I am of the old school opinion that if a modern "boombox" doesn't have a tape deck and/or CD player and/or AC adapter, it's not worth buying. I don't like rechargeable battery/Bluetooth models (the battery does not last long and I never use Bluetooth anyway).
nothin wrong with that.. i view it more as a convenience.. i did experiment in my older videos trying to modernize classic boomboxes.. but now i just add Bluetooth and a Lithium ion battery pack.. but not to mint condition or special boomboxes that have gathered a following.. like the GE Blockbuster or Realistic SCR-8.. i also have a Sharp VZ-2000 that will be reassembled soon.. with no mods.. and a real cool 1979 Sharp GF-8585 with the original box and original Sharp batteries! but lesser known older boomboxes i will mod..
Ok so I came across your video and I didn’t realize I even had a newer lasonic version. I have to say your video was informative. I had issues with mine and Amazon and after a long dispute with them and the nasty Chinese seller I kept it. What I did do so far was change the speakers out. Man what a difference in rhe sound. I wish I can send you a pic. Next I’m going to replace the amp and tweeters. She has a lot of potential but needs help. I’ll keep you posted
yea as stated in the video.. these are more for show than actual quality.. mine does sound quite good and loud.. didnt have any issues except slight noise in the background when the sound was turned down.. certainly no 80's Japan quality here.. but it does fully work.. and i do like the rechargeable aspect of it.. definitely not worth what there asking for them though.. more like a $129 boombox.. not a $229 boombox.. glad you enjoyed the video.. and good luck modding yours!
Thank you sir. I’ll keep you posted as to how it goes. Sounds 65 percent better than it was. I might paint mine also. Not to keen on the white but I did pic thst color because it’s easier to paint.
@@juansoto2818 when it warms up here i might do the same to mine.. not sure what color i'll pick yet.. what color you planning? i might go silver.. maybe..
Same here. I’m in the northeast corridor. Too cold to paint. I have this really nice color called patriot blue. Looks really nice. I may go that way. Possibly a granite gray also.
if watching the video the part where i check out the radio on the new Lasonic i was off by 1 number on the digital display.. instead of 100.5 i was on 100.6 checking the radio after this error.. the radio did pick up the station just fine.. sorry about that.. also the printed text on the back of the Lasonic box shows stuff the new boombox does not have.. for example.. separate Bass and Treble controls.. the new unit does not have these.. along with other "claimed" features.. i feel they just copied and pasted from the original Lasonic box.. one more thing.. the switch on the back of the newer unit basically does the same thing as the older Lasonic.. it powers the whole unit down.. preventing the draining of the battery.. thanks! and yes.. i rambled on... sorry..
Could it be on the older model the bass and treble settings are actually volume for the tweeters and woofers and that's why it's so much quieter?... I have a Chinese Amp that works like that
@@davidbrigham8319 thought those were sold out.. got a link? Ahh actually they still are available.. pretty pricey too.. they are o.k. but like Lasonic boomboxes.. they are a bit under built lol.. like 85% quality.. still a nice edition to protect the radio..
I just purchased a white 931 BTQ I noticed some of the buttons click nice and 2 of them barely click but they work. I also noticed when you push the loudness button it says flat and goes loud then you push it again it stays the same until you turn it off and on again how does your white one work button wise. And is there any way to get an owner's manual for it somehow. Thanks great video review to 👍👍.
mines packed up atm.. i'll check it in a bit to see if it does the same.. not a bad boombox.. but if they just put a little more effort in build quality it would be a 1st place winner.. but it's basically a cash grab on the name..
Also I was wondering it doesn't hold a charge battery is dead the next day even after a charge the night before.🤔 I wish it came with a damn owner's manual.
@@davidbrigham8319 there is a switch in the back of the boombox.. it's not labeled.. that is a AC/DC switch.. if after you turn off the boombox and the LCD display is still on.. then you need to switch it off in the back.. this is like all Lasonic 931's no matter what generation.. thats the reason why your battery is dead the next day.. pretty silly design by Lasonic.. hope this helps!
the M90 mini was built very well.. very solid.. obviously its way smaller than the i931.. so if you want noise.. the i931 is your fix.. if you want a small but fairly beefy Bluetooth speaker.. the M90 is pretty cool..
The 21 century can’t make anything of good quality , unlike my English Hacker radios from the 60s / 70s with high quality elac speakers I have a super sovereign, a sp 80 if I have them to loud they will easily smash my windows, these radios would be in all royal households also have a Grundig Satellit 3000 with a 7x5 speaker and Twitter this radio I think would crack concrete. I sent my second lasonic i931 back today and my third one came today from Amazon 4 buttons were broken did not work so I packed it up going back tomorrow I am done with lasonic very poor quality 👎🤔.

I bet if you put some foam seals around the speaker box on the old one like the new one has it would improve the sound

Hi! What you think about Kicker ik501 in comparison with sharp gx-m10 in sound quality and bass?

What year did the Bluetooth version come out?
How do you charge the i931btq and have it hold a charge??🤔
@@davidbrigham8319 need more context.. is it the model that has a lithium ion rechargeable battery in it? If so it comes with a charger.. it's shown in the video..
Has the rechargeable battery and a USB charger cord and remote control.
I contacted lasonic and they sent me a 5 volt USB charger adapter for it. They said they don't send the adapter with them out anymore.
Does the new one really take a 12V DC input? Or does it just say that by mistake? The charger supplied is for an iPhone at 5V DC?
the power supply was shown in the video.. it's a 12 volt power supply.. the one shown in pics on eBay is wrong..

is it mono or stereo sound
Stereo for both..

Should have not painted the speaker grill to much gold
probably should have gone silver.. just experimenting.. what do you think?
They should have made this one with a usb and sd recorder instead of just a player only
This is cranky
