I would say that the animatics they previously watched, did not do the musical justice. Particularly when focusing on Angelica and Alexander’s relationship. Now this may be a unpopular opinion but some of the cutesy animatics did not do a good job showing the likeness of the actual musical. Because the animatics were showing an inaccurate representation of the musical, it’s easy to understand how Jane and JV get the wrong impresssion based on the animatics showing Angelica and Alexander’s relationship.
Angelica never acted upon her feelings for Hamilton and the letters they sent to each other weren't romantic not sexual,so I don't see why she has to be called a scumbag...

Y'all really need to get the idea that Angelica and Alexander were after each other out of your heads. They were very compatible, and maybe a little flirty, but they both loved and adored Eliza and they were great friends with each other.

Second of all, First Burn is a beta version of the actual Burn, and therefore it is not canon, so you quoting it is pointless. Third of all, there were never any "activities" going on between the two other than the occasional letter writing, which Eliza was completely aware of. So stop trying to make up ridiculous reasons to dislike her. Angelica Schuyler was a great person. She disregarded her own feelings immediately and allowed Eliza to pursue Alexander simply because she wanted her to be happy, she fully supported Eliza when Alexander cheated despite her connection to him, and she helped Eliza "tell his story" after Hamilton died. I know Angelica loved her husband and didn’t attend Eliza’s wedding, a few articles I’ve read have implied that Alex and Angelica did often flirt with one another - but it was almost like banter and at the end of the day, they loved their spouses.

The difference beteeen Angelica and Alexander is like the sun and moon. Angelica had feelings for Alexander, BUT her love for Eliza was far stronger. She married someone she could never truly love (in the musical at least), and not once did she ever write a love letter to Alexander. She kept things no more than flirty between them. She always affirms too him, that Eliza would come first. Always. She loves her sister's more than anything. And when Alexander cheats, Angelica is both furious and hurt. Alexander however, he cheated on Eliza with Maria Reynolds, he knew what he was doing. He needed a break and he refused to take one. It was his own fault. He was the one who wrote love letters to Angelica (My dearest, Angelica for example. A whole new meaning). He then publicised the affair BEFORE telling his wife (again, in the musical), and he didn't understand the big deal, because he saw it as saving his career and not his marriage. He needed a wake up call. And that's exactly what Angelica provided in Congratulations. Alexander didn't understand or realise just how truly amazing Eliza was, until it was too late.

I think I read this interview in an article a while back when Hamilton was getting famous that Lin said in a way Hamilton’s love of his life was Eliza, but Angelica was in a way his soulmate, because they were both so similar and also were true intellectuals. I’d also have to argue that John Laurent’s was in the same position as Angelica where Hamilton had a great deep love and respect for him. Angelica and Hams letters were never in no way sexual or wrong they mostly discussed politics but Lin said that their letters portray the chemistry they had for each other based on how passionate they were when it came to politics. As for Hams and Johns letters, I don’t want to say they were sexual but many people believed they were questionable. Although many historians have gotten rid of most of their letters or have tampered with them over the years, the ones that do remain do show their love for each other as great friends but also elude to something more than that. Eliza had Hams heart and Angelica had his soul, and John had his mind 🤷♀️ but that’s just my opinion.
Angelica actually blamed herself. Yes, she gave up her happiness for Eliza, but it was because she had given up her happiness that Eliza was now as hurt as she is. She blames herself for that, for indirectly hurting her sister so badly.
I mean I get where your coming from with the Angelica thing but what else was she supposed to do? She can’t control her feelings for Alexander and she never acted on them. She explained in satisfied why she couldn’t be with him both for social reasons and to spare Eliza from the heartbreak that Angelica herself had to feel by letting Alexander go. She sacrificed her own happiness for Eliza’s and watching Alexander burn that marriage to the ground would make all that sacrifice worthless. She spent her whole life wanting him, but she never once pursued him. She wanted him because met him first and liked him. She instantly set her feelings aside once Eliza said she wanted him. From that moment on she watched from the shadows. She could have had an affair with Hamilton, but she didn’t because she loves Eliza more than she will ever love him. She could have taken advantage of the fact that he cheated, and been with him, but she didn’t. She stood right by Eliza like she has always done.
The one thing I didn't like about Lin's Hamilton was that they portrayed Angelica to be a martyr and sacrificed her love for Alexander for her sister's happiness. Yes it's a good move for drama but now some people thought it as a testament of what happened and say that Eliza only got him because of her and it pisses me off. In reality, Angelica didn't have to marry a rich man, she chose John Barker Church. Their father refused to give them his blessing so they ran away to get married. Out of all the sisters, only Eliza didn't elope. The letters Ham and Angelica were indeed flirty but Eliza knew about them and she's also present as he writes the letters.
Based on the play; Angelica and Hamilton refered to each other like brother and sister as seen in take a break. She had a crush on Hamilton but I think by this song she had gotten over it and it was an 'I liked you and you betrayed me' thing. Eliza also knew about the letters and didn't have a problem with them because the only times they flirted was a joke. Angelica was not a scumbag because she was a loyal sister
I completely disagree with the comments, part of growing up is accepting that Angelica was acting wrong too. she knew how Alexander was (even in satisfaction she mentions it) and when she received letters from her she never did anything to stop him, on the contrary she played along with him. she never did anything to stop loving Alexander, not even thinking about her husband and her children.

Angelica understood why she had to let Alexander go, she was bound by duty and family legacy as well stated in 'Satisfied'. I agree that she shouldn't have longed and loved Alexander her whole life but I can understand why she did. I don't think she feels better than Alexander but her stance on sisterly love is stronger than her feelings for Alexander, which says a lot! I'd do the same thing for my sister, it's a real strong sisterly love. I'd silence myself and sacrifice like Angelica if it meant her being happy. Here is how I look at marriages in the past.. there wasn't that much love anyway. A fixed marriage in order to combine wealth is not love. You can't force yourself to love someone you didn't fall for.
Real-life Angelica actually ran off and eloped with her husband (as did Peggy), so you'd have to assume that her marriage to her husband was her own choice. Eliza was the only one of the sisters who actually did not elope. Hamilton was an orphan, born to his mother (she left her first husband to be with Alexander's father) and father out of wedlock, with no money to his name. While Alexander and Eliza eventually fell in love, you have tobe aware that he was also marrying someone who was way above his station (because Philip Schuyler was rich).

I mean, Angelica's anger expressed at Alex is a cover for her own self-blame, which some would say is misplaced, as she was only having at most an intellectual affair instead of Maria's sexual affair with Alex, and while I personally feel that romantic or intimate infidelity is a worse betrayal than a sexual affair, at this point, she cannot hold that blame over herself, and it's petty and stupid for history to hold that over her and allow it to taint how history views her, and we as modern people cannot "cast the first stone," as the Christian phrase goes.

I think I read this interview in an article a while back when Hamilton was getting famous that Lin said in a way Hamilton’s love of his life was Eliza, but Angelica was in a way his soulmate, because they were both so similar and also were true intellectuals. I’d also have to argue that John Laurent’s was in the same position as Angelica where Hamilton had a great deep love and respect for him. Angelica and Hams letters were never in no way sexual or wrong they mostly discussed politics but Lin said that their letters portray the chemistry they had for each other based on how passionate they were when it came to politics. As for Hams and Johns letters, I don’t want to say they were sexual but many people believed they were questionable. Although many historians have gotten rid of most of their letters or have tampered with them over the years, the ones that do remain do show their love for each other as great friends but also elude to something more than that. Eliza had Hams heart and Angelica had his soul, and John had his mind 🤷♀️ but that’s just my opinion.

Angelica actually blamed herself. Yes, she gave up her happiness for Eliza, but it was because she had given up her happiness that Eliza was now as hurt as she is. She blames herself for that, for indirectly hurting her sister so badly.

I mean I get where your coming from with the Angelica thing but what else was she supposed to do? She can’t control her feelings for Alexander and she never acted on them. She explained in satisfied why she couldn’t be with him both for social reasons and to spare Eliza from the heartbreak that Angelica herself had to feel by letting Alexander go. She sacrificed her own happiness for Eliza’s and watching Alexander burn that marriage to the ground would make all that sacrifice worthless. It was about her sacrificing everything for Eliza and Alexander sacrificing Eliza for his career.
The situation is strange and that's why the song was taken out of the musical leaving a small part at fast speed in "The Reynolds Pamphlet".

So it was obvious that Eliza wasn't fond of the things happening behind her back between Alex and Angelica. It's true that Angelica is kind and selfless, but it doesn't take away the fact that she gives consent to Alexander to write her letters because she tells Alex that "Alex is better than her husband" (seen in "Non-stop") and that she lives off of reading Alex's letters. ANGELICA IS INDEED STILL MESSED UP DESPITE LOVING HER SISTER.

She spent her whole life wanting him, but she never once pursued him. She wanted him because met him first and liked him. She instantly set her feelings aside once Eliza said she wanted him. From that moment on she watched from the shadows. She could have had an affair with Hamilton, but she didn’t because she loves Eliza more than she will ever love him. She could have taken advantage of the fact that he cheated, and been with him, but she didn’t. She stood right by Eliza like she has always done.

The one thing I didn't like about Lin's Hamilton was that they portrayed Angelica to be a martyr and sacrificed her love for Alexander for her sister's happiness. Yes it's a good move for drama but now some people thought it as a testament of what happened and say that Eliza only got him because of her and it pisses me off.
In reality, Angelica didn't have to marry a rich man, she chose John Barker Church. Their father refused to give them his blessing so they ran away to get married. Out of all the sisters, only Eliza didn't elope. The letters Ham and Angelica were indeed flirty but Eliza knew about them and she's also present as he writes the letters.
Based on the play; Angelica and Hamilton refered to each other like brother and sister as seen in take a break. She had a crush on Hamilton but I think by this song she had gotten over it and it was an 'I liked you and you betrayed me' thing. Eliza also knew about the letters and didn't have a problem with them because the only times they flirted was a joke. Angelica was not a scumbag because she was a loyal sister

I completely disagree with the comments, part of growing up is accepting that Angelica was acting wrong too. she knew how Alexander was (even in satisfaction she mentions it) and when she received letters from her she never did anything to stop him, on the contrary she played along with him. she never did anything to stop loving Alexander, not even thinking about her husband and her children.

Angelica understood why she had to let Alexander go, she was bound by duty and family legacy as well stated in 'Satisfied'. I agree that she shouldn't have longed and loved Alexander her whole life but I can understand why she did. I don't think she feels better than Alexander but her stance on sisterly love is stronger than her feelings for Alexander, which says a lot! I'd do the same thing for my sister, it's a real strong sisterly love. I'd silence myself and sacrifice like Angelica if it meant her being happy. I think older sisters can really understand wanting the best for their younger sisters.

Here is how I look at marriages in the past.. there wasn't that much love anyway. A fixed marriage in order to combine wealth is not love. You can't force yourself to love someone you didn't fall for.
Real-life Angelica actually ran off and eloped with her husband (as did Peggy), so you'd have to assume that her marriage to her husband was her own choice.
Eliza was the only one of the sisters who actually did not elope. Hamilton was an orphan, born to his mother (she left her first husband to be with Alexander's father) and father out of wedlock, with no money to his name. While Alexander and Eliza eventually fell in love, you have tobe aware that he was also marrying someone who was way above his station (because Philip Schuyler was rich).

I mean, Angelica's anger expressed at Alex is a cover for her own self-blame, which some would say is misplaced, as she was only having at most an intellectual affair instead of Maria's sexual affair with Alex, and while I personally feel that romantic or intimate infidelity is a worse betrayal than a sexual affair, at this point, she cannot hold that blame over herself, and it's petty and stupid for history to hold that over her and allow it to taint how history views her, and we as modern people cannot "cast the first stone," as the Christian phrase goes.
