This video inspired me to run out and get moulds and paperclay. I tried them last night, and found that kneading a bit of flour into the mould (like dough) helped to dry the clay and make it easier to press and remove. I pulled them out immediately after I press them in, and no residue was left behind in the mould. Corn starch would have been preferable, but I didn’t have any on hand.
Thank You So Much Tiffany, I really really enjoyed watching you create these amazing and stunning embellishments from those moulds. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Great video! Also, I find turning the mold over and releasing it from the piece instead of trying to release the piece from the mold helps. There's less flexing of the molded piece that happens because you push it against a hard, flat surface as you flex the mold up and away from it. Thanks for sharing! 😊
I love the IOD moulds! You showed one I really loved and which I don't have so have just gone and ordered it... you're an enabler! :) Thanks for sharing, love your videos
So glad I stumbled across your video! Been having issues getting the clay out of the molds w/o breakage. Using the same clay & cornstarch but the more intricate pieces break so easily. Thxs for your suggestions!
Thank you so much for your video. Earlier today I was looking on Amazon for clay and molds. I want to redo an old dresser. Now I have a better idea on how this works.
I went right after the video and got the paperclay...mind you no IOD moulds But I have the cake decorating moulds and today I am gonna try this instead of the caulk. I love your work and hope this will work for me. Thanks for sharing and showing !!
I am pretty sure the cake molds are very similar. The IOD moulds you can use for cake decorating too so I think you should be fine. Thank you so much! Big hugs and be sure to let me know how it goes!

Great video and putting it together. I've dabbled in the clay once. It ended up drying up, on account of not properly wrapping it up. And simply using it. And to quit being lazy. I don't have any excuse s now , so maybe I'll give it a go again.

Hi Tiffany. Lol just randomly watching some of your older videos. Question, what can you do with these molds once done. ?? I’m stuck there. Any suggestions on videos that can bring a spark of inspiration? Thank you ❤
I used them for altered projects. If you watch my older videos you will see a lot of them in use. I don't use them really at all now though. It is hard to say which videos as I don't have a playlist but you can search my channel for altered and a lot of them will come up. I hope that helps. Happy New Year!
@@Tiffany.Solorio I did end up trying it, and it works with corn starch, without it, it’s too sticky. I prefer the IOD clay but it’s more expensive! So I will grab horsey clay for most projects! Thanks!
How long did you allow the wet paper clay to stay in the mold before removing it????? You never said how long you let it stay in the mold after you put it in it.
I’ve done that, and for some projects it works, for others I’ve learned it is better to put it on my project before it dries so it doesn’t “ warp” a little? I’m very new at this… maybe I’m doing something wrong!
I have to wait because I can’t get them out of my molds or I just throw it in the oven for about four minutes on 175 and it pops right out without breaking
What I do if I want a piece to be flat is lay something on top. Not too heavy and then about 12 hours later I will flip it over and continue the process until its dry. I have a bin where I keep all of my resin and clay pieces. I don't mind them a bit bent but if you need a piece 100% flat I would suggest resin. I hope this helps. Thanks so much!

You could use a furniture safe glue. I honestly am unsure what that might be. If you follow iron orchid designs on Facebook or Instagram I am sure they can help you way better then I can. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Thanks so much for watching!
Have you tried pulling/sawing taut dental floss across the top of the mold to separate the excess clay? I will try it myself as soon as my molds are delivered but it has been months now and still waiting.
