  • Kreskin is a mentalist who became popular on North American television in the 1970s. He was inspired to become a mentalist by Lee Falk's famous comic strip Mandrake the Magician, which features a crime-fighting stage magician. He has always presented himself as an "entertainer," never as a psychic, who operates on the basis of suggestion, not the paranormal or supernatural.
In 2002, Kreskin made a prediction that there would be a mass-UFO sighting over Las Vegas on June 6 between the hours of 9:45 PM and midnight that would be witnessed by thousands of people. He also stated that if there were no sighting, he would donate $50,000 to a charity. Hundreds of people camped out that evening yet no sighting occurred. On June 8, Kreskin appeared in the opening segment of the Coast to Coast AM radio show, hosted by Art Bell, to explain what had happened. Bell read Kreskin's press release over the air to the effect that: "the sighting prediction was a total fabrication in order to prove people's susceptibility to suggestion post 9/11". Kreskin claimed he was concerned that a terrorist, with the skills of a mentalist such as himself, could pull a similar stunt involving something much worse. He stated that the predicted sighting was only an "experiment". When asked about the $50,000 donation he previously promoted, Kreskin claimed there was indeed a sighting that night since he said glowing green orbs were supposedly spotted in the sky just before midnight and reported by witnesses after news camera crews had already left the scene. Because of this one reported sighting, Kreskin said his prediction came true anyway and therefore he did not have to pay the money he previously announced. This statement offended Art Bell, who opined that this was merely a publicity stunt on Kreskin's part, and officially banned Kreskin from his show.

I had a sales position in a Fortune 500 company back in the 80's. My manager/ sales trainer was previously employed by The A. K .He schooled me not only in sales but also in the power of suggestion ! I would watch him literally play with people as if they were putty in his hands! Only the lucky and most alert types would escape without giving him their hard earned cash !

Well, no. While Kreskin does occasionally perform magic, and magicians occasionally use the same methods as Kreskin, they are not the same.

@@timsgta The guy you responded to said he was an excellent magician... nothing more, nothing less. In other words he wasn't some wizard that can actually read minds or manipulate the cards with anything other than illusion... you said "PROVE IT" your comment could be taken most likely only one of two ways.
1, he isn't an excellent magician. prove he is.
2, he is more than an excellent magician and prove he doesn't have some sort of paranormal powers.
Since he was pretty well regarded as a magician, it seemed more likely you thought he was more than that, as others are fooled into thinking often. Even in this thread.
If that was the case, then my comment absolutely relates to what you said and I really mean it. If you or anyone else believes he's MORE THAN a magician, you're not evolved and proof that evolution isn't real. Because humanity is that deluded still.
Even the fact I needed to explain this is kind of proof of what I said. lol

The guy you wanted to PROVE IT was saying that all this guy was a good magician right.. nothing more right... in other words HE DID NOT HAVE OTHERWORLDLY POWERS OR PSYCHIC ABILITIES...
AND IF YOU TAKE THE OPPOSITE POSITION OF THAT, THEN YOU'RE SAYING HE DOES.

In the 1970's, Kreskin did a weekly show in Canada, and on this particular episode, he asked a guy from the studio audience to come down and help him out with one of his routines. At the end of the bit, the guy said, "Wow! That's a neat trick." Kreskin got upset. Somewhat pissed, the Amazing one stood there, took off his glasses, put his hand on the guy's shoulder, and said (paraphrasing slightly) in all seriousness, "Sir, this is no trick. This is a mental ability that neither I nor anyone can explain." After a brief few seconds, Kreskin put his glasses back on, thanked the guy, smiled, and asked the audience to give him a hand. Great television

I heard that guy unexpectedly passed away months after his comment from Kreskin.....rumours say it was his death touch or something. Kreskin was instructed by his lawyers to discontinue touching people when upset.

The Amazing Kreskin was very good. A lot of it was tricks, yes, but a lot was also power of suggestion. He was not a true mentalist, nor a mind reader , nor a hypnotist. He did some of his tricks through power of suggestion, which would work on some people but not everyone. That only made it more believable to many in the audience. The cards were all tricks though. But many times he did both in the same act as he does here. The lady falling backwards was power of suggestion, but the right card coming up was a card trick.
