A hobo is someone with no permanent address but willing to work wherever they go.
were as a Vagrant has no home but begs instead of working
and a bum would be someone with a home, but no job and freeloads off others living as if they're homeless.
@@nogrammer and a bum is buttocks
Originally the term "Hobo" was applied to returning veterans who were broke and typically hopped trains in order to travel. Most of them were on their way home, so they were "HOmeward BOund". But to be fair, it was always a very loose term. But your definition is accurate for the modern useafe.
In the Reacher books, he possesses an unusual ability that isn't shown in the TV series. He somehow always knows exactly what time of day it is without looking at a watch. That speaks to his knowing where the moon was the night of the murder.
I think he displays this in episode 7.
That exact scene was them displaying that very ability. He comments that the moon would have been 26 degrees further west two days prior, indicating he is always aware of and pays attention to the position of the sun and moon and would therefor be able to tell the time of day by their relative position. A pretty handy skill anyone can pick up with some practice
I haven’t worn a watch in almost 30 years, and always know what time it is within 15 minutes. Not claiming any kind of special training or anything, just a weird ability for sensing the passage of time.
@@BDogg2023 I have this ability too. No idea why. It's an impressively unmarketable skill haha.
Orienteering basic skill
I love his delivery on breaking the hands of 3 drunk kids. It was the sad look on his face that spoke to me. He really didn't want to harm those kids, but they forced him into it.
The guy playing Reacher keeps getting more comfortable in the role as the episodes go on.
It's hard to believe that it's Thad from Blue Mountain state. He's a really good actor.
He's great in Titans also.
Really, I thought he was stiff and clunky, I am hoping he is spending the off season getting acting lessons or they actually replace him with someone not so robotic.
@@edmunger5595 but that's a bit how he is in the book , he's a terminator like being
@@raphaellyons8611 have You read any of the books? He is the opposite of what You are saying, in the Amazon show they made him into a bully which he definitely never was in any of the books as a matter of fact the only book where he set out to take someone down was One Shot but instead proved that he couldn't have done it and then took out those who did.
In one of the Reacher books, Reacher explains why he is the way he is. Someone had him tested and found that he was like a throwback to a more primitive man. With more primitive insticts and reactions. I own all the books, read many twice. Lee Child has now semi-retired and letting his brother write the books
that threat was hilarious, "think real hard about how you finish that sentence it'll determine how well your jaw works the rest of your life"
The funniest thing about the Reacher character is he's just too smart, too tough at everything very few people have been a legitimate threat to him in 20 something books. It's both his greatest strength and weakness about his character and why I've gotten a little bored in recent books. I think this show does a good job of making him look superhuman and somewhat vulnerable.
Great reaction! Finlay is the Boston detective..I've read all the Reacher books and this guy is perfect.Buckle up because it's going get even more interesting!
Absolutely love the books and obviously the Reacher character! I’m so glad they ousted Tom Cruise and got someone who lives up to the Reacher most people envision.
I really enjoyed this show. The actress that plays Roscoe does an excellent job, probably the best on the whole series. The actor that plays Reacher is 6'2". :)
When I sat down to watch this series, I had planned on watching the first two episodes... eight episodes later... :)
Ironically, isnt the actor still kinda small for Reacher? Isnt he supposed to be 6ft5? But hollywood magic can help with that, he still looks like hes towering over everyone in the show. According to some sites the actor was slightly under 200lbs and is 6ft2 (which is kind of similiar to me). But he looks so much bigger than me here, I think he gained something like 25lbs for this role.
@@petrinafilip96 he did put on at least 30 pounds for this role
Alan Ritchson himself said in an interview that he is 6'3" and when he has his combat boots on, he is almost 6'5
@@harrik4583 Weird, all info I've seen online points to him being 6'2''. But you never know with hollywood, and there is a lot of height manipulation in actual movies/TV shows, especially when doing adaptations. For example, Hugh Jackman had to appear shorter for all Wolverine movies and Tom Cruise always tries to look taller because he's short af. And still, walking around at 220-230 lbs LEAN at 6'3'' is INSANE.
@@petrinafilip96 Yeah, who knows, but I would trust the guy himself in this case. i don't know how to put the link here, but you can search that clip in youtube, I think it was called How tall is Alan Richson? Reacher interview
good guys, Reacher, Roscoe, Chief of Detectives Finley. Grey was the name of the guy who took care of Roscoe after her parents died. There are other good guys but I don't want to spoil anything. I absolutely love the chemistry between Reacher and Roscoe.
Bad guys: white men. Good guys: the rest.
Do you consider the south american ex-SF to be white men then? I'm asking since they didn't look white to me... What about the white banker - is he a bad guy then? I thought he was a good guy. Peace.
@@SarkkiKarkki not just white men. there's someone else who's bad as well.
@@SarkkiKarkki 2/3 main characters are white
Great reaction and discussion! I'm really happy this was renewed for a 2nd season. Btw Clark Bars are awesome (crispy peanut butter covered in chocolate)!
A precursor to Butterfinger and 5th Avenue😋
I grew up on Clark Bars! There was a Clark building in Pittsburgh PA. Halloween in the 70s was awesome! You got Full size candy bars! 😋
And now they are already filming the 3rd season!
He didn't break their arms; he broke their hands. Details matter.
Loved how he dropped his chin when the one guy swung on him. Broke the guys hand with the crown of his head! 😂🤣😂🤣😂👍
And it wasn't all of them, one had to drive to the hospital
@@CJR-wv8kc Exactly!
@@michaelriddick7116 I'm surprised how much I enjoyed this. Yesterday morning I was working on a paper at 0400 and I turned on Amazon to watch something for a 15 minute break and before I knew it; it was past past noon and I had binge watched them all.
Love your reactions. I really like this new actor. Tom Cruise did a good job, but to be true to the book, Jack Reacher needs to be huge and hugely powerful. Someone said something about a combination between Sherlock Holmes and the Hulk or something. I like what one commentator said about Batman: Most detectives are either the cerebral type like Holmes, or the "visceral" type. Batman was especially charismatic because he had the union of opposites; he is both cerebral and visceral. Jack Reacher is another example of that. He is both very cerebral and incredibly visceral / physical. The union of the two qualities in one character is especially striking and charismatic, and they got an actor who pulls off the character superbly. No belittling Tom Cruise's performance, but he was just not the right casting to fully represent the character of the books. This actor could put on a cape and cowl and swing around Gotham City on his special ropes and truly put the fear into criminals.
You always turned in your essays on time, didn’t you? 😊
You guys are much more insightful than others I've seen react to this
Have to admit my first reaction when I saw this coming out as a series was a huge eye roll. It annoys me when Hollywood takes a great movie and tries to mutate it into a (normally) awful series. However, in this case I admit I was wrong. As good as I found the movies, they did a great job with this series. His flat delivery is flawless.
The movies are pretty bad compared to the series
Agreed...the series is great and I did not expect it to be. Pleasantly surprised. Reacher is the best series that I have ever seen on TV to date...watched the entire series in one day.
I didn't see the movie because I read the books series when they first came out, Tom Cruise is cool, but the first book said Reacher is 6'5 and 250, this guy is closer to the book,he was 205,he put on 30 pounds for this roll,he's 6'2 not 6'5 but he got the stone face, and short answer down pack just like books, and the warning part, when he let people know you don't want none of this.
Hardly anyone is reacting to this awesome series. Glad y'all are. It only gets better!
Candy bars were a big thing back in the day (50's-70's). The Clark Bar was right up there in popularity along with Snickers, Three Musketeers, Milky Way and Almond Joy. Not so popular today, but Breyers ice cream makes flavors that incorporate some of them. Each bar had its own distinct ingredients. Clark Bars haven't been around for years.
I watched your reaction to the first episode and got interested in the series, so I started to watch the show on my own yesterday!
It will be fun to basically watch it simultaneously with you guys!=D
I was VERY impressed with this show in general, but especially the story and the acting!
Roscoe's character is so much better in this than the book. In the book she's there basically just to look pretty and for Reacher to protect, in the show she's actually active and behaves like a police officer.
As a fan of the books, I was sooooo pissed when they got DINKY Tom Cruise to play the part. That's the big reason nobody remembers much about the first two movies. Loving this new stuff. From what I can see, it looks like the author is enjoying more collaboration with the producers and director of this new endeavor. GO REACHER!!!! As a woman 6'tall, I have always grooved on Reacher!!!
I love the entire thing. The mom
Great. The dog was very touching.
Tom never go back Great also.
As a matter of fact reacher is a watch over and over.
I know you guys have never seen Smallville, but @2:52, I had a fanboy moment, as Aquaman (who Reacher played on Smallville) & Lana Lang (Charlie aka Kristin Kreuk) reunited on screen for the first time in 17 years!!! They both still look largely the same too!
Alan's a great deal larger. He was more slender back then.
@@TimedRevolver He was still pretty ripped, though, even compared to Tom Welling & Justin Hartley!
@@TheBatman582 Tom was just big. Still is.
Ahhhh.. Good catch.
They really do!
The inmates were instructed to get the new guys ; the one who was wearing the glasses. Reacher had glasses on from the visitors of his cell as the other had his stepped on and broken. Thats why they went after Reacher...glasses and because of that mistake he figured they were really after the accountant.
Glad you guys are watching this, I very much enjoyed it!
💯agree😊
You two are pretty sharp on your commentary on this. I saw it twice and you are picking things up rather quickly.
Reacher was an Army military police major in charge of a special unit he put together. His top sergeant was Frances Neagley, a definite badass!
It was King Kong and Fay Wray. I have the same issue remembering characters’ names until several episodes into any series. I go to the series Wikipedia page and read “Cast” or “Characters”. Doesn’t have spoilers, at least that I can remember.
0:40: It was Sherlock Holmes meets TBR Schmitt I think?
Haha I wish! Arnold, Stallone and now this… need to get my butt into a gym lol
yall are not obnoxious at all, bless u
A Little Smallville Reunion.. Arthur Curry & Lana Lang
If it's not too much trouble, I have three recommendations for you. 3 films released in 1999: Deep Blue Sea, Topsy Turvy, and The Insider.
Deep Blue Sea is a shark movie with some B-movie goodness. Topsy Turvy is a true story about Gilbert and Sullivan producing The Mikado, their most popular operetta. And The Insider is a true story about a whistleblower in the Tobacco Industry (directed by Michael Mann, the same guy who did Collateral).
God, there's nothing more cool than him.Headbutting that punch😂
It would be awesome to watch you two react to Peacemaker. It is hyper violent, gory, hilarious, cringy, emotional well acted and amazingly written show. I think you guys would enjoy it.
Was waiting all evening for the upload!!!! Haha
No joke here. Today I briefly met Reacher at GalaxyCon in Richmond! He had a beard that was growing.
Reacher looks like David Keith (actor)
Yea, ZAPPs Spicy Cajun Crawtater chips
They used to make those right down the Hwy from me.
They're related.
I'm not going to read through all the comments, but I found it amusing that Roscoe had no problem with Reacher driving away in a car knowing he doesn't have a license. :) What a great show!
you guys earned a subscriber!!
I have been waiting for this!!!
Sorry for the wait! Hope you enjoy!
You're reactions are the best very few people take the time to explain what the most important scenes meant to them I really like you two. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks for the kind words and support!! We will definitely keep going as long as we can!
@@TBRSchmitt Absolutely agree, will enjoy watching you on this path ;)
Great reaction. No unnecessary side talk.
When Reacher takes out His knife. His Face remembers me at the Ledger Joker, when He takes out His knife.
Clark Bar = Peanut butter chickle covered in milk chocolate = 5th Avenue Bar = Butterfinger
5th Avenue & Clark Bar have quality milk chocolate coatings. Butterfinger's chocolate has a high percentage of paraffin as a stabilizer to resist melting, which adversely affects it's flavor.
Sherlock Holmes. Reacher shares many of the legendary detective's attributes, including a lack of empathy with lesser humans. Doctor Watson served as Holmes' go-between in dealings with ordinary people. Detective Finlay, and to some degree, Roscoe, serves that role for Reacher.
Reacher was a military police that is why he catches the little clues that are so big actually.
There's a good reason why Reacher was the Commander of the Rock Creek 110th M.P.s. He's smart.
Everywhere Reacher goes, there’s gonna be a fight. He has the fightdar on him.
As a guy who is 6'5" and over 350 lbs I can tell you that we do not blend in. We stand out like a bus in a parking lot full of smart cars.
Jack Reacher the character was inspired by the likes of characters like Conan the Barbarian (the books, not the movies). In the books Conan looks and comes across to many as some brute, but he's extremely well-educated and versed in multi-cultural philosophy and has mastered skills of deduction and logic, which is why he's able to go toe-to-toe with various gods, wizards, and demons and come out the victor. Jack Reacher is very much like that, if you replace gods and wizards with politicians and demons with well-trained henchmen.
As for the Vagrant/Hobo comparison; a vagrant travels from place-to-place without a home and begs for food or help. A hobo, while also homeless and travelled, is willing to work in exchange for lodging or a warm meal.
Wasn’t expecting anybody to react to this show it was a pleasant surprise and a really good show I loved the jack reacher movies well the first one anyway
stayed up late for this you guys!!!
Had some delays this weekend! Sorry for the wait but hope you enjoy and thanks for the support!
@@TBRSchmitt I work late. You guys Always deliver. No issues waiting for quality.
Can't wait for Collateral
Hey guys, if you haven't seen it yet check out Daredevil, its on Disney. Great choreography and kind of a batman feel
Finally, Reacher looking how he should! Now you concentrate on his master sleuthing skills.
My mom loved Clark bars... my brother and I used to buy them and bribe her to let us go fishing.
If you guys like stuff like this and True Detective, you might actually like Bosch on Amazon Prime
Hey bro, it was me the Sherlock Holmes comment -
But it's Lee Child's comment-
* REACHER is Sherlock Holmes crossed with Arnold Schwarzenegger from Commando.*
The FBI buddy's "Don't take the Magrave job" is a big chekov gun hint.
I actually love the cop, he also plays an amazing cop in the show iZombie (kinda the same character really) also another amazing and hilarious show.
Also its a Supressor, not a Silencer, Reacher. You should know that. Btw with a twist off, jam into your forearm and twist, wont chew up your hands
He probably called it a Silencer as a simplification incase the officers were less then intelligent (Some of the cops give that vibe in the show. Mostly the background extras)
I just found this show today and noticed you guys reacted to it. I think of him as Reacher as Jason Bourne on steroids.
I like your reaction to this wonderful series. A read a comment you might find interesting a few years ago, about Batman. In fact Reacher and Batman have a lot in common, in my mind. The comment about Batman I read said that he was an unusual "detective" character. Most detective characters in modern entertainment are either the "cerebral" type--Sherlock Holmes; Hercule Poirot--or the "visceral" type: Mike Hammer etc. Batman, the comment went on, combines both detective types in one character. He is incredibly intelligent, observant, knowledgeable and insightful. He is also very much an active, often violent actor in fighting evil. Reacher reminds me of that. He combines both the cool, intelligent, observant, analytical, knowledgeable characteristics of a Sherlock Holmes, with the visceral capability for violence of Batman. Who, by the way, is often portrayed as not only a martial arts-type badass but as about Reacher's size and strength.
Jay Maupin
Clark Bars are similar to Butterfinger or 5th Avenue bar, made in Pittsburgh for a long time.
Reacher's actor is genuinely massive. 6'3 over 200lbs (You'd be surprised how negligible the difference between 6'3 and 6'5 is. Like with some heights its extremely noticeable but in personal experience it is barely noticeable but oddly 6'5 and 6'7 is much more noticeable
Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity. However, any sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from malice.
I binged watched season 1! Can't wait for season 2!
Love the reaction, I'll be back for the next one!
Vagrant: a person without a settled home or regular work who wanders from place to place and lives by begging.
Hobo (Reacher): someone who does not have a job or a house and who moves from one place to another.
This Jack Reacher as a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Dude from Free Guy. LOL
In case the Mayor looks familiar he is the same guy that played D-DAY in Animal House.
A Clark bar is a Southern version of a Butterfinger.
Love your reactions!
Next series you guys could watch that is really good and funny : After Life.
That's Lana from Smallville.
I started watching the series and I'm enjoying it, Makes you think how much different the 2 movies would have been if Dwyane Johnson decided to take the role instead of taking the Hobbs role in the fast n furious movies.
god bless y’all i ain’t paying for that show
That level of violence from the bad guys is pretty much the standard throughout the book series.
Cutest Roscoe since Roscoe P Coltrane.
Yeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaa!!!!
Not Roscoe from The Simpsons?
21:11. Nothing came of the fight with the two guys because the local police showed up and the three of them ran off so they wouldn’t get arrested.
Reacher is very clearly on the spectrum.
"Clark" bars are great.
Sherlock Homeless
a HOBBO is a person that travels all over following the work and the sun
love you guys trying to deduce stuff. makes me wanna see both of you reacting to Twin Peaks. would be really interesting
Fun note: Mr. Mosley is likely named after acclaimed black crime novelist Walter Mosley.
Finlay is the Chief Detective by the way... The short brother lol
Wow 2days already…??

love u guys. i love the way u react the scenes. Samantha is so cute love Ur hair girl :)
i really want to watch this program. what is it available on?
It is on Amazon Prime!
You two are so astute and fun. Love your reactions.
Vanellope von Schweetz to Reacher: "Are you a Hobo?"
After ur first reaction I Binge watched the season it's great
As nouns the difference between vagrant and hobo
is that vagrant is a person without a home or job while hobo is a homeless, usually penniless person, in some way associated with a life along the rails.
Recommendation for you to react: Jeepers Creepers (2001).
Did someone tell u the difference between being a vagrant and a hobo? Vagrancy is illegal. A hobo is a drifter. Vagrants trespass, sleep under overpasses (which is unsafe & illegal), panhandle to pay for food, that kinda thing. Reacher’s a drifter - while he hitchhikes (illegal but not the same kinda thing), he pays for bus rides, pays to stay in hotels (if he’s not in jail lol), pays for his meals, clothes, toothbrush, etc. He’s a hobo, not a vagrant. 😉
The way Roscoe handles Reacher reminds me of the way Romanov handles The Hulk.
Reacher saying the killer had a silencer on his weapon which makes even close range work inaccurate is false. I’m sure most people could care less, but I had to say something or it would bug me.
Capt. Spaulding saying 'people could care less' is false. I’m sure most people *couldn't* care less, but I had to say something or it would bug me.
@@ricky302v8 Your right, I miss spoke (miss typed), but you could of just corrected me politely instead of trying to make a point.
A Clark Bar is very similar to a Butterfinger
Can not believe you did not heard of a Clark bar.
7:29 - I don't know why they felt this was necessary. There are plenty of cinematic tricks they could have used without displaying the completely naked corpse.
9:53 - Ugh! Reacher's brother's name was not "Joseph." It was Joe. Just Joe. The way Reacher's first name is Jack, which isn't a nickname or short for anything.
16:18 - I recently found out that it was Alan Ritchson's idea to open the bottle with his bicep. Roscoe was supposed to open her bottle with an opener, but Willa Fitzgerald pointed out that Roscoe wouldn't be so... "timid" in the face of Reacher showing off, which is why she uses the table to open hers.
Kliner just assumed Joe was short for Joseph. Of course he'd get it wrong.
You do have to understand that it was made for cable so they can be just as gory as they want. I don't think it was over the top and it did underline that the bad guys are really bad.
Clark bars are awesome!
Very nice TBR! Can’t say why I’m saying that yet!🤐
