I used to wrack my brain over which kind of minimalist I was. A lot of it had so do with dissociating myself from The Minimalists, who trigger me and absolutely rub me the wrong way. I've tried elegant minimalist, then D5 minimalist (dematerialized decarbonated debonair decorous and deluxe), or maybe C4 minimalist (compact, comely, curated, and convenient), or perhaps C5 (comfy). But just "minimalist" seems to be enough. How ironic. :)
It's interesting to consider the way minimalism and frugality are connected. Your explanations help me to carry on with my decluttering because I can more clearly see my own definition of what's important. I like nice things, I like a bargain, I'm decluttering. I guess I'm somewhere in the middle of the two ideas.
I practice minimalism but not with clothing even though I do downsize clothes when needed. I like to practice frugality but tend to spend more than I care to, which causes me emotional stress. I record all purchases and monies into a monthly paper ledger. Halfway through the month I add up how much I’ve spent so I can adjust for the other half of the month. If I use something in the home I be sure to put it back, do Home stays tidy.
I am an aspiring frugal minimalist! 😊
Good for you! Let me know how I can help you get there!

Wow, I didn't even know there were subcategories of minimalism! Now I have even more research to do! Lol.
My why for minimalism is to reduce my daily to do list.
That's and excellent reason! We all need more time to do what want instead of what we feel we have to do.

And that's an absolutely perfect place to be! Carry on doing what's best for you!
