He was in The Sarah Jane Adventures series 2 finale 'Enemy of the Bane', but yes would have been amazing to have him turn up in the main show. He was written into the series 4 Sontaran two parter and finale but Nick Courtney couldn't film it due to health issues I believe.
Everything about that clip is perfect, the voice actors the dialogue the music, feel like I’m watching Nicolas Courtney and Christopher Eccleston, probably the last time canonically the doctor meets the brig
Thanks! There's nothing stopping the 10th Doctor from meeting the Brig, which I hope Big Finish give us one day, though this would have been a fitting final hurrah for the Doctor's encounters with him.
@@doctorwhorescored3151 Even the Eleventh Doctor could see The Brig again, they'd just have to make sure they set it before the end of series 6. Which is easy, considering just how much time The Doctor spent between Christmas Carol and the start of 6 when he shows up in the diner, clueless about why he's there. Also spent a lot of time putting off his own death before he called The Brig and found out he'd passed away. I sometimes think Moffat was purposely putting massive gaps in 11's story (hundreds of years at times) just so Big Finish would one day have more space to work with than usual. @@doctorwhorescored3151 I'd argue that would go against TV canon, which is tantamount to law. @mikebliss3153 It would certainly make 11's reaction all the more emotional, though bare in mind that the Doctors live a lot longer than what we see on TV, so a meeting between 10 and the Brig could still work as there could still be a massive gap in their life up to that point.

Guys, I have to say something: in regards to Eccleston’s performance, in all fairness, he had been out of the role for nearly 20 years and he’s probably getting used to it, hence why he sounds a bit flat here. Also, Nine doesn’t have the best social skills compared to Eight. I mean, being in war for many years can do something to you.
I suppose it’s because this was among that first series of audios Eccleston recorded, so he was still getting used to working in the audio format. And this was also recorded remotely as a result of Covid, so Eccleston and Culshaw were not in the same room as each other. But in any case, this still sounds fine to me. The Brigadier and the Doctor have never really been ones to open up and talk about their feelings, the 9th Doctor even less so, so them being a bit awkward is in keeping with that. In fact, the story even highlights this, as the whole reason the Doctor is visiting the Brigadier here is because he had just attended a funeral and realised that time was short, so he didn’t want to leave anything unsaid between them.
That’s not really Eccleston, is it? It sounds off. John Culshaw is brilliant as the Brig, though. I could swear it’s like they brought Nicholas Courtney back!
You haven't heard he signed a massive deal with Big Finish to come back? And Of course he is gonna sound a bit off when he hasn't played the character in 17 years and only had one series to work with
@@rammy3879everyone said the same about Tennant sounding abit different when he returned as the 14th doctor but many reckon he did it on purpose to show that the 2nd incarnation of him was wiser, more sensitive and more human with his emotions. I felt that for an older Brig, it really needed some extra suspension of disbelief. If the part doesn't do it for you then fair enough, I personally think Culshaw sounds uncanny as the Brig in most releases.
@@doctorwhorescored3151 I suppose I should watch more clips of him doing the Brig's voice but in this clip all I can hear is Jon Culshaw doing a posh version of himself
No pause in between dialogue delivery makes this sound so unnatural and fake. Never listened to anything Big Finish before so maybe this is how they all sound but ugh.
Audio drama is a dialogue heavy - nay, a dialogue reliant - medium, you can’t really afford to have dead air on a disc. It’s just one of those inherent differences you get used to. Like how stage acting is different to film acting.
I actually think he's great in this, but in The Annihilators he really does just sound like John Culshaw. He's a better impressionist than actor, and he's absolutely spot on with maneurisms and people's speech patterns. Some of the voices themselves are better than others though.
I really wish the Brig had appeared in the modern series - he's the only major part of the classic series that never turned up
