Bumpboxx Remixx Review.. Cool Concept.. Awful Sound..
I was looking forward to getting one of these as i am a retro fanatic.. and the look of this is truly cool/unique.. but sadly it sounds bad.. bad enough to not recommend it.. if you want it for the cool retro factor go for it.. but if you want it because you think it would sound awesome.. nope..

The Great BASS OFF! Pioneer Steez VS. Sharp GX-M10 VS. JVC RV-NB1 Kaboom
I have the nb50 and I just got the mb1 on eBay, it’s on the way, only £50 absolute bargain….looking forward to hearing it….
night and day difference.. you will see..
I've never seen a tuxedo cat that was skinny, including my own. He wants to know why the hell you're being so skimpy.
@@southphillylilly he is a spoiled rotten child trust me..
@ I have no doubt
Now i know why they were by one get one free
@bumpbox WTF
Im extremely disappointed
Received one for Christmas from my girlfriend. When I first seen these i thought they were badass. But when I turned it on to listen, WOW I couldn’t believe how cheap no name brand walmart special it sounded 👎🏼
felt the same as you on that.. a shame really..
Right,,,I like bending my missus over the speaker and having it from behind,,,,we are both deaf... but we like the vibrations
There’s a sale going on right now and found the sound decent for the price. Of course it’s not going to have the warm hi fi sound of my home stereo systems or the vintage boomboxes. I’m using a iPhone with the eq bass turned down and sounds decent .
Bumpboxx use sh!t electronic components in their products my Freestyle V3 only lasted two years without a hitch, now needs electrical repairs
yea.. not a fan after listening to this.. i think they are discounting these due to the horrible sound.. not worth the normal asking price.. $50 bucks maybe.. cool looking though..
Maybe, but I like the way their models sound, very early Boombox style. Even if it's lower quality components they have a unique nostalgic sound signature.
Note: I have not heard this model in person. Try to play higher quality files or source music.
$20 sound for sure! I have this same model, it's more for looks if for anything.
Got a new phone! the Oneplus 12R.. so my videos should look and sound much better! Enjoy!
Amazing!
thank i just ordered a broken one so ill fix it and add more power lol
Let me be the first to say if anybody out there is looking for a Bluetooth speaker that can play USB flash drive Etc this is definitely worth considering it sounds really good the bass actually is really good you can noticeably hear the Bass from around 30 Hertz which is really good for any type of a speaker I don't care what it is 20 Hertz is just the speaker moving in and out moving air 30 is when you start hearing actual Bass the tweeters I mean dude buy it that's all I'm going to say I've listened to lots of different things this thing is really good and it has ample power it's not like the Brooklyn boom box it actually does have some power
I picked up the Brooklyn Boombox before I left California wish it was a little bit louder wish they would have used Vu meters instead of the digital lights but it plays a lot of different things cassette CD USB I mean it basically plays a lot of stuff so you can't really complain too much . Basically I was looking for a Bluetooth speaker I do have an EXO's 9 I've had it for quite some time but I wanted something a little different the EXO's 9 TB very boomy like just a different sound signature so I picked this up because I figured well hey let's see what it's about
How does deep bass compare to the jvc kaboom and the Panasonic dt680? Thank you!!!!
nothing beats the bass of the JVC.. outside of the Sharp GX-M10 or the newer version Sharp GX-BT9X with Bluetooth.. this speaker is more in line with the Panasonic if i were to compare.. and thats not a bad thing.. definitely worth the cash..
Stick with the old models 1980s rule
i realized that 5200mAh battery is not that much battery life as i thought.. so going to put 3-3.7v Samsung 21700 5000mAh lithium cells for a total of 15,000mAh which should give you 10 hours of battery life at 50% volume.. new video soon showing this new mod!
I have the exact same JVC RV-NB20, I bought it new many years ago, I have original remote control that came with it (which is RM-SRVNB20A) the Bluetooth Mod is what I'm interested in, it's near mint, and any paint and cosmetic issues I can handle no problem. I really want more details on the Bluetooth mod. Curious why you moved the remote sensor from where it was originally but that's just curiosity. warmest regards -M
i didnt move the remote sensor.. the hole i put in on the bottom was for the remote sensor for the Bluetooth module.. i no longer have the boombox.. gave it to a close friend.. he loves it.. i have made allot of advances since i posted this.. like using a latch switching circuit instead of a physical on/off switch.. plus i plan on incorporating Lithium Ion batteries in the near future to these awesome classics.. cool that you bought the JVC new.. it's the last of the quality RV-NB series Kabooms.. in your case you can just use a Bluetooth dongle from Amazon to achieve what i did without needing to do electrical modding.. just buy one of these.. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B4JTKF6T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 good luck!
if you have been wanting to relive your childhood.. cant get any better than this! A barn find Lasonic TRC-931! going up on eBay soon! dont miss out!
Would you ship too Canada??
This is cranky
I sent my second lasonic i931 back today and my third one came today from Amazon 4 buttons were broken did not work so I packed it up going back tomorrow I am done with lasonic very poor quality 👎🤔.
Can you play FM stereo on it and play CDs from a USB plug in player. Also can you run it on ac plug in 🤔.
No it doesn't have a built-in radio basically if you want to listen to the radio you could do Bluetooth and it does have USB so you can hook up a stick and it does have inputs if you want to run a CD player with a cord you can run 3.5 chord to hook up anything you want
Will this particular unit it is a Bluetooth speaker but it does have a 3.5 input so you can hook up a radio you can hook up a CD player you can hook up a cassette player they have Jacks to hook up anything to it the most interesting thing is that whatever Source you hook into you can actually record onto USB
As far as plugging it in it does have a built-in lithium ion battery as far as I know basically when the unit is full you want to unplug it you don't want to leave it plugged in all the time because you're leaving the battery at 100% capacity and with lithium ion batteries they like to be charged up and then used the worst thing you can do to any battery is keep it fully charged all the time unless it's some kind of lead acid battery those are the only batteries that like to be at 100% all the time
HI i also was thinking of ordering the i931 carrying case. what's your thoughts on it thanks Dave 👍😊.
@@davidbrigham8319 thought those were sold out.. got a link? Ahh actually they still are available.. pretty pricey too.. they are o.k. but like Lasonic boomboxes.. they are a bit under built lol.. like 85% quality.. still a nice edition to protect the radio..
Going to order one on Amazon 75.98.👍
How do you charge the i931btq and have it hold a charge??🤔
@@davidbrigham8319 need more context.. is it the model that has a lithium ion rechargeable battery in it? If so it comes with a charger.. it's shown in the video..
Has the rechargeable battery and a USB charger cord and remote control.
I contacted lasonic and they sent me a 5 volt USB charger adapter for it. They said they don't send the adapter with them out anymore.
I just purchased a white 931 BTQ I noticed some of the buttons click nice and 2 of them barely click but they work. I also noticed when you push the loudness button it says flat and goes loud then you push it again it stays the same until you turn it off and on again how does your white one work button wise. And is there any way to get an owner's manual for it somehow. Thanks great video review to 👍👍.
mines packed up atm.. i'll check it in a bit to see if it does the same.. not a bad boombox.. but if they just put a little more effort in build quality it would be a 1st place winner.. but it's basically a cash grab on the name..
Thanks for the response I schedule a exchange from Amazon for another one thanks I will let you know how it goes 😊👍.
Also I was wondering it doesn't hold a charge battery is dead the next day even after a charge the night before.🤔 I wish it came with a damn owner's manual.
@@davidbrigham8319 there is a switch in the back of the boombox.. it's not labeled.. that is a AC/DC switch.. if after you turn off the boombox and the LCD display is still on.. then you need to switch it off in the back.. this is like all Lasonic 931's no matter what generation.. thats the reason why your battery is dead the next day.. pretty silly design by Lasonic.. hope this helps!
Got it for my 16th birthday. I miss it. Nice job fixing it. I've heard they are tough. It's an amazing boombox. My dream is to get one, but they are tough to find.
well putting it up at the end of the week on eBay.. since the buyer of the GE Blockbuster was very happy with the GE.. i'll put a link for it when it goes live.. good luck!
I got this for xmas in 1982. A memory I'll never forget...........came in a big blue box and I sat with it in my lap playing with it near the tree. The 1st song it played was from the radio; The Kinks Father Christmas. It's just something you don't forget....embedded in my mind forever. I was 16.
got some never forget memories too when i got my first boombox.. there's somethin special about these portable stereo's back in the day.. they were just so cool..
@@kyfeam Definitely!
I am of the old school opinion that if a modern "boombox" doesn't have a tape deck and/or CD player and/or AC adapter, it's not worth buying. I don't like rechargeable battery/Bluetooth models (the battery does not last long and I never use Bluetooth anyway).
nothin wrong with that.. i view it more as a convenience.. i did experiment in my older videos trying to modernize classic boomboxes.. but now i just add Bluetooth and a Lithium ion battery pack.. but not to mint condition or special boomboxes that have gathered a following.. like the GE Blockbuster or Realistic SCR-8.. i also have a Sharp VZ-2000 that will be reassembled soon.. with no mods.. and a real cool 1979 Sharp GF-8585 with the original box and original Sharp batteries! but lesser known older boomboxes i will mod..
That thing is sweet!
battery from Amazon.. the exact 5200mAh battery came back in stock.. here is the link.. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CX531LMP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
I like to buy it from you
Awesome job man.
My dude , you talked every second of the video. How are we gonna gauge the sound quality of the radio you’re reviewing if you don’t shut up for one second and let us listen
@@Superdude881 fair enough.. still learning my dude.. in future videos comparing sound between 2 boomboxes.. I will shut up..
even if he did not talk any seeming change in sound be moot point
The Sharp GX-M10 could be outstanding, but its radio and auxiliary inputs don't have as good of sound as its CD, USB, and iPod/iPad modes. I'm curious about the reasoning behind this design choice.
That is awesome! What's your eBay account name? I'd be interested if you auction it off!
@@tbone8723 eBay name is the same as my RUclips name..
Wow dude! I love boomboxes but don't know how to fix them. Do you do this only privately? Respect to you for knowing this stuff.
retiring out west on a plot of land.. will be putting a shed on it just for repairing old school boomboxes/stereo receivers.. so yea at some point next summer i will be in the boombox repair service.. love bringing these classics back to life..
@@kyfeam when you start you announce it so we know about you. Good luck on your retirement, I should join you in a decade. Again my respect for your electronic skills.
can you test the latency on aux input? I want to use it for DJing. Thanks
The skills to pay the bills 😄👊
Awesome man! I’m glad you got everything working. You got this from me over a year ago and I’ve been waiting to see it on your channel. Nice work!
@@Erik0207 lol had the parts for a year.. finally had an opportunity to dedicate time to it.. it's to beautiful a classic to let sit unrepaired.. glad you got to see it come back to life!
Could it be on the older model the bass and treble settings are actually volume for the tweeters and woofers and that's why it's so much quieter?... I have a Chinese Amp that works like that
I bet if you put some foam seals around the speaker box on the old one like the new one has it would improve the sound
Who is watching in 2024? Those iPod docks have aged like milk. I came here because the current JVC Boomblaster is rumoured to be the last decent sounding new boombox. Some silly ergonomic flaws with it though.
How long that battery last
When I've used it I played it at a decent volume I would say the battery can last anywhere from 6 to 10 hours depending upon the volume level
Как сделать из нашего уже типа винтажного аппарата супер гаджет? Как говорил один товарищ: Make our SHARP GX-M10 great again!!!)) 1.
Very nice collection.!!!❤❤❤
Great review. Love the wooden enclosures....looks like they responded to the critics of the GPO Brooklyn. Have you ever owned that one?
no.. bit to pricey for me.. plus seen the video Techmoan did on the Brooklyn.. and it looked pretty cheaply made.. the Manhattan on the other hand is actually quite well built.. it certainly better built then most retro inspired boomboxes these days.. highly recommend grabbin one if you can..
@@kyfeam I guess they used the money they saved by not giving it a tuner, tape deck or CD player, and put it into the sound quality
@@80s_Boombox_Collector sounds about right.. would rather have that than items i no longer use like CD player or USB/MicroSD MP3 player.. i use Bluetooth and RUclips music on my phone.. so much more convenient.. i know us old schoolers love cassettes.. and i do.. but you really cant beat Bluetooth streaming.. technology is a wonderful thing sometimes..
Personally I own the Brooklyn Boombox I have one currently I bought one when they first came out I wasn't really too impressed the number one issue with the Brooklyn Boombox is a parasitic drain on the battery. What you have to do is charge up the battery and then unplug it do you plug it in when you're ready to use it otherwise it will drain the battery without even using the item. The only other issue with the Brooklyn boomboxes not enough volume
@@kimballlewis5030 So you have to leave it plugged in all the time?
I’ve had the original JVC Kaboom box since it was new. Bought it at a Montgomery Ward store in the late 90s. Didn’t need it but I just heard the sound and had to buy it. Everything including the cassette deck still work flawlessly. I did find out that the old pet peeve of the subwoofer ends becoming sticky over time if you just let it alone, it eventually quits. Most people ruined the looks by bleaching them. Just had to wait it out.
yea they get sticky.. i just use rubbing alcohol to get all the stickiness off then repaint them.. looks great after.. i made a red white and blue Kaboom.. looks sweet.. might make a vid on it at some point.. glad your still enjoying your beast!
Thx
Your welcome!
Excellent, does it show much battery power is left or show when charging thanks
gave the unit away to a down on their luck co-worker.. so sadly cannot check that for you..
@@kyfeam Appreciate the reply, thanks.I went online and searched for the manual and won loaded it and its all there's when its charging the light which is blue blinks and when its fully charged it will remain constant thanks.I shoot music vids and just need it for shoots either of sound or for aesthetics, its a Wonderfull looking item
No it does not have a battery gauge. If you plan on taking it somewhere you would just plug it in and make sure it's topped off when the battery is full the light will stay on constantly blue on the back
