Our church took a 20m donation and sat on it for 15 years, pocketing all the interest. The addition built on the church was maybe 5m. The 20m was to renovate a private school, that closed the year after the donations. The father was outed as a pedophile and quietly shuffled off to another church. It depends on the church.
I'm a Catholic, and I am extremely disappointed at clergy when they make it all about pocket books and status. It's one of the main reasons for the Protestant movement. Thankfully, I've never been to a Catholic church that requires you to tithe, it's always a meager donation with a basket passing around. However, I have experienced the status-seeking people that put their names in to look "good" and that's not right. What Woody experienced is sadly not the authentic Catholic experience.
I grew up Catholic and my experience was the exact opposite of Woody’s. Our church, the building itself was a lot more modern, probably because it’s on the west coast. Very industrial design with a slight hint of modernism and brutalism. There was never any pressure to put money in the pan as it was passed around. Our priest was a very nice old man who would tell really nice stories and he lived literally 13 feet away from the church in a small single story house that must have been built at the same time of the church because it was the same design.
Our father was outed as a pedophile and the church pocketed 20m for a school that closed and didn’t do anything with it for 15 years, where they put on a cookie-cutter addition.
Dont tell me you went to mass anytime in the last 20 years you didn't hear them pressure you for your "Time, Talent, and TREASURE" Constantly... and it was never enough. The worst
@@nicholascecil6733 Why as a matter of fact, I'm still going to mass and I've been to mass quite a few times in the last twenty years. I have never in my entire life heard that phrase or felt pressured to contribute.
My experience with preachers that came into the prison, was probably my best church experience. They weren’t able to pass out a collection bowl, (bc wtf were they comma collect, ramen?) so they were there for genuine reasons. Alternatively, when I was doing community service at a local church, I watched them pass out a laundry basket sized collection plate after speaking in tongues for an hour.
The Peter Popoff commercials always have people saying how they got that little ketchup packet of holy water then talk how all their problems were solved. 😂
lol Kyle when started the fig tree story I was like " ahh he hates this fig tree" one of the best bible stories. I think there is another fig tree he likes. It may be figs in general are no good.
The other thing about the figs is that fig trees are weird in that they start growing flowers and then figs before they have leaves so if a fig tree has leaves than it should have figs. Some people interpret that as it condemning hypocrites as the leaves are the tree “saying” it has figs but it really doesn’t
Then the way I was taught about the whip part was that Jesus didn’t just grab a whip and immediately go to town. He left, went and bought a sheet of leather and made his own whip from the sheet of leather and then went back and whipped everyone. The idea there was not only did he know when to give an ass kicking, he thought long and hard about it and was confident that a good whipping was the appropriate reaction
Taylor didn’t mention how Jesus didn’t GRAB a whip, he meticulously and patiently hand made a whip out of cords and THEN proceeded to cleanse the temple
7:31 Close enough, but actually people were asked to fill out prayer cards, some also wrote him letters regularly, and his wife would just read them off for him to act like God was giving him the info.
The priest in the Catholic Church close to my house drives a beautiful MKII Jaguar it’s the 3.8 litre and it’s silver and this old man has had it since 1962 when it was brand new.
It's sad that you lost your faith truly there are some amazing churches where I live. My grandfather and my uncle both are pastor. My grandfather has passed however my uncle has been preaching since the 80s he's never taken a dime from the church either. He says Jesus did it for free the word of is free for those who wish to know him.
12:00 Maybe the fig tree was having a hard time in his life. His hermaphroditic tree girlfriend broke up with him, or something like that. What if he was actually really good at making figs, and would start doing a standout job in no time? Like once he started going out a bit and puting in the necessary effort for his friendships because he realized he never really did put in the effort for his relationship and wants to change that about himself! What then?!
Find a church that has better practices. A church that doesn’t force things on you. A church that has competence systems in place. Where the leadership isn’t hypocritical and corrupt. Maybe have a personal talk with the pastor before joining.
Pedro Garcia ? No, you just need to have more wisdom and rationality. The Bible isn’t against reason and wisdom, and Jesus encouraged discernment and “seeing the layers”. I say as a Christian, many Christians and many churches have done more bad than good “in the name of Jesus”. It’s unfortunate, but just looking at what Jesus preached and the places where Christianity has been beneficial, I continue to have faith and belief in Christianity. Also, it’s ironic when atheists judge Christians and churches by Christian standards, not saying that’s you but the PKA crew have certainly done it
Correction... Mary Magdalene is considered a saint and is referred to as the apostle of the apostles. the pope gregory said she was a whore but the vatican has denounced this idea entirely.
Im a primitive Baptist and we dont go around on trips to spread the religion and we dont idolize items or teachers. We call the guy speaking elder and not preacher we dont give money into the church. We believe everyone is going to heaven as long as they love god. You dont have to get baptized till youre ready to become a member so no babys are baptized and once baptized you basically on the church and volunteers upkeep the church. We dont scare people into believing we believe were gods children and he loves us so hell never just throw us to hell because we made mistakes or get a tattoo. I mean if you've ever been in a primitive Baptist church you should see any pictures or statues of Jesus or any other Bible characters we also follow the first testament. All in all were the chill Christians and dislike seeing all these churchs taking advantage of people and "Christians" telling everyone that if they dont follow their way theyll go to hell. But them catholics and other branches making bank off people easily
13:31 that's so sad, the only reason Kyle is alive is because of pleasure, heck self pleasure isn't even about that it's more about you pretending to have sex...
Yo woody, I think you were getting scammed by your church because most catholic churches I've been in have never done that. The one you were at must have had some real stuck up people if they were trying to take your money out of your bank account. So sorry for your experience, I apologize as a catholic. Just know that not every catholic church is like that.
Kinda sad that Kyle, who's a healthy and intelligent man, has deliberately chosen not to have kids, becuase it indicates a general apathy for anything beyond himself.
The fig tree symbolises Israel. The missing fruit is how Israel has failed in recognizing Jesus. The curse is that Israel will not be producing anymore prophets.
Several times I went to church was when my family said we have too. They would pass the golden plate around and you put money in. One time he has his talk with a picture show and such. He the talks about his fucking vacation to Oregon or Nevada and his God damn boat. Hell I think he had a Lexus too.
As a Catholic I'm sorry for Woody's experience, that isn't part of Catholicism, you aren't required to give them any money at all, a chapel in the Hallam parish I've never paid a penny. I have been to protestant churches and i find "the plate" distasteful in a church, remember that Jesus tipped the table in the synagogue
0:10 - It's usually just pronounced "Ball" but it can also be pronounced "Buh-all", like a barely perceptible pause where the apostrophe is in the spelling of "Ba'al".
@3:46 nice way to see the world from a myopic POV......so the church....spoken about very loosely......requested money for the show........meanwhile I watch you people do the same. They requested from the viewer yet you are granted? Nice
The church woody is talking about is called the oblates of Mary immaculate They worship the person who bought Jesus into this world. Jesus is the Lord and God well is God. My highschool was linked to this chruch here in Australia and yes it was very old school. I was not religious but was a "diversity student" I guess one of maybe 5 or 6 kids in my year who were different religions etc. I was the non religious diversity student for my year. The rest of the 180 kids in the year level were indoctrinated to this church. For sex ed in grade 8 (13 years old) they passed around dead babies and fetus' in jars and also showed a live abortion on a massive projector screen. It was an all boys school so why we were watching this shit at 13 is beyond me there were no females there to frighten at all. I and about 7 or 8 students refused to be in the lecture theatre for this and demanded to be let out from the locked theatre. We eventually started barging the door down 3 wide 13 year Olds bashing door down. I told my father what happened and he was up there the next day ripping their head off I could hear him yelling from my class room and the admin building was a ways away. He and about 20 other parents showed up the next day. They were hardcore into the no sex before marriage and giving yourself over to the Lord. Was not a good environment for a kid who didn't know what he wanted to believe.
In everything there are people who use the cause, to earn the money, so religion is not immune from that. Islam also has those kind of people, who are always in the first row in the mosque so they are seen, they give charity only when they know they will be noticed and stuff like that. But those people will aslo lose the reward in the afterlife, meaning heaven and hell. I feel that in a lot of ways christians have lost their compass because of all of the things that have been implemented, especially money, but also alcohol, usury, immoral life without family, homosexualism and other things that were publicly allowed by the church, but are actually also sin in Christianity. I like the fact that Taylor understands religion a little bit better and analyzes it from worldly, scientific, logical perspective, because that is the way you must analyze religion. Though sometimes, he misses the point completely, I really like how he handled the whole tree thing. Kyle is missing out on the most beautiful and most valuable part of life. Having a child. Ofcourse, before anything, you need to find the right woman for that. I myslef didn't see it, or feel it, until it happned to me. It was as if whole new world opened and I wondered how is it possible that I didn't know that it feels so good in such a pure and beautiful way. I hope he realizes that before its to late. And as always, have a nice day!
You have to go to college to be a pastor... Talk about the most published book in history. The book has it's own country. Though, versions may vary. No taxes and etc. Eh.... It's not like our government is much better.
Well damn, Pastor Taylor really do be teaching more about the Bible than sunday school ever did
Did anyone else crack up at taylor imitating the Latin preacher? 😂
I did
Woody didn’t
Laughed more when woody pretty much told him to shut the fuck up
Woodys sperg moment, “I’m not done” 😂😂
These clips brighten my day up to such an incredible extent🙏🏼
This comment should be pinned 💯👍🏽 I agree bro 💯
Woody was in a cult.
Lol wouldn’t surprise me
I grew up in a Roman Catholic family and it sounds like nothing woody experienced.
Same. Although I will say that my old priest always forgot where he was at.

My Catholic Church was not like that
Neither was mine
Theres a huge mega church in Missouri that require you to submit a w2 and credit report, and you have to gross a certain amount to join.
They want the slaver descendants not the blacks
"And thou shalt feel the sting of the Lord's whip"

The church of "Our Lady of the worthless miracle"
Dude I NEED Brad Neely to animate Pastor Taylor's Bible Stories. I would even maybe pay money to see that.
1:10 ish he's right I'm a Baptist 😂
The stories are basically allegorical, not historical.
"Very allegorical the sacred and the propane"

Have you tried going spiritual, not that but shit but doing DMT or mushrooms or LSD, to see for yourself,
N yes I feel how Taylor's feels but if you put some in a psychedelics state it does improve life, only if set n setting is right.
