Cool! Here in Aotearoa/ New Zealand we call ourselves by our tribes, & collectively as Māori. “Māori” actually means ‘normal’
Lol - that's awesome.
I love when you dig into the meaning of endonyms and it turns out it just means "people" or "regular" and then they have more descriptive names for other groups. Like how (iirc) "Cherokee" in Cherokee means "the principal people" but the Iroquois name for them means "people who live where there are many caves".
Hey! Kia ora whanau!
Thank you for sharing!!💖
Wow, i love how Inuit just means PEOPLE! what an amazing people ❤️❤️❤️
Both the word Germans use for themselves (Deutsch) and the English word for the Dutch, come from a old Germanic word that also meant people, so I wouldn't be surprised if many more ethnicities/nationalities have etymologies like that.
@@KarlSnarks I came here to say the same, you were faster! I am pretty sure I knew some other examples where natives called themself people in their native language, but besides the most known examples you named I cannot list anything on the spot. I think some googling may even reveal than most groups / tribes / ethnicities call themselves just people, someone should've already done some research on that.
In case you didnt know ever indigenous name for who they are means the same thing 😂. I am Ndé which means “the people”.
The Navajo word for Navajo people is Diné. It means people too. Did you know that the Indonesian word for people is "Orang" so, Americans are "Orang American" . And the word Orangutan means "the forest people" naturally, we are all "people".
Roma people also means people people 🤭
🇨🇦 As a Canadian, I really appreciate Functional clothes for the cold!
Her kiddos are the models used in the brand's site. Go take a look for yourself. ❤
Qupanuk is living her best life ever and I'm hear for it! I get to experience Greenland without even being there 😊💚
okay but are we not gonna talk about how Q slayed that modeling pose for the brand??
Q this has easily become my favourite Shorts Channel. Much love from Aotearoa New Zealand
Love the inclusivity. It is much appriciated. In the end we are all inuit (people) ❤
the lgbt is not appreciated by anyone
@@2b2c1d2 it is by me
@@2b2c1d2that's objectively incorrect. There are many "anyones" in this comment section that appreciate people loving whoever they love without interference. You do not have to...just leave people alone then.
@@2b2c1d2stick to you lame keyboard hobby and stay mad ❤️
@@2b2c1d2you must live a life of sadness if you go about thinking like this… ☹️☹️☹️
I once read that some indigenous tribes in North America have always had representations of gender outside the binary. I wonder if it's the same for the Inuit of Greenland? I think it's so cool, and goes a long way in demonstrating that prejudice and close mindedness are learned.
I've been asking our old people for decades of what you speak and possible words. But within most indigenous language, the word for him or her is usually the same word. Within my indigenous language the word for him and her are the same word, wiya. I think this in itself is a reflection of the indigenous value system of the Americas. How we define ourselves as human beings goes much deeper than being a he...or being a she.
Just when you think you love her enough, she says something like “it doesn’t always have to be woman and man, can be…”
And you go OMG how much more can i love this lady!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤦♂️
But It kinda has to be for life to continue. With out woman and man life would cease for human kind...
@@adrienne7374 yea noone is saying straight people dont exist their saying there "can be" other things than that.
@adrienne7374 which is why she didn't say "always should be a man and a man or woman and woman" she says "it can be" - which is true. It can be. Trust me, straight people aren't going anywhere. New humans aren't going anywhere because LGBTQ+ humans are more accepted in society.
@@adrienne7374That looks more like outdoor wear than boudoir.
Yes life is amazing and so are you! Thank you for sharing your beautiful personality with us all! We are lucky to have you!
Q has me in love with Greenland.❤❤❤❤
The inclusivity made me feel so seen and loved. Especially after this year where I experienced so much hate for just existing. Love this video
Some of us, straight people, have a heart. Feel yourself hugged and accepted!
as a straight white real women… same 😂
but in all seriousness, it’s not fair to call people hateful for choosing to live in reality.
Are you 5?
I mean wth lmao
@@bonjourbanksright?! Trans and queer (aka non binary) is complete fiction.
You’ll never change your sex and that’s how it’s meant to be. Just be gender non conforming instead of trying to be something you aren’t.
@@weenieboy_ why? Do you need some friends to play? Go back to kindergarten. Or your mom's basement.
I absolutely love your videos. They make me smile and I love learning more about your culture and locale. ❤️😊
Wow ! I love the clothing! Now I know where my winter jacket is coming from ❤
Gorgeous land, people, language and culture. Q, thank you so much for sharing all of this from Greenland!
No idea why but makes me happy to hear the thing you say at the end also the it can also be woman and woman😊 i kinda wanna visit😌
Everybody wants Q's endorsement👍
one of th best n most inclusive videos u have shared about the north
Did a research paper on Inuit beginnings a few years ago. Great culture for sure
That makes colonialism so easy, doesn't it?
LOVE.THIS 👑 👑 👑 ❤❤❤❤❤❤ this brought happy tears to my eyes!! ❤❤
Interestingly the Navajo in Arizona call themselves Diné -- also meaning the people! The word supposedly came from Athabascan, spoken by people as far north as Canada and Alaska. I guess the world is smaller than we think. 😄😀😃
German word they use to name themselves (Deutsch) comes also from old Germanic word for people. Surely many groups / ethnicities named themselves like that, just people in own native language!
Love this 💜 so is calling them Inuit people kind of like saying chai tea 🤔
We love your videos! Watching from Cincinnati, Ohio USA!
We all have much love for you guys ❤❤❤❤ I personally love inuit people, their history and culture ❤❤❤❤ so close to God 😊 imo of course ❤️
Such attractive people! And that brand looks so cool. Im going to check it out
You are amazing. ❤ I wish to visit your wonderful country one day. Your videos warm my heart, thank you.
Ok as a Canadian mom, those baby snowsuits behind you look AMAZING. Running to the site, literally just for those lol.
Ooh, I would definitely have liked to buy some Inuit brand clothing, sadly its not available in the UK. Q is so fluent that it's adorable to hear her say, " their mission is to create closes." 😊 I'm truly learning so much from this extremely charming teacher .
Love the inclusiveness 🩷🩷🩷
Wait wait wait... so saying Inuit People is like saying People People? I love knowing these reiterated phrases! Like "Chai tea is Tea tea" ❤❤ Thank you for sharing beautiful Greenland with us Q!
Enjoying your videos. I learned a lot more about Greenland. I didn't know anything about your country.
In the news in Belgium is now that it is not a good idea to visit Greenland with cruiseschip. Maybe you can make a video about your thoughts about that. I was thinking to visit in the Future with cruiseship. But maybe by plain is better.
Q I love watching ya'll ❤😊🎉
Thank you for teaching me something new today. Now I know what Inuit means, and I really like it. And I also love the inclusivity of the brand!
So Inuit people is the new chai tea: JUST SAY CHAI
you guys are SOOO COOL, I LOVE THAT THEIR BRAND IS SO EXCEPTING, Also the traditional bun, that is Also a tradional style in Micronesia, and these people have a likeness to Inuit People, but shorter stature
I love the inclusivity!!!
I wonder how inuits developed their own language. It’s just fascinating how people just walked their way and settled in different places, and made their own language. I guess I have some research to do now!!
How did the English make their own language?
Love seeing this traditional image being slightly updated for more inclusivity! And I need to know more about those tights they wore in the snow!!
❤❤❤
Me parece que la sociedad de Groenlandia es muy equitativa y hombres y mujeres participan de la economía por igual ❤
The tradititional bun of the women, the hair on top, is like my hairdo🤷🏾♀️
The're was Nas Daily, I saw is video and btw Greenland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Canada and Switzerland are my favorite countries!
In Inuit we are all Inuit 🤯🥰
Time to go shopping.
What is the audio you use in the background of these videos? It's so fun and joyful and I feel like I should recognize it but can't quite put my finger on it...
There are many ethnic words in other languages that just mean "people". Diné, Türk, Han, Inuit...and i have forgotten which others.
This makes me love you all so much more! 💯❤️
People means People in the People language....what an great tongue twister.
Me encanta el significado de inuit y la marca que no solo tiene que ser un hombre y una mujer ❤🌈voy a buscarla
♡♡♡
My name was my Great Grandmother's except my mother made her middle name my first and her first my middle.. She was born and raised in Denmark.
These videos make me wanna visit Greenland so much
Absolutely love the inclusion. My gay heart is screaming 🏳️🌈
And where are the materials from? Absolutely no mention of it on the website. They could easily be from india or china and partly assembled in greenland only (this is what most brands do to pretend they are local...).
That's awesome!!
you are so sweet and shawty in the red is soooo pretty
I bet their coats are warmer than average❄
Except they're used to the cold so i'm not sure on that one.
I'm curious : Is the Greenlandic Inuit language identical to the Inuit language in Canada ?
Not identical, but you could reasonably speak the Greenlandic dialect across most of Canada and be understood, with a few differences here and there. I think once you hit Alaska is where the differences start to become difficult to understand.
@@Reed9277 Interesting ! Thank you. Do the Inuit in both countries consider themselves one people or 2 distinct peoples with cultural similarities ?
@@gabithemagyar You’re welcome! And ah, I wish I could answer that; I’m not sure! I’m only somewhat versed in the inuit cultures, and it’s been a long time now since I was able to speak with any Inuit.
@@gabithemagyar I think she's discussed a bit of that on some videos.
Wonderful!
Life is amazing ❤

I enjoy your videos and I’m genuinely curious about Greenland. What is Greenland like for gay travelers? Do gay residents enjoy living in Greenland and recommend gay travelers to visit?
Inuit tribe is very attractive. Rich in culture. My native side is Cherokee and Blackfoot. I would love to visit Greenland
When you say "Inuit people" you're saying people people 😂
Me gustas camisa muy bonitaa ❤❤hersmosa
This is my favorite site on you tube q is awesome but I have asked so many questions an have not received any response yet

I love that they're inclusive ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💜
Bantu means people and now we are called Bantu but its a reference to all people without distinction
This brand would be even cooler if they solf exotic furs and skins at more affordable prices.
I’m either moving to Greenland or Svalbard
Wow, this is great. Are these clothes made from Greenland materials? This is great and creating jobs and recycling and many other economic benefits wow
As a kid it was normal to say Eskimo, later we have been told, that it is not good to use, its Inuit . Is it true that Eskimo is a bad word ?
And is it Made in Greenland?
The first girl in the video has blonde hair and blue eyes, is she a native Greenlander as well? I'm curious because I'm myself of Turkic, Tatar origin -- there's a spectrum of phenotypes among us as well
Yeah because of the Vikings that came there after the natives so it's a blended DNA most of the time over there
Hi, Do you have solar panels in greenland?
200.000 subs🎉
Eu não estou surpreso, em várias línguas aqui no Brasil a palavra que se dá para o nome do povo significa povo naquela língua rsrs
It seems common for tribes to name themselves "the people". Makes sense to do so, especially in the past when every group was more isolated.
@@andromedaspark2241yes of course they were "the people". Would not logic therefore say that others were NOT "thr people" (non-people?). OH!!! How politically incorrect!! OF COURSE, THEY HAD PRIDE AND CONSIDERED THEMSELVES SUPERIOR.....🤣🤣🤣🤣 Get over it..... 👃✌️🇨🇦
@@andromedaspark2241 yes, also German word they use to name themselves (Deutsch) comes also from old Germanic word for people. Surely many groups / ethnicities named themselves like that, just people in own native language!
@@galeparker1067ohh, get over yourself, it doesn't have to mean hate towards other groups or tribes, just that they saw themselves as the center and referred to themselves as just the people, while talking in their language about other groups they used something characteristic for them or their own name (that in the language of the other tribe also meant... people) adjusted to their language / sounds they were able to produce. Not everything has to be fueled by hatred... seeing themselves as superior, despising others and so on.
From what I’ve gathered so far from Greenlandic, it seems that if “inuit” means “people”, then “inuuk” must mean “person”. Am I right? 😄
What does Inupiat mean? I have an ancestor. Does it also mean the same as Inuit?
Are the founders Inuit?
Lol how did I know it would be hundreds of dollars for a single item 😂😂
I'm 3,4 % inuit
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That's pretty common, for a people's name to just mean People. In my case, Jew literally means Judean. As in, person from Judea. Names like that most commonly mean People, or refer to homeland.
Hej
She does however say that no one should follow her diet as it was designed FOR her … and she’s Trying to gain weight!
❤
Inuit people is People people like chai tea is tea tea 😅
😢❤
Can you explain what the colors of the flag mean ? ❤️🇬🇱
Blood and snow? Seriously though, I wanna know, too.
The colours of my flag are also red and white and we were told at school red means blood that our people lost while fighting for indenpendence and freedom and love to own motherland, while white means purity, pure honest heart, without bad intentions etc.
I’m Inuit too 🩷 but not Greenlandic!
If Inuit means people then I'm Inuit form Cuba.
Actually Inuit is the plural, Inuk or Inuq (depending on the variety) is the singular form.
INUIT? Sounds like you are calling me STUPID. But now I know better.
😅
I figured the woman and man were just people, ya know. Didn't even occur to me some people might make a romantic link. Inclusivity when I wasn't even looking for it, perfect!
So what do Inuit people call themselves? Inuit?
Can you buy it online ?
