Cheryl L. Bruno has lived in fourteen of the United States and now resides in the magnificent Monterey Bay area of California. She is an independent researcher in Mormon studies and co-author of Method Infinite: Freemasonry and the Mormon Restoration (Greg Kofford Books, 2022), as well as a forthcoming biography on William Marks. Her wide interests have led her to publish scholarly articles, personal essays, poetry, and even a deck of Mormon-themed tarot cards. For anyone who watches Michelle Stone and the documents she finds where Joseph is emphatically denying he had any in polygamy, how do you turn your back on that? Joseph, Hyrum, Emma, Lucy and Joseph the third all denied it so where does that leave the the church. You do realize that if he did commit the crime of polygamy then you don't have a church of Jesus Christ, you only have a church of the latter day saints. I guess we can throw out Isaiah 4:1, and since we can not throw out God's holy word, God obviously restored polygamy through the Prophet Joseph Smith. Joseph was commanded to restore all things that pertained to God's holy ways. Joseph always followed the commands of God, even if Emma didn't like it.
@@jackjones655 No, We don't have to throw out Isaiah 4:1 as it isn't talking about women it is the 7 churches holding onto Christ. When you do some research you will find that Joseph did not restore polygamy. It is too long of a story to try to explain it here. If you want to know how God feels about polygamy then go read Jacob2 in the Book of Mormon. Go to all the scriptures and read the accounts of each polygamous situation and count how many times that it was God who commanded the marriage. I can save you some time and give you the answer which is 0. Sarah commanded Abraham, Jacob's father in law cheated him into marrying both women then both of them wanted greater posterity so they commanded Jacob to take their slaves. David and Solomon were high testosterone fellows who got richer and had more power by marrying lots of women from other kingdoms and you will find also in Jacob2 what God thought about that. How did polygamy get skipped over again? 😆😆 After just listening to a Sunday Musing about this yesterday, I was curious to hear what she had to say. What evidence does she actually have? We have Joseph himself ALWAYS denying polygamy. Teaching AGAINST it.
The Sunday musing by Connor was very helpful. I’m also interested to read and compare what the saints book has to say as well as research and the faith based approach from Hannah Stoddard. All along with the spirit’s guidance of course.
Understanding the divine balance of masculine and feminine, as equally authoritative administrators of Christ’s gospel…absolutely essential. I very much hope we as a church choose to embrace the truth about women’s God-given power and authority, rather than wait for God to bring it to us with all the great and terrible implications the scriptures foretell.

Cheryl discusses this in the episode. She finds them useful from a psychological health perspective to understand subconscious aspects of the mind, and for their artistic value. Nothing adversarial about it.

Agreed. It is considered an occult practice and the handbook says we should not support or participate in them. Psychic mediums and other things are not considered good. Christian Honestead has a good video about it "Possibly the Most Detailed Account of the Spirit World." The experience shared talks "The wicked and unconverted spirits have always their free will yet as formerly but they do not use the same for a wise investigation of the plan of salvation, but seek pleasure in their old camp and rejoice in the sins of a wretched and hopeless humanity. In this relation they are always yet the tool of Satan. I've appreciated Michelle's approach, tho I don't agree with everything. I appreciate she is bringing up this important topic.
I was hoping to hear more here from Cheryl specifically about polygamy. I'll have to look and see what she has shared as well.

This was a good podcast for me to listen too. I am willing to offer Michelle some grace for her approach to the polygamy debate. Thanks to you Cheryl for helping me soften to her. I don’t think we as mortals can really handle the truth as Gods ways aren’t man’s ways.
You lost me at the introduction of tarot cards.
I believe Joseph. I don't believe he "lied for the Lord". The different publications of the Doctrine and Convents is huge. The first two while Joseph was alive both said one wife one husband. The one published in 1880 that sections was taken out and 132 was put in. Reading that section out loud is enlightening that it is not true. The pioneers didn't even live the way 132 out lines plural marriage. I believe the Book of Mormon, polygamy is abomination. I believe Jacob polygamy is a grosser crime. You should have Gwendolyn Wyne on your program, to talk about truth.
Why does Cheryl use the term Mormon when President Nelson has requested that we use the full name of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It’s such a simple request. Mormon refers to a book or a certain ancient prophet

Can someone please help me see where it is said Joseph did not practice plural marriage? Because everything I have found says he did. I would like to look into this further and gain a better understanding of it myself.

The two that always stayed true to Joseph Smith through all his trials were Brigham Young & Heber C Kimball. What have they said about the topic?
I am sorry but that is not true. Michelle has shown proof on her channel. There are a lot of other channels and individuals who have come up with the same information that she has found. It is out there but Brigham and his group actually changed Joseph's journals and the church history and Brigham made himself into Joseph's closes friend and confidant when it wasn't true.

@@StompMom5 Too many people don't understand that because they don't know what we know. I hope it happens soon so we can all start repenting before God starts cleaning house. People just don't seem to get it when they read those scriptures where we are told "Upon mine own house first". I am pretty sure He wasn't talking about Israel though He does talk about them in other scriptures.
There were multiple people that witnessed Brigham Speaking after Joseph Smith was killed and said he not only sounded like Joseph Smith but also looked like Joseph Smith. This was one of the best documented miracles in the Church. That is how Brigham got such a large group. He had the keys & the Authority to make covenants with Our Heavenly Father. He was chosen by the Council of 50 and by the LORD.
@@trevorwilkerson8769Yes, but that does not make him infallible. People may hold keys and still have agency to choose to use them in potentially inappropriate ways.

I look at a picture of Brigham and a see a wicked man who led the people into the desert and corralled them where he could have total control over every aspect of their lives. When you get to know him you find that he was not the kind of man who I was taught that he was.

Wow I really thought you had found the truth about polygamy but I guess the brethren got to you and shut you up somehow. Totally disappointed in you for caving!!! Have Michelle on again if you still have questions. Just because Brigham did what he did doesn't mean the church is false. God works with imperfect people all the time.
Ok, this has sent me down a rabbit hole that led me to the same ending that it did when I watched Who Killed Joseph Smith. To my 5th great grandfather, John P. Green. The police of chief who carried out the orders to destroy the printing press that got Joseph arrested. He also escorted Joseph to Carthage jail and visited Emma and gave her a blessing after Joseph was killed. He was married to Brigham's sister but supported James Strang to be the next leader. 1st time hearing of James.....
That movie was the 1st I ever heard that there were even people who believed J.S. might not have practiced polygamy.
Why would both lead me to John??? Who was so close to him at that time.

Tarot cards are part of divination. The Holy Spirit will not participate ...but the author ( Satan) will.
