Charles Nelson Reilly Y2Play Marathon Intros

  • On the last day of 1999, and with the rumors of global (or at least electronic) calamity potentially looming over the new millennium, Game Show Network presented an 8 hour marathon of the final episodes of classic game shows, including the final Jeopardy with Art Fleming, Gene Rayburn's last Match Game (sans Hollywood Squares anyway), the last Family Feud w/ Richard Dawson, and more.
Match Game panelist Charles Nelson Reilly was brought in to "host", and did 45 second to 1 minute introductions of each show. Before the final show in the marathon, Charles took time to eulogize Rayburn, who had recently passed away. (also a running joke throughout the marathon? Charles seeming contempt for The Gong Show, one of the other featured programs)
Because of copyrights, most of the shows from the marathon that CAN be posted to RUclips already have been, but I wanted to preserve this fascinating piece of the night specifically, especially for the shows that cannot be uploaded (Jeopardy, Pyramid, Gong Show, etc)

I love the late great Charles Nelson Reilly. A perennially underrated talent. This is brilliant. Never saw the marathon but I think I just now saw the best bits. Thank you so much!

I watched Charles Nelson Reilly host the NYE Match Game episodes while we were about to enter the year 2000. I got drunk on a six pack of Corona Light bottles and this was the only time that I have ever drank alcohol at home. Well, no Y2K disasters happened, Charles made it though the marathon, I got a hangover, and the 21st century didn't begin until 2001.

Don't know if you can answer this question that may be off-topic, but where did the information on Wikipedia on IMDB originate that classic PYL had 761 episodes? Wasn't it 754?

Because the final series of episodes from the Tomarken run have never aired (including when Buzzr had the chance), and because of the way the show just sort of faded out as affiliates dropped the 4PM clearance, the exact # of episodes is a guess.
The exact number almost assuredly lies in between the two. There are some recollections/data that at least one of the Fall '86 weeks wasn't a full week, as well as questions over how many weeks total they actually did
      4 weeks with a 3 show week = 754
      4 weeks with a 4 show week = 755
      4 weeks, full = 756
      5 weeks with a 3 show week = 759
      5 weeks with a 4 show week = 760
      5 weeks, full = 761
With a likely unannounced finale, the show not even clearing half the country when it ended, and neither GSN, USA, nor Buzzr running all the way to the very end, any number you hearthat doesn't come from Fremantle themselves or someone with the masters or that worked on the show is an educated guess.

I see you have a comments section again. I'm just curious, why does your channel have so many fewer videos than it used to?
