  • Easiest Beginner Tutorial for solving the Third Layer of the 3x3!
    ~~Looking for a speedcube like this? Pick one up here!
    www.amazon.com/...
    Here it is! The simplest, most comprehensive, interactive solution tutorial to the last layer of the 3x3 Rubik's Cube!
    Even though the video is over 20 minutes long, you'll be clicking around a lot to get to different parts, so don't be put off by the video's length. Also, this tutorial is very slow and comprehensible, so unlike my last video, you won't have to pause and rewind so many times.
    If you don't feel like following the video, here are the actual typed formulas for the third layer:
    1. Making the cross: F R U R' U' F'
    (Dot [in any orientation], then L shape [with tips pointing down and to the right], and then the [horizontal] line)
    2. Aligning the cross: R U2 R' U' R U' R'
    (One correct piece facing you and one facing away, then one incorrect facing you and one to the right)
    3. Placing corners: L' U R U' L U R' U'
    (Any orientation if all corners false. Otherwise, correct corner on bottom right)
    4. Final Step: R U2 R' U' R U' R' L' U2 L U L' U L
    (Keep false corners on bottom right and, if possible, top right)
    Happy Solving!
    (The cube used in this video is a DaYan GuHong)

    This is an excellent video and really helpful and clear. Just one thing, you say "I apologise if the colour you're working on isn't green....you might get a bit confused....". Given that most beginners use white as the starting point and it has the little logo on the centre white as an aid, could you use white instead of green ? I'm sorry about the criticism because actually, this is the best and clearest video I've seen and the first time I've managed to do it. So thanks again.

    • @victorhernandez6832
      @victorhernandez6832 10 лет назад +4

      He started with the green because it is easier to remember the color instead of just looking for the logo

      I think it will be tough to learn it in two days, it is easy to make a mistake along the way as a beginner.
      However with practise you and do a lot of the moves without having to think using what you might call "muscle memory" that make mistakes much less likely. It took me months to do it but I had to figure most of the moves out myself.
      I do it a different way I think, but a lot of it involves the same move (albeit longer) but I do that move so often I can do it in my sleep so I don't make any mistakes on it. Then all I have to think about is how to position the cube before I start the move. Anyway two days is a short period of time to learn so much, you will get better with more practise.

    • @scrappyclimber
      @scrappyclimber 10 лет назад

      I got it for christmas and the next day I was able to solve it from only 2 algorithms online which were orientation and permutation of the last layer. The rest I had to learn intuitively cause this video did not help

    I am no expert but I have started calling clockwise turns "do", anti-clockwise turns "undo", and double turns "flip" or "switch".
    This gives a fluid spoken notation: "do the right, flip the top, undo the right, undo top, do right, undo top, undo right"
    Alternatively you could say just the side for a clockwise turn and prefix it with "un-" for an anti-clockwise turn:
    "right, top top, un-right, un-top, right, un-top, un-right"

    But...
    After watching it,(using pause, play, rewind) i managed to solve my very first Rubiks for 3hrs. Haha.. too bad
    And i tried it again, 30min then 10min.

    You are actually a god. For the last year i have been looking for good tutorial, on how to solve the cube. I stumbled across unnecessarily long videos that never do the job. I have been looking until my friend recommended you. You changed my life. It was one of my biggest goals in life. To solve the Rubiks cube. I finally decided i would work hard with determination every day to solve my cube. I was able to only solve the white cross, then i would only be able to solve the first layer, then finally i would only be able to solve the second layer. This was the hard part, i couldn't find any video on RUclips that teaches you how to solve only the third that worked with a good explanation. I found this like i said from my friend and, it changed me. I want to say thank you, for helping me complete a challenge on my bucket list. (sorry for the super long comment i just wanted to be able to say thank you:)

    I got my Rubix cube as a child present. For the first month I got it I was never able to solve it. (Mind you I was only 9 at this time) So as a frustrated child I just kept it in my closet locked away for a year or two but later I found this rubix cube trend was growing quite rapidly and becoming more and more popular each day. I dug out my closet and found it only to realize it was actually quite expensive and a very well built one. Thanking my uncle (the one who gave me it) I learnt it and now I can solve one in under 30 seconds! The rubix cube he gave me was quite good and it was a speedcube. (If u dont know what im talking about enable anotations and go to 4:39 Thanks for listening and this is my rubix cube story.

    Congratulations to the one who uploaded this video. It is so detailed and conclusive at the same time, I am sure that even those who had never dealt with the cube when it first came out to the public will be able to fix it .As for me, it was one of my favourite toys at adolescence, so I was only too happy to remember how we used to solve the third and more difficult layer which I barely remember after 30 years.Once again, thanks a lot for giving me that pleasure

    So I've solve the cube over a hundred time now and know the steps by heart.. But recently at the very last step when turning the corners, I've been getting just one corner that isn't turned correctly. Hey guys so I figured out the problem, I didn't want to think this but it was true. Since I have a speed cube sometimes I move it too quickly that the corners stretch and during a combination that I was performing a corner flipped on me without realizing it. So yes the entire cube was done correctly I just had to pull one of the corners and flip it around because no matter how many time you try the cube will all ways be the way you build it to be
