Don't know who recommended this, but I can assure you there WAY better compositions you could do from D-Low. I highly suggest watching D-Low's "Lanigiro" track.
think of contracting the lowest throat muscles and limiting air (Breathing will almost sound like a zombie) intake and then inhaling very hard. Change where you hold air in throat (good luck if you have a bad gag reflex)and mouth and tongue positions for basically limitless textures/ variations of the sound
Would be so cool to see a beatbox drumline half time show! Unfortunately I don't know many beatboxers from the PNW here, but I'm sure there are some dope ones out there.
Its a little different for the channel, but there are 2 short clips that I think still fit the theme and I think you'd enjoy. Harry Mack is a freestyle rapper on RUclips (literally the undisputed GOAT), but what most people don't know is that he is an incredible jazz drummer, studied it in college, and used to perform as a drummer. The two clips I'm talking about are "Rhytmic Transposition 101" and "Too many flows". Each are 1-2 minutes, and he flat out teaches some crazy concepts about rhythm -- all off the top of his head in a livestream in the moment. Super entertaining and insane to watch. The two clips are short enough that they might be good for a single video if you're interested (or two videos, its your channel haha)
at 7:10 that sound is called Inward Bass! It's when you inhale deeply while slightly tightening the throat. (thats an oversimplification lol) You get these guttural sounds bc its a pretty strong vibration most times.
please please react to Uniteam' s 2021 GBB Showcase. It's literally the PERFECT composition and arrangement of beatbox for you, especially with expertise in drum rhythms and percussions. I would absolutely love to watch you react to that!
you should also really check D-lows 30 bases video its not so much of a routine as it is a showcase of a bunch of different types of bases that he can do and as someone new to the beatbox world it will put names to sounds and be pretty informative for you, it also shows how crazy good of a beatboxer D-low is lol
Hey Tony! back again for your random beatbox questions. First your “industrial scyfyi sound is a slow whistle or an inward whistle that’s vocalized kinda niche towards him. The second sound you ask about is inward bass it’s very deep and very clean but mostly just inward vibration bass which is made by inhaling lots of air while vocalizing through your chest. His is esp “wet “ and deep. And yes it’s totally independent from anything your doing with your mouth. Also totally agree wish more beatboxers were incorporated with drinking and high end events which does happen with some people like Reeeps one he branches out a lot and collab s with different venues and shows but esp in the US is still pretty niche. Love the videos can’t wait for the next beatbox one
vibed with that a ton. s tier level of quality. I feel like they just keep getting better and better. 🔥🔥🔥I now think you'll love October Ends' new song 🔥 Do a reaction video for it!
If you’re dipping your toes into the world of beatboxing, one of my favorites has the be PWAD Uruguayan Beatbox Champion (Posted Dec 22 2019) Unbelievable attention to sound detail, texture and control. Feel like you’d appreciate it as well! Cheers and good luck with all the suggestions
Aye Tony! Loved the reaction. This is one of my personal favorites from D-Low (alongside his Dubstep insanity videos). Really liked the more musically technical approach (you’re a music director.. duh XD ), and you were actually pretty close to some of these sounds. Looking to maybe clarify some things about what D-Low’s doing (Disclaimer: I am by no means a professional. If I get anything wrong, feel free to correct me, lol). 3:20 - Including this bit cause I really like it XD . 3:55 - “That is very cool” Yes. Yes it is XD . I forget the technique he’s using (it’s in his “1 beatboxer 30 basses” video), but it is very cool. 4:17 - I believe that is the Rimshot Snare (think). Iirc, it’s like a normal K-snare, but done with your tongue at the side of your mouth with a sort-of tongue-click thing (as I said; I’m not a professional). 4:36 - D-Low zipper go brr (aka inhuman zipper). It’s very Sci-Fi and very dope XD . It ’s basically drawing air in through a small gap at the side of your mouth (like a liproll, but less complex). 6:43 - That Inward Bass goes *so* hard. It’s not hard to learn, but it’s kinda hard to explain. Lot of people tell you “do Chest Bass inwards,” but it’s not the most clear thing to execute. Chest bass gives you a good idea on the positioning of the sound, but it doesn’t always translate going from outward to inward. I learned by starting with an inward vocal fry (sing a high note inwards, then walk down with it until it starts breaking), and going as low as I can with it. When I hit that low, I went even lower, until something gave and it turned into inward bass. 7:05 - 100% agree XD . D-Low’s Inward Bass is absolutely insane. 7:56 - 808 Bass Kick go brr. 8:06 - Going from a 808 kick and K-snare to throat bass and reverb. Incredibly smooth. 10:50 - “I’m curious what has to happen inside of here to get that sound to come out and not, like, destroy you.” It will destroy you the first few days or so. It’s kinda inescapable, since you’re using muscles you normally don’t use. Just gotta keep hydrated, keep at it, and it’ll become easier to control/less taxing on your throat. 11:26 - Idk this technique, but it is very cool. 11:57 - Inward Bass mixed with an inward whistle. It’s insane how hard it hits. 12:45 - Dead on. The Inward Bass emanates from the throat, so beatboxers are able to perform the sound either through their mouth, or their nose. Breathing through their nose frees the mouth for different things (tongue clicks, teeth clicks, spit snares, etc.) Again, loved the reaction! Cheers!
Dig the content. The closest to what you are referring to with beatboxers is probably reeps one and an orchestra. If you make it happen would be cool ;p
I know you probably are already full on recommendations but one game soundtrack you should definitely check out is Cuphead. Best Jazz and Latin Big Band sounding band out there. One that I'd say listen to first is Carnival Kerfuffle
I dont know if you will see this but if you do i suggest reacting to "the man they called cayde" it's a song from destiny 2 and it's in my opinion the best piece from it.
OMG please!!! If you make what you said at minute 10:00 happen i'll be forever grateful to you. Beatboxers and Loopers are soo underrated!! They have better musicality and rhytmh than a lot of the musicians i've played with. Btw i love your videos man, such a cool guy! 🙌
Beatboxing is one of those things I just will never understand but ill always be amazed by it
Don't know who recommended this, but I can assure you there WAY better compositions you could do from D-Low. I highly suggest watching D-Low's "Lanigiro" track.
Lol 👍
his gbb showcase was great tbh, just a mash of songs
Sound sketch is by far the most impressive and the one Tony would appreciate the most with all the technicals and elements.
Sound sketch is definitely the one he should react to
Sound Sketch would work better with Tony
Im not even kidding when i say i anticipate YOUR beatbox reactions the most
The low, gurgling bass you're talking about is called inward bass.
think of contracting the lowest throat muscles and limiting air (Breathing will almost sound like a zombie) intake and then inhaling very hard. Change where you hold air in throat (good luck if you have a bad gag reflex)and mouth and tongue positions for basically limitless textures/ variations of the sound
I really love this kind of reaction! There's not enough channels that do deep analysis with multiple listens
Keep going with these beatboxing videos. Always awesome!
Would be so cool to see a beatbox drumline half time show! Unfortunately I don't know many beatboxers from the PNW here, but I'm sure there are some dope ones out there.
By no means need somebody local just somebody famous within the activity that has a lot of draw

Sorry but no you dont tighten your throat, it is almost the opposite. If you tighten your throat you will fuck it up

Should this be added to music courses? How would this music be written out?
Just like all other music is. Rhythms are Rhythms, but it's the articulation notation system that would need special detail
