My wife is a teacher....and here is a bit of my own reality...
Conversations are always about school...weekdays and weekends.
Holidays are spent catching up on work or planning/writing reports...
Asks about your day but actually can't wait to tell you all about hers and guaranteed her day will always be tougher than yours...
Talks as if you know all 25 kids in her class...
Has no energy for quality time...
Unless it's about school she has no time to conversate but has plenty to say gossiping with colleagues...
Sleeps a lot because she says she's always exhausted, physically and mentally....except on the nights she goes out for drinks with her colleagues...suddenly there's all this energy from out of nowhere, no rest or sleep needed...
Volunteers you out without speaking to you first to sober drive all her drunk friends after their night out...suddenly you've become useful again...
Leaves you to tend to kids, house chores and cooking of dinners because she's just too exhausted to help you with any of it...
Can't bother her with requests on her time or energy but somehow moves like lightning at every cellphone alert...
Sometimes talks to you like your one of her students....and she doesn't know she's doing it...
Your own opinion doesn't matter much because after all, she's the teacher...and you're not...
Cannot raise any issues to do with teaching getting the best of her time and energy because "we non-teachers just don't get it"...
Keeps saying they'll make it up to you somehow but it doesn't seem to happen...
You'll hear the same event being retold four to five times in an afternoon as she tells every new person who walks through the door about it...not counting the two or three phone calls to family to tell them about it too....
For her, there's a right and wrong way of doing things, and your way is just not it...
Your plans, she'll undo them and reconstitute them to her convenience....
And the biggest mistake you can make is to say you think it's all a bit unfair that her profession gets the "best of her" while the family often gets the grumpy, irritable, exhausted, no time, no energy, empty shell of a mother and wife at the end of a day....everyday....
Despite all this, you are still expected to be "understanding" and "patient" and "caring"....
Teaching is far more than a job folks...it is a LIFESTYLE...
And many people, teachers included, are not always fully aware of what they're actually signing up for when going into this profession....
I take my hat off to those who have been able to get the balance right...
    I truly envy you all....
Still waiting to see if we're able to achieve the same result for ourselves....but as of yet....no cigar...
Don't get me wrong, teaching is a noble profession....and it certainly isn't for everyone....
Just know what you're getting into before committing especially if you're in a relationship where one is in a teaching role and the other is not....
Balance is key....but not always so easy to achieve....
    Best of luck everyone!!!

The only recourse is for two teachers to be married to each other. I speak from experience as the child of two teachers at least this way when they came home from school, they each had something to talk about and if a child sneezed on one, the other one probably got sneezed on too. However, it’s still amazed all of us in the household that one could come home with one bag and one could come home with a carry-on suitcase, full of papers to grade. Also, my father learned do not go on my mother’s purse. He would lose an arm, possibly a leg, but definitely an arm.

How come they don't make light up shoes for adults? Yes I'm a bearded man who thinks chopping firewood is a hobby and coffee is a breakfast but I remember that feeling of being the most important person in the world for a few hours when you walked in with the new spiderman shoes that had lights in them and made you look about an inch and a half taller and I don't see why I can't experience it again

Guy: how many pencils does she need?
Me: well she is a teacher and she teaches kids all day who forget pencils.
    Do you understand now

Isn’t this like breaking confidentiality rules? It think it would be where I am.
I’m at university getting a Primary Education degree and have done a childcare diploma and have been taught we cannot do this. I’m from the UK though. I am just really curious about all the differences between teaching and childcare in different countries like for example having a curriculum.

I'm assuming that all of the examples in the video were made up.
You are allowed to tell your spouse these things because of spousal privilege. Someone you were dating would not be privy to specifics of a student's IEP or other protected information, but you would be able to tell them the day to day minutiae.

From my understanding, it only breaks the confidentially rules if Ms. Smith now known as Mrs. Merrill were to use the full child's name and their picture in her postings, which she doesn't use; either on here or on her professional Instagram channel. The law that cover this in the US is known as The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. That law was originally enacted right at my first year of Kindergarten, so that's why I'm so familiar with it. My mom had to go through paperwork transfer hell filling out form after form everytime we had to move and switch elementary schools due to my late father's career as a professional musician and entertainer. We had to move to wherever dad was getting gigs at the time.
