They had balls to put this song as the 2nd single, of probably the most anticipated album of 1999. This videoclip was one of the most expensive ones ever. One of the most experimental song of the mainstream music, I love it. For example 99% of songs has the "clap" on beat 2 and 4, but here the clap is unpredictable and catchy. Also mixing house music with samba, indian music and Didgeridoo is crazy. The song has no chords in a traditional way, just a bassline and a simple melody : Everything here is about the rhythm, the dynamic, and the weird choice of instruments.
The whole song just blows my mind, but the part where samba begins just gives my eardrums an undescribable ecstasy!!! Brilliant sound and video altogether. Still one of my fave vids ever!!!
Not ahead of the time. Not only was this sound a popular one in electronic music, the way Jamiroquai does it hasn't even been replicated. Can't be ahead of it's time if it's in its own and hasn't been contested or replicated
Loving the didgeridoo! I remember seeing Jamiroquo play in my hometown of Sydney, Australia 16 years ago, he had a beautiful Aboriginal man play the part live... it kicked ass and everyone went crazy!!!
@@colninja1570 Jay has said that they kinda made it a little about weed after the song was made IE for the video.. It was more about where he was in life. BUT who give a shit cus weed is not drugs.

Jay Kay ,what an iconic man!!! His way of dancing is something amazing, the sound of that didgeridoo is hypnotic... the song is fantastic. Thumbs up at a supersonic speed!!! 👍🏻👍🏻🎶🎵🎶❤️❤️❤️🇮🇹🙋🏻♀️
When i first heard this track on the radio there were some interferences and i didn't even understand the music, later i lsaw it on TV : a masterpiece of music and video....fantastic inspiration..
Imagine if this got remastered like with what he did with Virtual Insanity. I want to see Jamiroquai do more remasters of their music videos, especially of their older ones, like Light Years, Little L, Runaway, King for a Day, Canned Heat, Cosmic Girl, and Space Cowboy.
For those who can't figure out how the video was made; Each person is recorded separately (with green background), and they move at half speed. Then each person is put together and their moves are accelerated at double speed. (that's how the "freeze" moves are done)
Lucas Domanico, must be a electronic and synchronized crane or dolly because I thought the same, but, how the move so perfect together? If the camera goes left, they all go right. Maybe they were recorded together, makes more sense to me.
This has got to be one of the most contemporary songs ever played on MTV back in the day. It follows no genre of pop.... still they dared to release it as a single.
I remember buying this as a single first because I simply couldn't wait 'till the album came out xD Then playing it on repeat everywhere 'till everyone else's ears bled. Some people in my life didn't like the song - which in turn became a very easy way to distinguish between those with taste and vision and those without :) Thank you, Jamiroquai!
I've been looking for this song and video for eleven years. I once saw it one night I disobeyed my parents to go to sleep and since then I always wondered and time to time I searched and asked for it, no one knew it. DAMN IT FEELS GOOD
The shot of Wallis coming into frame with the didgeridoo at 1:31 is otherworldly. It sounds amazing with the music, then you see it, and it hits you again Anyone else agree?
@@FreemanBBFQyupppp like the shot at 1:20. It’s like Jay Kay went “be right back. Have to pick up a friend”, and within ten seconds you see Wallis come into frame 😎

Iskander67 agree. But. There is a steady snare on 2 and 4. :). And the handclap is all over the place.
Yeah!still got the chills of this 🤯😜👌
Most expensive my ass. Do you know Madona had the most expensive. She break everything in that video. Good luck finding it.

Exactly. This song is relatively near the time I bought a new sound system for my car
and subsequently broke it on my way back home
best music all the time
The band still has the best baseline.
2020 and this song still sounds fresh !

Futuristic and yet there's something very primal in this.
