metalworking nonetheless. No idea why I commented this on your comment, it just made me think of my dream to buy a lathe 😋 and a CNC... And a mill... And.....
CNC cutting machines have revolutionized the manufacturing industry, making it faster and easier to produce high-quality products with precision accuracy. From woodworking to metalworking, these machines are essential for any manufacturer looking to stay competitive in today's market.
NC. Wow. You go back a ways...I do remember learning NC, and thinking how advanced I thought it was. CNC, with up to 120 pre-programmed tooling turrets, blows my mind.
Unreal can’t no longer understand what’s happening. The cnc machines. As a former machine shop worker. Different planet. Ultra advanced tech .. wooow. Just can’t comprehend the complexity no longer …. Woow
I'm just curious, who knows for sure, what is an average lifespan of such cutting heads, or to put it slightly differently, how much volume of such hard allows they can process before they become completely inoperable and useless?
I've worked with a giant Froreip VTL but it was old and beat up. I'd love to spend the rest of my career working with good quality mega machinery capable of holding tight tolerances

@10:22 its all good and dandy until the machine crashes. Ive ran Mazak's at Woodward GOV in Loves Park, IL during My summer break from law school. We would take a blank and turn them into fuel control units for GE and Rolls Royce jet engines. Awesome place to work and learn from. This company used to have classroom outside the main factory for students to learn how to use read blue prints to use micrometers and calipers to running machines before CNC's were invented like during WWII they had their own dentist doctor's office inside and all the men had to wear bow ties
@@stevencoyne4971 My last gear machine was a Fellows cnc shaper. Had about a 28" table. It cost us $480k used but it was only as good as the cutters I had to buy. I had 5 old 1950's Fellows shapers that just kept running. They were built So much better than the Chinese crap that were cheaper in every way.
I just put in 3.73 gears in my Z28. The manufacturer stated "A New 5-cut technology." The instructions said to Break them in. What??? Surface finish was bad, ~ 150rms! Obviously they were Skived. I've Never needed to do that before and I've done it 3 previous times.
sound volume doesnt fit. sound to video doesnt fit. and "turning is the common operation on a lathe" - thats what it is built for... so yeah i guess...
It's as if you were watching a pottery factory. Here I pause for a moment to seriously think about the matter of creating this much more complex mind than these machines

I couldn’t figure out why they were machining a universal joint that served no purpose either. Nothing against the machine. I just feel something else could’ve been done.
As a retired machinist I am awestruck at the ability of modern lathes
They definitely aren't your grandpappy's lathes.
I’ve been a machinist for 37 year and never seen anything like it buddy
I admire the people who write the operating instructions for these machines. One mistake and disaster .

Isso é o topo da perfeição!!! Parabéns, fiquei encantado!!!!
Excellent work ❤❤❤
Que coisa mais linda de ver. A tecnologia revolucionou a indústria, a robótica.
Some of those are not machines! They are BUILDINGS! Damn they are huge.
I came in machining in the early stages of N.C. AND CNC . I will tell you they are flying at light speed now. Impressive.

Amazing machining 👊🏻
1:42 Is it for demo of the machine only? I suspect anyone is willing to make a part (crankshaft) like that.

The Bost people sure make some awesome machine tools!
Great video. Thank God there is no music music and machines do not go together. Thanks again.
Are there any mills or lathes that have two cutting tools working simultaneously?
Begitu canggih dn sempurna CNC .
Nice video, thanks :)
I want to see more of that 18m lathe!

I guess it would be safe to say you are not going to see these machines in your local garage machine shop.

Time is money, so quality vanishes and obsolescence rules manufacturing.

Me interesa la máquina
I know the thumbnail is photoshopped but, what exactly is that dude supposed to be doing to the solid piece of steel with that tool he has?

Im pretty sure this was a machine demonstration with a useless universal joint
Seems pretty useless milling a universal joint profile on a solid shaft! Not much “ universal” about that joint!
That is pretty f**ked up eh?
I couldn’t figure out why they were machining a universal joint that served no purpose either. Nothing against the machine. I just feel something else could’ve been done.
I think some of these videos are just promo’s to show the capabilities of the machine. The parts have no useful purpose.
You make a solid observation.
