I always loved Vista too. I grew up with 98, XP, Vista and 7 and Vista felt the most nostalgic. Even though I was stuck on Home Basic for the 7 years I used it, Vista did the most for me. In fact I'm even considering getting a full copy of Home Premium because I miss it so much.
Vista sounds are quiet so they don't frighten you if the volume is too loud.(According to Microsoft) Some of XP's sounds frighten people like the Critical Stop and the Low battery sounds.

I grew up with XP, I used 98 when I was three but only before my PC broke, some months after I started using it. I used XP up until 2010, I was 8 and bam we got a new PC, the first PC that wasn't a family one and it was all mine, and it had 7 on it. It was a whole new world for me.

Yep, the Ding and Chord go back to 98, possibly 95 (I'm not sure about 95 though).
The chord sound goes back to 98, not 95. Unsure about the ding, though.
It's like the Vista sounds are trying to be 'upmarket' or something...I miss my XP sounds! The only one I like on my Vista is the 'ding' :P
