I'm always amazed when an artist manage to use those three chords (wich have been used a zillion times) in an interesting way and make a good and fresh sounding song with that
I praise the Bejar since 2009, tried to introduce him to a friend who loves music almost as Much as me. He didn't like it. I was shocked. We're no longer Friend anyway (not related).
A couple years ago, he opened for Azure Ray here in Omaha at a charity event for the Bemis Art Center. I think tickets for the fund raiser was $25. It was in an old warehouse where people were still arriving, and he was playing on a small elevated stage. Everyone was at the back, ordering drinks, and they had no idea who this guy was. Me and my friend Jonny are huge Destroyer fans, and we (along with around 25 others) were right up at the small stage. He played for 45 minutes. It was just him and an acoustic guitar that was plugged into an amp. It was one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen, and it was surreal, because it felt like he was playing in your living room. It was like a dream, where one of your favorite artists plays for you and a small group of friends.
Downright an electronic tune and I love saying that this song blew my mind. I'm fond of the initial part as it covers millions techniques of dance music. I don't know anything about this artist, so I'm not able to write a decent comment. The matter is that his voice is just at ease, thorough in the continuation and peaceful, it grabs your attention. It apparently draws influence from the masterpieces of the '80s and it reminds me of Depeche Mode
I rate him highly as do many others, in what way and by whom must he be rated for him not to be underrated? I feel like this statement is meaningless as I find it on everything single artists' videos on youtube...or perhaps its memelords...
Give the world your mind on music. God Bless you Destroyer. You are my new favorite Musician. I am 60. Keep up the good Work...your Band is so F-ing Good.

Just got the full Album, let me just say, DAN, you fucking rule dude, stop. So much fire on this record, University Hill, ok I see you playa? THE RAVEN? I hope you lay that live when you get to Toronto because even though that album is less than 24 hours old, I've been playing that song nonstop weaving it into the very fabric of my being. As a long time fan, I gotta say, this one is hiiiiigh on my list of favorite records in your discography. ken was a bit more subdued, especially after Poison Season, but this record is like...I don't know my mans is back yo, my mans is DRUNK ON THE FIELD AGAIIIIIIIN!!!!!! It's a thing of pure beauty, bless you for dropping it at the top of the year so I have a soundtrack for this year's inevitable miseries.
This is spot on - the right music for right now. The video perfectly suits the track. Destroyer should blow up soon. I'm rarely wrong about this kind of thing.
It's a testament to your music, joy is found in every song regardless of intent and lyrical content. So, it's safe to say you're a master of the craft. Thanks and wish you well.
This song is really really really good. The songwriting, instrumentation, and lyrics are as good as it gets, by modern or historic standards. If Destroyer's songs were all of this length and format, Bejar would have a better chance of being a household name. His average song is very long though, and sadly that's not encouraged in today's mainstream music.
@@FirstNameLastName-kt3zn Really like Tinseltown Swimming in Blood. It should be the theme song for Crazy Days and Nights. www.crazydaysandnights.net/?m=1
Canada's 'private' broadcasters? Apparently it's code for commercial stations. I don't hear any of those rotten stations in Vancouver playing your music. The ones playing it are non-commercial, independent media stations like CiTR, Co-op & CJSF.
An open letter to everyone who knows me: 2:36 is now my morning walk to the bathroom. No explanation or apologies will be offered. Figure it out or don't, you fucking pit ponies.
@@YoungHeartsSparkFire I thought so too, but was just there and while it looks similar, it's not Habitat 67. Also, the rest of the video is clearly shot in the Vancouver area, so wonder if this is a Vancouver building.

I just want to take the time and appreciate the crazy choreography the dancers did here.

Dan Bejar’s voice is itself a music genre
I'm always amazed when an artist manage to use those three chords (wich have been used a zillion times) in an interesting way and make a good and fresh sounding song with that
Dan Bejar is easily up there with the likes of Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, etc... The man just doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
I honestly don't understand why.
all those people are boring af
Dan bejar has big dick energy
He will get his due, but like 20 years from now.

dan seems at his lyrical best (and most cutthroat) when thrashing the music industry and the state of music in general. dude can spit some venom

can't imagine the song without the video somehow they both work so well together

Great song! But the question in the lyrics remains open. Where is the root of that shit: Europe or America?
