Nice video. I used to vacation at Scottsdale Links resort near the airport and often sat poolside for hours watching those final turns and low flybys just before touchdown so it was good to see it all from the flight deck angle for once.
Nice video.I was a Challenger mechanic for about 14 years at the Bombardier/Learjet service center in Wichita.I liked all the models, but the 300 was my favorite, went on many test flights in them and the 600 series.
Thats awesome man, our lead mechanic is also a 20 year challenger 300 guy, he is a wizard with the airplane, you guys who actually know your stuff and have years of experience with the airplane make it so easy for us, thanks 🙏
Oh yea....we have an active airspace here in the Valley. I went to flight school (just PPL) at KDVT - Deer Valley, which you flew past to the north lol. Back in 2004, it was the second most busy general aviation airport in the country after Van Nuys, Ca. I suspect that's the same still. Good airfield to learn at....if you can handle radio calls there and do your first class be transition at KPHX...you can handle anything....lol.
That airport is one of the busiest smaller airports in the country. When Barret Jackson comes in and Waste Management Open it is non stop planes. Location is a tough one in my opinion for take offs and landings.
At night, flying a Citation and cleared for the visual to Runway 21, I would set in GPS fixes WLLMN, EEDGR and DNAHO and descend not lower than the minimum altitudes on the RNAV (RNP) RWY 21 IAP. Using the fixes and minimum altitudes for the VISUAL at night improved safety and terrain awareness without requiring any RNP approvals or clearances.
Sounds reasonable, especially if its your first time there or your first night time there, or if it's a dark night. Those mountains next to 21 can come at you fast if you were not prepared for them
Very cool video. I’ve flown in KSDL hundreds of times but that said not flying fast and high like you guys I’m flying low and slow in a diamond star DA40!
@@TheChallengerPilot I was flying the G 1000. I got my private pilot license in 1986 at Phoenix sky Harbor Sawyer aviation. There I learned on assessment 152 and I have flown 172 182 182 turbo and 206. But I really like the diamond aircraft. They’re very simple fun to fly. They have great visibility. I would love to get their new single engine five seater. I can’t remember what they’re gonna call it. I think it’s a DA 50. But that’s way out of my price range.
@TheChallengerPilot It su has. Everything East oil the McDowell Mountains was empty desert. Our practice area was four miles North West oil the airport, about three hundred yards North of the canal. No homes between the canal and Cave Creek.
What a cool job! I lived here starting in 1987, it was nicer living here then. Small back then. Never could come up with the money to go flight school.
If you ever have a chance. try flying over the golf course during the Waste Management Phoenix Open. The 16th hole (Par 3) is a stadium course. That would be wild to see that from the air.

Hey 😊
Hi
Just wondering how often the FO gets to fly the aircraft?
50% of the flights
And that’s why there are 2 pilots flying, follow ATC instructions as directed..
And to think there’s actually a tech push for single pilot operated airliners in the near future. Disaster in the making…
