iRobot Looj meets its match... or does it?!

  • I finally had a chance to try out the iRobot Looj that I gave my father for Christmas. His gutters were loaded with sludge and lots of maple tree growths. Wow! This thing is actually fun. The video shows my first attempt to use it to clean a heavily loaded gutter. Although it's probably not recommended for such "heavy duty" work, the Looj actually did a great job after I figured it out (AFTER the video was taken). You really just need to take your time and take "small bites" of the debris. If you do that, it will clean out just about everything. Also, originally, I thought it was a problem when the Looj flipped over, however, I now realize that it's not a problem at all. It continues to work fine (top side or bottom side) with the tank tracks. Overall, I must say that I am very impressed with this gadget. For most normal gutter cleanings, it would work great. For heavier problems, it just takes a little patience. Actually, it's alot of fun running this little radio controlled vehicle back and forth. It's much safer too since you only have to set up a ladder in one position and you can work the complete gutter from that location. Enjoy the video and invest in one of these if you want to have "FUN" cleaning up your gutters.

    just as soon as i saw the ???GROWTH !...... in this mans gutter ! i just KNEW he was in for a challenge!......i fell out laughing when it kept flipping over ! And the guy was like......"ah?" and i was like " AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!" good video though, because the little looj thingy did make a good go of it ! i have to admit, it was a credit to its effort!

    While I am surprised it was able to drill through that dirt, I think the inventing company overlooked one big disadvantage.
    The Looj simply throws all the stuff which is in your gutter onto your patio, driveway or whatever is underneath...
    So while it "may" save you time and risk up on the ladder, you afterwards have to brrom or clean your patio, driveway or whatever is below the gutter.
    What I do is take a little showel, take a bucket with me, climb up, showel the dirt into the bucket and repeat the process - takes not that much more time imho.
    Plus I dont know if fiddeling with this electric gadget makes you safer on the ladder, then working the "old fashioned way"

    In 10 yrs of house painting I have only seen one gutter like the one in the video where plants were growing in the gutter like it was one long flower pot. This one must be done by hand but the average gutter you can stand on one end with a garden hose & nozzle. This robot is no where near as advanced as it needs to be, it needs more advancements like the ability to climb the wall of the house& tunnel through all of the gutters & downspouts then climb back down& report back to you when it's done.

      Global Awareness I agree... My gutters get filled every year... But I clean them at least at the end of the season. This gutter seems untouched in like 4 seasons.
      Good feedback.

    The looj ONLY works from right to left, not left to right. It the direction of the auger.

    Oh but it works so well at the convention halls where the gutters are clean and dry and they throw fake dry plastic leaves in front of it. LOL, I wonder how many people think that duplicates a real life experience with a gutter full of mud, shingle gravel, and compacted leaves. There is nothing like the real life test as done here, I wouldn't buy this if it were $1.00

    Sprouting maple seeds are definitely more than one should expect, but it looks like someone ran the cable TV line through the gutter too!!! What I'd really like to know "Is the robot fully submersible?" My gutters are usually full of water.

      According to iRobot, the Looj works submerged in up to 1 foot of water.

    Wow, that was an amazing gutter. I thought mine were bad, but nothing is actually growing in them. Anyway, I enjoyed your video but next time when you put the camera down, show us what you're doing. We can gather from the sounds, but it would be helpful to see.

    @upjumbo Haha I agree this guys gutters are among the worst I've seen and I would not expect the robot to even do a good job but still there should be a maximum power button or something..... maybe. Either way this is the Fourth video I've watched 2 witch worked but of course they where from the makers website or promotional speaker. The other 2 one from a reviewer and this one which did not work. I was really hoping to get this for my dad Now I am not so sure.

    Just reach in there and grab it out. That ladder woulda been moved twice already.

    Why would you think it works from right to left, it's trying to eject the crap up and onto the roof, would like to see a more realistic trail. Like my house with two 55' gutters but no trees growing from them.

  • @gregoryhume9816
    @gregoryhume9816 6 лет назад

    Why would you put it in gutter from right to left? Don't you want the debris going over the gutter onto the ground and not on the roof, am I missing something. From the left it would be turning clockwise.

    well that thing is a joke!
    it cant even go in a full gutter and it makes stuff go on your roof then eventually its going to fall back in your gutters lol. you got ripped off

  • @upjumbo
    @upjumbo 13 лет назад +2

    I actually have one of these, and it works great, if your not running a tree farm in your gutters! These guys should be ashamed to even show their gutters on a video. Watch a realistic test to see how it really works!!!

    That's just plain stupid to have that much stuff growing in your gutter. Bet the fascia and roof is rotting due to ignorance. It's called laziness, and that robot won't fix it.
