Great review! The Lenovo Clock 2 looks interesting and I am wondering how fast of a wireless charger was placed on the docking station, is it a 5W or 10W Qi wireless charger?
I watched this video while in a shop in Spain. The Lenovo Smart Clock 2 was in front of me. But by the end of the video I still didn't really know what the clock is capable of doing. So I walked away.
"Lenovo Smart Clock 2 with GOOGLE assistant" Besides what's wrong with Google storing your voice for voice recognition? It's not like they're selling that data to third party companies. They're using it to provide the best services. You oh night as well throw away your phone and delete your RUclips account cuz that's owned by Google as well
I so wanted this kit to work but it has a serious flaw, at least many people including myself, have reported issues with repeat alarm settings not playing correctly. The flaw with a fundamental aspect of alarm clock functionality makes it unfit for purpose.
More like a Smart Alarm Clock. I have a few basic back in the day Radio Alarm clocks that I have not used in ages, but they do come in handy from time to time. I would prefer a basic Smart Alarm Clock, one is is not hooked up to the World Wide Web. Anyway, as usual super cool review, bring back some Alarm waking up memories while hitting the snooze button every 5 to 10 minutes before finally waking up, jeje! 😺👌👩🏫⭐️💎
This video sounds more like an advertisement than a hands-on review, it's like they just read off the provided reviewers guide Lenovo provided. Should include "contains paid promotion" disclaimer.
I bought on sale without the wireless dock for $25. For that price it was a great deal with the included smart light bulb, but it would be a ripoff for $80. Too limited in functionality for that price.
@trihard wow I didn't know wireless chargers were that much......but that doesn't really change how I feel about the regular price of this clock. Too much money for how limited it is. It feels like they have purposely restricted its features. It should be capable of much more.
i have the original. yup it just blends in your room nothing really interesting just a alarm clock with music and can stream google photo. and thats it. I also use the usb a for my smart watch charger. its really simple. I really like this newer version because I have a separate wireless charger. with this I can get rid of the separate wireless charger.
@@sgodsellify yeahh but control is pretty vague. Yes I can say OK google. but thats it. I also have this Room Light button but it only turns off everything or turns on everything. There is no really Google Home App like in the screen. where I can just press what I want to control
can you tell me if in this version 2, setting the night mode in google home app with a lower brightness level actually works? in my version 1 it does not lower the brightness. thank you in advance
We have the original version as well and to set auto brightness, it's directly on the clock. Swipe bottom-to-top and you'll see a brightness 'sun' symbol in the bottom left. Tap this and you'll see a slider for adjusting brightness between 1-10. What you need to do for auto brightness adjustment is simply tap the sun symbol again so it shows an 'A' within it and says "Automatic brightness on/off" on the device's screen.
I can’t work out the difference between this thing and my smartphone - smartphone has alarm, reminders, music, light (just touch the screen). So ??????
I'd rather go with the 7" Lenovo smart display at half the price which includes a camera that can be switched off The only handy thing on this is the phone charger but realistically, is it worth paying the extra money for something that is really just a gimmick?

Having a wireless pad for your phone for something that's meant to be for your bedside is a good idea! I just cannot, however, why we would want this device when we can have our phones do the very thing?
Wrong, a smartphone doesn't have any far field microphones. This smart clock (2) is designed for voice in mind. Plus its real easy to control smart home devices as well with your voice, or use the touch screen interface. It much easier than using any smart phone. Not to mention there is lots of games and other voice app that you can run using your voice these days as well.
And the speaker is much better than your phone if you want music in your room. But the alarm function on this clock is seriously flawed which for me makes it unfit for purpose.
Well, why buy a smart watch when a phone can d the same thing? Why buy smart lights that u can control with ur voice, when normal lights can be controlled by the switch? Why buy a PC or a laptop when u can do the same stuff from a phone? Why buy a tv when you can watch the same things on ur phone?
lenovo is annoying for not selling the dock separately. you either get the clock by itself, or you have the buy the clock+dock together. why wouldn't they sell it separately? no idea. dumb marketing.
plus if you get the original, It has a USB A built into it, to get that feature with the new one you need the optional wireless base. so here in Australia it's $99 for just smart clock 2 or $129 packaged with wireless base and orginal is $70. If the usb a was built in to the 2nd gen, then for $99 I'd say - fair deal. But I don't need a wireless charger, I have a multicoil 15a one that I prefer. They nearly had me, but I really don't even need the speaker upgrade as it only used for alarm tones and google feedback and low volume radio as I wake up. The original is such a good thing and purposesly restricted (I like that). I won't be upgrading, but if you have nothing smart next to you, the whole setup to get you a smart clock and wireless charging next to your bed to clean up all the wire and old clock - then for $130 it's awesome and while a 7" google home is only $99 here. It's the small foot print and deliberate restriction of capabilities that make the smart clock a better pick for next to the bed.
This they make it almost perfect nothing worse then 2 devices on youre nightstand...I have a Archos hello 5 and it has a qi charger on top, but it's so small that's its useless, I want this always....but now they make another mistake that you can't youtube and neflix on it.....🤨a shame, still a nice solution.....but it should have full google home thing And a big rgb light under the phone so you see if you hit the spot would be nice
I don’t understand why companies do this, step backwards in my opinion. The amount of people that want a smart clock + wireless charger will be way less then just a stand alone smart clock and stand alone wireless charger.
You don't have to use the wireless charging dock. Its included in the box, but you don't have to use it at all, if you or anyone else doesn't want to. Its optional.
I wonder if there's any difference at all except a wireless charging add on that you can just buy a loose and better one anyway. I got the Xiaomi Smart Clock since it was roumored to have video casting ability. Well - surprise! - it does not. Some apps allow you to cast the audio but no video - hey those apps allow you to cast the audio part to a Home Mini too! So really the Xiaomi Smart Clock and the Lenovo Smart Clock are for all practical purposes 100% identical except the Lenovo has a USB port for charging your phone - or connect to a third party Qi charger so you don't have to buy the new one! It's clearly the same software without any other modifications than boot up logo and they report statistics to Lenovo and Xiaomi respectively. Huge disappointment. May buy the Smart Clock 2 if it finally gets video streaming and the other don't Would be perfect for a small screen to cast TV to when working in the home office by your computer. The Nest Hub is just a tad too large for that.
@Yamilt A. technically you can have no burn if you do clever tricks like shifting image on screen. Like samsung always on display like feature. how long you going to use this device ? max 2 -3 years. I had v1 and i dont like cloudy screen it has at night. I would like to see device which can be set to very low intensity rather than turning off display.

I hate this channel. "You can turn the light on by lifting it out of the base." No No you can't. That only notifies you that the main unit is connected with the pad.
No smart phone has far field microphones or loud speakers. So trying to talk to your phone even from 3 feet away from you, can still fail. Where as these smart clocks, come with far field microphones, which are designed to be heard from far distances, or even up close. Plus the Google Voice assistant is simply the best on the market.
