I know some people thought that George Jones walked on water, but for my dollar, Jerry Lee was the greatest country singer of his generation, and he proved it right out of the starting gate when he released his classic version of "Crazy Arms" as his first record.
I saw him in London in the early 60s in a small dinner room. I guess he was in exile. After 2 or 3 songs he asked for requests. There were 3 or 4 and he looked right over at me, sitting close by. I yelled out, "sing You Win Again". He lit up and nodded and sang it. I think he loved that song. It was always my favorite and although the great Hank Williams wrote it that song was destined to later be sung by Jerry Lee. He truly made it his own and Hank would be proud.

Elvis NEVER spelled his Middle Name ARON with Two '' A '' s !!! ONLY ONE A !!! On all of his Official Documents, Birth Certificate, School Records, Music Contracts, Movie Contracts, Army Documents, Marriage Records , etc ONLY ONE A !!!! It was done that way at his Birth to match his twin brother's name Jesse GARON which is spelled with only One A !
@@BearStar1 You do talk shit! Take a look at his gravestone! ********************************************* Elvis was named after his father, Vernon Elvis Presley, and Mr. Presley's good friend in Tupelo, Aaron Kennedy. Aron was the spelling the Presleys chose, either it was a spelling mistake or apparently to make it similar to the middle name of Elvis' stillborn identical twin, Jesse Garon Presley. Jesse was apparently named after Vernon's father, Jessie Pressley, (Yes there are two s') although the spelling was slightly different. ********************************************* Toward the end of his life, Elvis sought to change the spelling of his middle name to the traditional and biblical Aaron. In the process he learned that official state records had inexplicably listed it as Aaron, and not Aron as on his original birth records. Knowing Elvis' plans for his middle name, Aaron is the spelling his father chose for Elvis' tombstone, and it's the spelling his estate has designated as the official spelling when the middle name is used today. In Memphis, Elvis was enrolled in the eighth grade at Humes High School, as Elvis Aaron Presley.
I have been at 12 shows from 1982 to 2008 with Jerry Lee, but this is the most impressing version of you win again i ever heard! It is a scandal that he isn't inducted in the Country music hall of fame!
Because he married his underage 3rd cousin who was only 13 years old at the time and he was in his mid 20's ! That is what ruined his music career in Rockabilly/Rock'nRoll before he changed over to Country and that is why he will; never be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame !!!
Sensational - Jerry Lee can sing a ballad like no one else. I love this old classic - terrific song writing. He and Fats are the cream of the crop with this one . Thanks for posting this winner. - Paula
Nobody , I mean nobody can touch his amazing piano playing , his voice or his style. One of a kind and effortless. The killer . May you rest in peace Jerry Lee.
Its not normal to see a 22 year old loving the crap out of this type of music. The old gen layed the foundation, my job as a new gen player isnt to go off my own, its build upon that foundation that they layed before me. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Truly a Master Pianist.
Today's generation has RUINED country music. Country music was made for the honky-tonk and church. Today's is made of crap. There's still some good ones still kicking but they're dwindling sadly.
Love you, too, Jerry Lee. He makes his style of piano playing into quite an art. It's awesome to watch his hands hit every note, in more ways than one. Music like this is to be cherished. -Paula
jerry lee is self taught. when he had his problems in the 50's he did a lot of studio work. he was recording with someone, i don't remember who; he was presented with the sheet music and said "what the hell you want me to do with this shit, play the damn song. they played it once and he never missed a note.
he played the Stardust in Waldorf Md. back in the day , last show about 11:00 start . Walked out with a bottle of whiskey , took the top off , and said " when this is gone , I'm gone " , two and a half hours later he was . The longer he played , the better he got , and the better we liked it ...............awesome concert by a legend .
MrBuckshot44 first thing i want to say is i love this guy's music. grew up with it. but and there is a but, i went to see him at klienhan's in buffalo. showed up so drunk he couldn't perform. kept sticking the mike in his pants, never finished a song. hank williams jr. was the warm up act and killed it. saved jerry's ass because a lot of people wanted their money back. about two years later i got tickets to a show in toronto ontario. i figured he wouldn't do this to me twice. this time he never even showed up. i continued to listen to his music but passed up every chance to see him after that.
MrBuckshot44 my sister and I were at the waldorf we were sitting on the edge of someone s table very close to the stage shook his hand when he got up to leave. Still listening to jerry Lee. S. Dehn. Balto. Maryland
This proves that country and classical are the purest forms of music...every singer that grows old or wins against the battle against drugs starts singin country or plays classical because it soothes the soul. It brings peace to your mind.
You mention country and classical music in their purest forms and I'm reminded of Schubert's songs (in German) and the heartache of country music when I was growing up.
Music and songs are about many things. But country music is often about what goes wrong in life. I can relate well to country/western music and Jerry Lee is the best. He sings a song like he really knows what it's about and the way he plays that piano makes me wonder if that piano is 18 years old or over.
You have to understand singing while playing an instrument triples the difficulty. Yes them other guys can play great piano not doubting that. Bu Jerry Lee was on another level.
Hello! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day! Stay Safe..
According to his sister, at age 8, Jerry sat down on a piano bench and started playing just like that. No lessons, no music teachers or how to play books. Just pure born with it talent.
Best version of this classic and it’s not even close. The virtuosic finesse he has on the piano combined with his natural country vocals makes this my fave country song ever. Criminal he’s not in the hall of fame.
Got to see him twice ! In Montreal Quebec Canada ! He has to be one of the greatest R&R singers And one of the greatest Country singers ever ! And l have seen many in concert .

*********************************************
Toward the end of his life, Elvis sought to change the spelling of his middle name to the traditional and biblical Aaron.
Jerry Lee's improvisation between 1:38 - 2:18 is among the best I've heard him play. Enjoyable really enjoyable ....

I loved this solo!!!! Jerry Lee Lewis forever!
I have been at 12 shows from 1982 to 2008 with Jerry Lee, but this is the most impressing version of you win again i ever heard! It is a scandal that he isn't inducted in the Country music hall of fame!
WHAT? That's truly bizarre.
Are you fucking kidding?
A joke he is perfect
Because he married his underage 3rd cousin who was only 13 years old at the time and he was in his mid 20's ! That is what ruined his music career in Rockabilly/Rock'nRoll before he changed over to Country and that is why he will; never be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame !!!
MrKiller958.
So beautifully performed. Enjoyed so much. Thank you
Sensational - Jerry Lee can sing a ballad like no one else. I love this old classic - terrific song writing. He and Fats are the cream of the crop with this one . Thanks for posting this winner. - Paula
Couldn't agree more...Jerry Lee and Fats are two of my absolute favorites!
Nobody , I mean nobody can touch his amazing piano playing , his voice or his style. One of a kind and effortless.
The killer . May you rest in peace Jerry Lee.
To hear Jerry Lee play this is person is overwhelming! I think it brought tears to my eyes when I heard it in person.
JUST TOO GREAT TO BELIEVE!
We will miss u Jerry . I was so fortunate and blessed to play with him at Hernando's hideaway in Memphis Tennessee in the 80s
So blessed ! ❤
Rest in peace Jerry. You were just fabulous!!
I am 64 and have loved this song and played it on guitar for 40 yrs, I hope before I die I can play half of the cool licks that Jerry lee plays here
Before any of the rock guitar gods this dude is rocking the piano. Amazing!
Saw Jerry Lee Lewis perform in Allentown,Pa in 1957.Thanks Lord and may this great man RIP.
Absolutely unbelievable! I can't put it into words how talented this man is. Amazing!
Its not normal to see a 22 year old loving the crap out of this type of music. The old gen layed the foundation, my job as a new gen player isnt to go off my own, its build upon that foundation that they layed before me. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Truly a Master Pianist.
He was amazing. There's never been better.
Today's generation has RUINED country music. Country music was made for the honky-tonk and church. Today's is made of crap. There's still some good ones still kicking but they're dwindling sadly.
True. As seen here.
superb his voice and piano playing is magic.
Beyond words, magic !
I would love to meet him, does he still preform ❤️
And not drunk!
"The Killer"I play your music loud and proud although I am in my 40's your music and presents is still felt, thank you Mr Jerry Lee Lewis .
Thank you Jerry Lee for all the music. I learned to play emulating you and other greats and it has provided a lifetime of fun. RIP Killer.
he played the Stardust in Waldorf Md. back in the day , last show about 11:00 start .

Perhaps the best rock ‘n’ roll pianist ever 👍👊🇺🇸
The ol Killer can whip an audience into a frenzy or sing a ballad and put a tear in every beer. Best piano player and singer who ever lived.
Hello how are you doing..?
Oh my goodness I listen to him at least once a week. He's on my play list , I love his music.
This proves that country and classical are the purest forms of music...every singer that grows old or wins against the battle against drugs starts singin country or plays classical because it soothes the soul. It brings peace to your mind.
Love his music.

Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face
Jerry Lee one of the greatest entertainers. But, "The greatest piano player."
Oscar Peterson might dispute your comment😏😃
@@dougwhite1673 Oscar is great, and Erroll Garner might have a say, as would James Booker.
You have to understand singing while playing an instrument triples the difficulty. Yes them other guys can play great piano not doubting that. Bu Jerry Lee was on another level.
Amen
Hi Betty
There will never be another Jerry Lee Lewis. Michelle Gilly could never replace my long time friend, Jerry Lee Lewis.
Just pure born with it talent.
a famous quote of a longtime friend : "WHEN JERRY LEE ROCKS ... EVERYBODY ROCKS" ... never a truer statement made ... thank you RAY ...
This is my favorite version of this great classic.
Best version of this classic and it’s not even close. The virtuosic finesse he has on the piano combined with his natural country vocals makes this my fave country song ever. Criminal he’s not in the hall of fame.
Jerry Lee - great, fantastic, country at its finest - go Killer......
Hello Yvonne
Ole Jerry lee made that piano talk. ❤❤❤❤❤
By far I believe the best version/performance of You Win Again by Jerry Lee Lewis!! He performs so effortlessly!!
Got to see him twice ! In Montreal Quebec Canada !
He has to be one of the greatest R&R singers
And one of the greatest Country singers ever !
And l have seen many in concert .
